Description
対照試料1(C1)は、22インチサムスンLCD−TV(LTN226W型)を伴うサムスンの形模様付ディフューザープレートである。このディフューザープレートはPMMAでできた厚さ2mmのプレートであり、CaCO3拡散粒子を含有した。さらにこのプレートは、サムスンLCD−TVのCCFL電球に位置合わせされる印刷した形模様を持つ。対照試料1は、高性能LCD−TVのディフューザープレートを代表するものとする。
対照試料2は、シャープ(Sharp)30インチLCD−TV、型番号LC−30HV2Uを伴うディフューザープレートである。このディフューザープレートは、拡散粒子として5μmガラス球を含有するPMMAの厚さ2mmのプレートから形成された。このディフューザープレートは印刷した形模様を持たない。対照試料2は、標準的なLCD−TVのディフューザープレートを代表するものとする。
試料S1〜S3は、厚さ1mmのLCDガラス基板(コーニング(Corning)1737F)および様々なディフューザーフィルムに基づく片側ディフューザーのラミネートである。これらガラスプレートは、サムスン22インチLCD−TVに合うように大きさを調整した(19.58インチ×11.18インチで、両方の水平な縁の中央に0.1インチ×1インチのノッチを有する)。これらの試料は、C1およびC2と同じ大きさを有した。試料S1〜S3のガラスプレートに、それぞれ3Mスコッチカル(登録商標)拡散フィルム7725−314、3635−70、および3635−30(すべてミネソタ州セントポールのスリー・エム・カンパニーから入手できる)を貼り合わせた。これらディフューザーフィルムは、試料の幅全体にわたって一様な拡散特性を提供する。
試料S5、S8,およびS10は、ディフューザーフィルムをディフューザープレートの両面に貼り合わせたことを除いて試料S1〜S3と同じ方法で調製した。試料S5、S8、およびS10は対称的、言い換えればそのディフューザー層が基板の両面で同一である。このディフューザーフィルムは、試料の幅全体にわたって一様な拡散特性を与えた。
試料S19、S21、およびS26は、S19が厚さ2mmのレキサン(Lexan)ポリカーボナート(PC)の基板を使用し、S21が厚さ2mmのPMMAの基板を使用し、またS26がフロートガラス(カリフォルニア州ロサンジェルスのインダストリアル・ガラス・プロダクツ(Industrial Glass Products,Los Angeles,California))の1mmシートを使用したことを除いてS2と同じ方法で作製した。プレートの端から端までの明るさの測定値をS19、S21、およびS26について、その対応するS2の測定値と共に図10に示す。一様性のレベルはすべての3試料で似ているが、PCプレートを通り抜けたシングルパス透過率は比較的低かった。これらの結果は、そのプレート材料がディフューザープレートを設計する上での重要な変数である可能性があることを示唆している。
試料S20、S22、およびS27は、S20が厚さ2mmのレキサンPCの基板を使用し、S22が厚さ2mmのPMMAの基板を使用し、またS26がフロートガラス(カリフォルニア州ロサンジェルスのインダストリアル・ガラス・プロダクツ)の1mmシートを使用したことを除いてS8と同じ方法で作った。プレートの端から端までの明るさの測定値をS20、S22、およびS27について、その対応するS8の測定値と共に図11に示す。一様性のレベルはすべての3試料で似ているが、PCプレートを通り抜けたシングルパス透過率は比較的低かった。
試料C−1、C−2、S1〜S10、S19〜S22、S26およびS27を、そのディフューザープレートの上方にビキュイティ(登録商標)DBEF−440反射偏光子(RP)の層およびビキュイティ(登録商標)BEF−3Tプリズム状明るさ向上フィルム(BEF)の層(これら両フィルムともミネソタ州セントポールのスリー・エム・カンパニーから入手できる)を置くことによって修正した。明るさは、そのディスプレイ全体にわたる位置の関数として測定した。それらの結果、すなわちこれらの測定値の幾つかを表IIにまとめる。表IIは、輝度および明るさの一様性を、ディスプレイ全体にわたる輝度レベルの標準偏差σおよび相対的一様性σ/xによって示す。比較のために明るさ向上フィルムおよび反射偏光子なしに貼り合わせた場合のディフューザープレートの相対的一様性を、σ/x(D)のしるしを付けた最後の縦欄に示す。図12は、一様性と輝度の関係を描いたグラフを示す。
追加の実施例、すなわち厚さ3mmのPMMA基板上にディフューザー層としてアクリル発泡テープ(ミネソタ州セントポールのスリー・エム・カンパニーから入手できるVHB4643テープ)の0.4mmの層を有する試料S28を調製した。このアクリル発泡テープの拡散特性は均質であった。この試料の性能を、追加の対照試料C3と比較して表IIIに示す。この対照試料は、SECの40インチLCD−TV、型式番号400W1から取ったディフューザープレートであり、拡散粒子を含有する厚さ3mmのPMMA基板を基材とする。
Claims (2)
- 直接照明液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)装置において、
光源と、
LCDパネルであって、上側のプレート、下側のプレート、および前記上側と下側のプレート間に配置された液晶層を備え、前記下側のプレートが前記光源に面し、前記下側のプレートが吸収偏光子を含む、LCDパネルと、
光管理層配列であって、前記光管理層配列を介して前記光源が前記LCDパネルを照らすように前記光源と前記LCDパネルとの間に配置され、前記光管理層配列がディフューザープレート、明るさ向上層、および反射偏光子を含み、前記ディフューザープレートが前記明るさ向上層および前記反射偏光子よりも1個以上の前記光源の近くに配置され、前記ディフューザープレートが、前記光源から前記LCDパネルに向かって伝搬する光を拡散させる第一の拡散層に取り付けられているほぼ透明な基板を含む、光管理層配列と、
を備え、
前記ディフューザープレート、前記明るさ向上層および前記反射偏光子は一体に貼り合わされている装置。 - 液晶ディスプレイ(LCD)装置において、

を含み、
前記ディフューザー層、前記明るさ向上層および前記反射偏光子は一体に貼り合わされている装置。
