分子量は、PolymerLaboratories製サイズ排除カラム(PLgel5μmMIXED−C、300×7.5mm、40℃保持)を取り付けたPerkinElmer社シリーズ200GPCにて、3.5%(容量)イソプロパノール含有クロロホルムを移動相として用いて、ポリスチレン標準にて測定した。NMRスペクトルはBruker400又はBrukerAdvance500分光計で測定した。
ビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル)の合成を、スキーム1に示す通りの3工程プロセスで行った。このため、p−ブロモアニソールをカルバゾールに添加し、FeCl3触媒を用いてN−(4−メトキシフェニル)カルバゾールのカップリングを行い、最後にメトキシ基を脱保護して,ジヒドロキシ化合物を得た。
方法1
200mlのトルエン中の5.025g(0.03モル)のカルバゾール、7.3g(0.04モル)の4−ブロモアニソール及び12.5g(0.09モル)のK2CO3の混合物を入れたフラスコを、排気し、アルゴンを導入する工程を3回繰り返し、その後2モル%のPd(OAc)2及び0.1gのトリス(t−ブチル)ホスフィンを添加した。混合物をアルゴン中で1週間かきまぜた。2日後に新たなPd(OAc)2及びPt(t−Bu)3を添加した。混合物を放冷した後、水を加えた。有機層を分離し、MgSO4で乾燥し、濃縮した。カラムクロマトグラフィ後、白色結晶を得た。
三つ口丸底フラスコに、ブロモアニソール(18.7g、100mmol)、カルバゾール(16.7mg、100mmol)、リン酸カリウム(21g、154mmol)及びヨウ化銅(1g、5mmol)を仕込んだ。ジオキサン(400mL)を添加した後、反応フラスコをN2で置換した。ジメチルエチレンジアミン(1g、5mmol)をシリンジから反応フラスコに加えた。その後反応混合物を窒素中95℃に24時間加熱した。次に、溶液を室温まで冷却し、50mLのH2Oを添加した。反応混合物を塩化メチレンで抽出し、有機相と水性相とを分離した。有機相をさらに50mLの水で2回、50mlのブラインで1回洗い、Na2SO4で乾燥した。溶剤を真空下で除去し、粗生成物を得た。メタノールから再結晶して、化合物1を17.99gの白色結晶として得た。

アルゴン雰囲気下、8.03g(29.4mmol)の化合物1を500mLのクロロホルムに溶解した撹拌溶液に、9.67g(59.6mmol)の塩化鉄(III)を一度に添加した。室温で40時間かきまぜた後、250mLの水を加えた。有機層を分離し、250mLの水で3回抽出し、塩基性アルミナのパッドを通して濾過した。次に少量の塩化メチレンを用いてパッドをリンスした。濾液をNa2SO4で乾燥し、濾過し、真空下で濃縮した。THF/ヘキサンからの再結晶により混合物を精製し、目的の化合物2を白色結晶として収率52%で得た。

実施例3 化合物3:ビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル)の合成
50mL丸底フラスコ内で0.544g(1mmol)の化合物2を15mLの無水CH2Cl2に添加し、磁気撹拌バーにてかきまぜた。溶液を窒素雰囲気下氷浴で0℃に冷却した。三臭化ホウ素(2.4mmol、2.4mL、CH2Cl2中1M)をシリンジから溶液に滴下した。フラスコを氷浴から外し、室温で平衡化させた後、1時間かきまぜた。溶液をデカンテーションして、50mLビーカー中の10mLの氷水に注いだ。かきまぜながら30分間の加水分解の後、有機層を2×10mLのCH2Cl2で抽出した。有機層を2×15mLの冷水で洗い、過剰なBBr3を中和した。溶液を硫酸ナトリウムで乾燥し、回転エバポレータを用いて溶剤を蒸発させ、0.46g(90%)の固形物を得た。THF/ヘキサンからの再結晶により0.346gの生成物を得、これを次の重合に用いた。

