Description
本願の請求項5に記載の発明では、本願の請求項1〜4のうちいずれか1項に記載の排気浄化装置において、前記下流側触媒の前記排気ガスの流れ方向の長さが、前記上流側触媒の前記排気ガスの流れ方向の長さよりも長い。
以下に、本願出願の当初の特許請求の範囲に記載された発明を付記する。

エンジンからの排気ガスを導く排気通路の途中に設けられた排気浄化装置において、
排気ガス上流側に配置されて、酸化力を備え、排気ガス中の被酸化成分を酸化する上流側触媒と、
前記上流側触媒の下流に配置されて、前記上流側触媒の総合的な酸化力よりも強い酸化力を備え、排気ガス中の被酸化成分を酸化する下流側触媒と
を具備することを特徴とする排気浄化装置。

前記下流側触媒は、触媒活性成分として少なくともロジウムを備える
ことを特徴とする[1]に記載の排気浄化装置。

前記上流側触媒は、触媒活性成分として少なくともパラジウムを備え、
前記下流側触媒は、触媒活性成分として白金とパラジウムとロジウムとを備える
ことを特徴とする[1]または[2]に記載の排気浄化装置。
[4]
前記下流側触媒の触媒活性成分含有量が、前記上流側触媒の触媒活性成分含有量よりも多い
ことを特徴とする[1]〜[3]のうちいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
[5]
前記下流側触媒の接触面積は、前記上流側触媒の接触面積よりも大きい
ことを特徴とする[1]〜[4]のうちいずれか1つに記載の排気浄化装置。
Claims (5)
- エンジンからの排気ガスを導く排気通路の途中に設けられた排気浄化装置において、
排気ガス上流側に配置されて、酸化力を備え、排気ガス中の被酸化成分を酸化する上流側触媒と、
前記上流側触媒の下流に配置されて、前記上流側触媒の総合的な酸化力よりも強い酸化力を備え、排気ガス中の被酸化成分を酸化する下流側触媒とを備え、
前記上流側触媒及び前記下流側触媒の総合的な酸化力は、触媒活性成分の種類と、触媒活性成分の含有量と、触媒活性成分と排気ガスとが接触する合計面積に基づいて設定され、
前記上流側触媒は、触媒活性成分としてロジウム以外の白金族元素を含み、
前記下流側触媒は、触媒活性成分として少なくともロジウムを含み、
前記上流側触媒は、前記被酸化成分の内、酸化されやすい成分を酸化し、
前記下流側触媒は、前記被酸化成分の内、前記上流側触媒で酸化されなかった成分を酸化するとともに、該下流側触媒を通過した排気ガスの温度を該上流側触媒を通過した排気ガスの温度よりも高くする
ことを特徴とする排気浄化装置。 - 前記上流側触媒は、触媒活性成分として少なくともパラジウムを備え、
前記下流側触媒は、触媒活性成分として白金とパラジウムとロジウムとを備える
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の排気浄化装置。 - 前記下流側触媒の触媒活性成分含有量が、前記上流側触媒の触媒活性成分含有量よりも多い
ことを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の排気浄化装置。 - 前記下流側触媒の接触面積は、前記上流側触媒の接触面積よりも大きい
ことを特徴とする請求項1〜3のうちいずれか1項に記載の排気浄化装置。 - 前記下流側触媒の前記排気ガスの流れ方向の長さが、前記上流側触媒の前記排気ガスの流れ方向の長さよりも長い
ことを特徴とする請求項1〜4のうちいずれか1項に記載の排気浄化装置。
