Claims (17)
- 複数の画素を含み、各画素が駆動トランジスタを含む表示部と、
前記複数の画素を制御して前記表示部に映像を表示する映像データ信号を生成する信号制御部と、
前記複数の画素について、各画素の駆動トランジスタの特性偏差を補償する補償データ信号を作成し、この補償データ信号を前記信号制御部の作成する映像データ信号に反映させる補償部であって、
前記複数の画素それぞれに対し、第1データ電圧の印加によって生成する第1画素電流、及び前記第1データ電圧を修正した第2データ電圧の印加によって生成する第2画素電流を測定する測定部と、
所定の基準しきい電圧及び基準移動度を有する基準画素に接続され、前記測定部と同一の回路構成を有するものであって、前記基準画素に対し、前記第1画素電流及び前記第2画素電流を測定するターゲット部と、
前記測定部及び前記ターゲット部の測定値の差値をとる比較部と、
前記比較部の差値に基づいて映像データ補償量を算出するものであって、前記比較部における差値が所定の臨界値以下となるまで、前記第2画素電流の測定を繰り返すように前記測定部及び前記ターゲット部を制御するSAR(Successive Approximation Register)ロジックと、
前記SARロジックの映像データ補償量をアナログ値の電圧に変換して前記複数の画素それぞれに伝達するコンバータと、を含み、
前記第1画素電流の測定と前記第2画素電流の測定のそれぞれで、前記複数の画素それぞれに接続された複数のデータ線に寄生するパネルキャパシタを初期化させる補償部を含む表示装置。 - 前記測定部は、
前記複数の画素それぞれの画素電流を測定電圧に変換する測定抵抗と、
所定のテストデータ電圧と前記測定電圧との差を出力する差動増幅器と、
前記測定抵抗に並列に接続して前記パネルキャパシタを初期化させるリセットスイッチとを含む、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記差動増幅器は、
前記所定のテストデータ電圧が入力される非反転入力端と、
前記複数のデータ線に接続する反転入力端と、
前記所定のテストデータ電圧と前記測定電圧との差を出力する出力端とを含む、請求項2に記載の表示装置。 - 前記リセットスイッチは、
前記差動増幅器の出力端に接続する一端と、
前記複数のデータ線に接続する他端とを含む、請求項3に記載の表示装置。 - 前記測定抵抗は、
前記差動増幅器の出力端に接続する一端と、
前記複数のデータ線に接続する他端とを含む、請求項3に記載の表示装置。 - 前記リセットスイッチは、前記画素電流を測定する前に導通されて、前記差動増幅器がソースフォロワ(source follower)になる、請求項2に記載の表示装置。
- 前記補償部は、前記リセットスイッチを導通させ、前記所定のテストデータ電圧で前記
パネルキャパシタを充電して初期化させる、請求項6に記載の表示装置。 - 前記比較部は、
前記測定部の出力電圧が入力される非反転入力端と、
前記ターゲット部の出力電圧が入力される反転入力端と、
前記測定部の出力電圧と前記ターゲット部の出力電圧との差を出力する出力端とを含む差動増幅器を含む、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 前記複数の画素それぞれを前記コンバータに接続させる第1選択スイッチと、
前記複数の画素それぞれを前記測定部に接続させる第2選択スイッチとを含むデータ選
択部をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の表示装置。 - 画素に接続するデータ線に寄生するパネルキャパシタをテストデータ電圧で充電させるパネルキャパシタ初期化段階と、
第1データ電圧を前記画素に印加して第1画素電流を生成させる段階と、
前記第1画素電流を測定電圧に変換して前記第1画素電流を測定する段階と、
前記画素の駆動トランジスタの特性偏差を補償できる、前記第1データ電圧を修正した第2データ電圧を前記画素に印加して、第2画素電流を生成させる段階と、
前記第2画素電流を測定電圧に変換して前記第2画素電流を測定する段階と
を含み、
前記第2画素電流を生成する段階において、前記第2データ電圧は、前記第1画素電流と、前記第1画素電流の測定に用いた回路と同一の回路構成を用いて、所定の基準しきい電圧及び基準移動度を有する基準画素について前記第1データ電圧を印加して生成された電流との差値に基づいて決定される表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記第2画素電流を測定した後に、前記画素の駆動トランジスタの特性偏差を補償する補償映像データ信号を生成する段階をさらに含む、請求項10に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記補償映像データ信号によるデータ電圧を選択して前記画素に伝達する段階をさらに含む、請求項11に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記第2画素電流を生成させる前に、前記パネルキャパシタをテストデータ電圧で充電させる段階をさらに含む、請求項10に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
- 前記第1画素電流を生成させる段階は、
前記第1データ電圧が出力されるコンバータと前記画素とを接続させる第1選択スイッチを導通させる段階と、
前記第1画素電流を測定する測定部と前記画素とを接続させる第2選択スイッチを遮断させる段階と
を含む、請求項10に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記第1画素電流を測定する段階は、
前記第1データ電圧が出力されるコンバータと前記画素とを接続させる第1選択スイッチを遮断させる段階と、
前記第1画素電流を測定する測定部と前記画素とを接続させる第2選択スイッチを導通させる段階とを含む、請求項10に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記パネルキャパシタは、前記テストデータ電圧が非反転入力端に入力される差動増幅器の反転入力端に接続され、
前記パネルキャパシタの初期化段階は、第1画素電流を前記測定電圧に変換させる測定抵抗に並列に接続されたリセットスイッチを導通させ、前記差動増幅器をソースフォロワにする、請求項10に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。 - 前記リセットスイッチは、前記第1画素電流を測定する段階及び前記第2画素電流を測定する段階で遮断された状態を維持する、請求項16に記載の表示装置の駆動方法。
