図5に示すように、Re≧1500の場合、ウェーブフィンによる流れ剥離や熱媒体の流通抵抗増加に起因して、R/ΔPはある極小値を有する。すなわち、WP/WDが小さくなる程、熱媒体の流通抵抗は小さくなるが、ウェーブフィンによる熱交換性能向上効果が低くなる。一方、WP/WDが大きくなる程、ウェーブフィンによる熱交換性能向上効果が高くなるが、熱媒体の流通抵抗が大きくなる。そして、この極小値(最適仕様)は、上記伝熱工学資料によれば、WD/Hが0.25、WP/WDが4.28のときに得られるとされている。

なお、本発明者の実験によると、WP/WDが3以下の場合に、特に混合促進効果が高くなることが明らかになった。したがって、WP/WDを2.4以上、3以下の範囲に設定することが望ましい。

従来の熱交換器、すなわちインナーフィンとしてストレートフィンやオフセットフィンを用いる場合は、乱流促進効果によりインナーフィンの熱交換性能の向上を図っていた。
本発明は上述の実施形態に限定されることなく、本発明の趣旨を逸脱しない範囲内で、以下のように種々変形可能である。

- 熱媒体が流通する熱媒体流路(30)を有する流路管(3)を備え、
前記流路管(3)内には、前記熱媒体流路(30)を複数の細流路(333)に分割するとともに、前記熱媒体と前記流路管(3)との伝熱面積を増大させるインナーフィン(33)が複数積層されており、
レイノルズ数が1000以下の層流域で前記熱媒体が前記細流路(333)を流通する熱交換器であって、
前記インナーフィン(33)は、前記流路管(3)の長手方向に延びる板部(331)と、隣り合う前記板部(331)間を繋ぐ頂部(332)とを有し、前記長手方向に直交する断面形状が波状となるとともに、前記インナーフィン(33)の積層方向から見た際に前記板部(331)が前記長手方向に波形に屈折するウェーブフィンであり、
前記流路管(3)の長手方向および前記インナーフィン(33)の積層方向に対してともに直交する方向を、流路管幅方向とし、
前記インナーフィン(33)の、前記積層方向に直交し、かつ、前記細流路(333)における前記積層方向の中心部を通る断面において、前記板部(331)の波形状のピッチをウェーブピッチWP[mm]、前記板部(331)の波形状の振幅方向の寸法をウェーブ深さWD[mm]、隣り合う前記板部(331)間の前記流路管幅方向における距離を流路幅H[mm]としたとき、前記ウェーブピッチWPおよび前記ウェーブ深さWDは、次の数式1および数式2
