また、クラックの発生しなかったこの適正領域の各ポイントについて、引き続き上記条件での溶解処理を毎日1回行ったところ、20日経過後では、溶湯の浸透も含めて、表2のような結果であった。

このように、本実施形態の誘導炉1は、容器本体2が機械的特性、耐熱性、熱的安定性に優れたアルミナ−シリカ系材料からなり、溶湯中に含まれる添加剤等による化学的損傷や、溶湯の撹拌流動に伴う物理的損傷を、窒化珪素−アルミナ系材料からなる保護層3により有効に防止することができる。更に、容器本体2及び保護層3の組成比を、熱膨張量がほぼ等しくなるように調整しているので、高温の溶湯を貯留した場合でも保護層3の剥離を効果的に抑制することができる。これらの結果、誘導炉1の耐久性及び耐食性を良好に維持することができ、誘導炉1の寿命を大幅に改善することができる。

Claims (2)
- アルミナ−シリカ系材料からなる容器本体と、前記容器本体の内面に形成された窒化珪素−アルミナ系材料からなる保護層とを備える溶湯容器であって、
前記容器本体の厚みは45mmであり、前記保護層の厚みは6mmであり、
前記容器本体の材料は、アルミナ及びシリカの合計100重量部に対するアルミナの含有量x重量部が、72〜95の範囲に調整されており、
前記保護層の材料は、窒化珪素及びアルミナの合計100重量部に対する窒化珪素の含有量y重量部が、下式(1)及び(2)を満たすように調整されている溶湯容器。

前記保護層の材料は、窒化珪素及びアルミナの合計100重量部に対する窒化珪素の含有量y重量部が、前記容器本体及び前記保護層の熱膨張量が等しくなる以下の適正領域を満たすように調整されており、
前記適正領域は、
貯留される溶湯温度に基づき前記容器本体及び前記保護層の平均温度T1及びT2を算出し、
前記容器本体の熱膨張係数をαr、前記保護層の熱膨張係数をαcとして下式(5)を満たす熱膨張係数αcを算出することで、前記容器本体及び前記保護層の熱膨張量が等しくなる前記保護層における窒化珪素及びアルミナの合計100重量部に対する窒化珪素の含有量を算出し、

前記容器本体及び前記保護層の熱膨張量が等しくなる前記保護層における前記窒化珪素の含有量を基に、前記保護層における前記窒化珪素の含有量を変えて前記溶湯温度で溶湯の溶解処理を行い、72≦x≦95の範囲において、前記保護層にクラックが発生しない前記保護層における窒化珪素の含有量の範囲を算出することで定められる溶湯容器。