実施例4 ビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル)とBPA−ビスクロロホルメートとの重合
窒素雰囲気下、磁気撹拌バーを取り付けた乾燥反応容器に、0.346g(0.6697mmol)の化合物3、即ちビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル)、0.237g(0.6697mmol)のBPA−ビスクロロホルメート及び8mLの乾燥塩化メチレンを仕込んだ。得られた白濁溶液を含む容器を氷塩浴に15分間浸漬した後、0.25mL(1.79mmol)の乾燥トリエチルアミンを仕込んだ。かきまぜながら、混合物を0〜5℃に1時間保ち、放置して室温までもどし、さらに1時間かきまぜた。次に混合物を5mLのCH2Cl2で希釈し、1.0mLの10%NaHCO3を添加し、混合物を10分間かきまぜてから、分液ロートに移した。水性相を捨て、有機相を順次等容量の1N HCl(1回)と水(2回)で洗った。溶液を4mLまで濃縮し、40mLのメタノールにて析出させた。集めたポリマーを10mLのCH2Cl2に再溶解し、この溶液を沸騰している1000mLの脱イオン化水にゆっくり添加した。固形分を再び集め、空気乾燥し、12mLの新鮮なCH2Cl2に再溶解し、再度メタノールにそそぎ析出させた。得られたポリマーを80℃の真空オーブンにて一晩乾燥した。ゲル浸透クロマトグラフィ(GPC)分析により、ポリマーは重量平均分子量Mw=31,500kで、分散度PDI=3.18であった。
非冷却R928赤感応性光増倍管を取り付けたPerkinElmerLS55分光蛍光光度計を用いて、三重項エネルギーレベルを測定した。代表的な測定手順では、サンプルをクリーンな実験用乳鉢に入れ、測定前にサンプルを液体窒素に2分以上浸漬して熱平衡を確保した。次にサンプルを光で励起した。初期の20μs励起パルスから遅延した時間まで検出を差し止めるというLS55の遅延捕集特徴を利用して、発光スペクトルを得た。
三重項エネルギーレベル用のサンプルを以下のように製造した。10mgのビス[9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル]を1mLの無水THFに溶解した。次に溶液を清浄化した石英基板上にスピンコートした。
三重項エネルギーレベル用のサンプルを以下のように製造した。1wt%のトリス(2−(4−トリル)フェニルピリジン)イリジウム(Ir(mppy)3)をポリスチレン(PS)中に含有する混合物を、1wt%Ir(mppy)3溶液(10mgのIr(mppy)3を1mLのTHFに溶解)0.010mLをPSの1wt%THF溶液1.0mLと混合することにより調製した。この溶液を清浄化した石英基板上にスピンコートした。
冷却R928光増倍管を取り付けたEdinburghCD920分光計を用いて、三重項励起状態の寿命を測定した。代表的な手順では、サンプルを真空デュワーに入れ、次いで4×10E−5トルまで減圧した。次にサンプルをパルス式ダイオードレーザー(クラスHIB、390−420nm、最大パワー5mW)で394nmで光励起した。時間分解発光スペクトルを540nmで測定した。
1wt%のIr(mppy)3をビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル)中に含有する混合物を、1wt%Ir(mppy)3溶液(10mgのIr(mppy)3を1mLのTHFに溶解)0.010mLをビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル)の1wt%THF溶液1.0mLと混合することにより調製した。この溶液を清浄化した石英基板上にスピンコートした。
1wt%のIr(mppy)3をポリスチレン中に含有する混合物を、1wt%Ir(mppy)3溶液(10mgのIr(mppy)3を1mLのTHFに溶解)0.010mLをPSの1wt%THF溶液1.0mLと混合することにより調製した。この溶液を清浄化した石英基板上にスピンコートした。
予めインジウム錫オキサイド(ITO)で被覆されたガラスを基板として用いた。UV/オゾン処理したITO基板上にスピンコーティングによりポリ(3,4−エチレンジオキシチオフェン)/ポリスチレンスルホネート(PEDOT:PSS)の層(約65nm)を設層し、次いで空気中180℃で1時間ベークした。N,N’−ジフェニル−N,N’−(ビス(3−メチルフェニル)−[1,1−ビフェニル]−4,4’−ジアミン(TPD)及び2−(4−ビフェニリル)−5−(4−tert−ブチルフェニル)−1,3,4−オキサジアゾール(PBD)をそれぞれ正孔注入材料及び電子注入材料として使用した。ビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル):PBD:TPD:Ir(mppy)3(61:24:9:6)の混合溶液を、ビス(9−(ヒドロキシフェニル)カルバゾール−3−イル)の1.5wt%クロロベンゼン(CB)溶液1.220mL、PBDの3.0wt%CB溶液0.240mL、TPDの3.0wt%CB溶液0.090mL、及びIr(mppy)3の1wt%CB溶液0.18mLを混合することにより調製した。次に混合溶液をPEDOT:PSS上にスピンコートし、70℃で10分間ベークした。圧力2×10E−6トルでの加熱蒸着によりCsF(4nm)/Al(100nm)を設層することで、デバイスの作製を完了した。金属蒸着後に、スライドガラスを用い、光学的接着剤(Norland68、NorlandProducts社(米国ニュージャージ州所在)製)でシールすることにより、デバイスを封止した。
Claims (9)
- 次の式IIで表される構造単位を含むポリマーであって、以下に示す式Iのモノマーを、ポリエステル、ポリカーボネート、コポリカーボネート、ポリアリーレート、コポリアリーレート、コポリエステルカーボネート、ポリエーテル、ポリエーテルスルホン、ポリエーテルイミド又はそれらの組合せを生じる1種以上のコモノマーと共重合することによって得られるポリマー。
- 当該ポリマーが、ポリエステル、ポリエーテル、ポリカーボネート、ポリエステルカーボネート、ポリエーテルイミド、ポリアリールエーテルケトン又はポリアリールエーテルスルホンである、請求項1記載のポリマー。
- R4及びR8が各々独立に水素、トリアリールシリル、トリアルキルシリル、t−ブチル、ジフェニルホスフィンオキシド、ジフェニルホスフィンスルフィド及びこれらの組合せからなる群から選択される、請求項1記載のポリマー。
- a及びeが0である、請求項1記載のポリマー。
- b、c、d及びfが0である、請求項1記載のポリマー。
- 前記構造単位が次式で表される、請求項1記載のポリマー。
- 前記構造単位が次式で表される、請求項1記載のポリマー。
- さらに、次式で表される構造単位を含む、請求項1記載のポリマー。
- 少なくとも1つの電極と、少なくとも1つの正孔注入層と、少なくとも1つの発光層を備える発光デバイスであって、前記発光層が請求項1乃至請求項8のいずれか1項記載のポリマーを含有する、発光デバイス。
