DuPont de Nemours, Inc.からのARACON(登録商標)として知られた金属被覆されたKEVLAR(登録商標)ヤーンである。ポリピロル(polypyrrole)からのそれらのような本来伝導性ポリマー ファイバーのクラスのメンバーもまた、本発明の実施例において有用である。加えてポリメチル メタクリレート ポリマーからのプラスチック オプティカル ファイバー(POF)も使用し得る。光をガイドするための機能性エレメントが望まれる場合、CROFON(登録商標)のようなPOFが使用し得る。例えば、高速光通信のための有用なPOFはステップ-インデックス タイプ(SI-POF)またはグレイデッド インデックス タイプ(GRIN-POF)であり得る。マルチモードまたはシングルモードのいずれかの種類のシリカ ガラス オプティカル ファイバーのクラスもまた、イーサネット(登録商標)、ファイバー チャネル、FDDI、ATM、およびトークン リング プロトコルに基づくファイバー オプティカル ネットワークのために適した機能性エレメントの有用なクラスを含む。
有用な接着剤の軟化点は一般に、90℃(194°F)を越えるのが期待され得、より好ましくは一般的に110℃(230°F)を越えるのが期待され得る。
本発明は以下に実施例の概説においてさらに示される。
表3に示される実施例において、2〜5インチ(5.1〜12.7cm)ワイド機能性積層体は、図1に概略的に描かれた装置を用いて用意される。積層体は表3に示され、表2に記載されたような機能性エレメントを有した。機能性エレメントは、図1に示されたような装置へ張力のもとにロールから供給された。異なる実施例として、表3に示されたような0.1インチ〜0.2インチ(2.5〜5.8mm)のピッチが用いられた。不織布の2つの層は、2つの不織布を有効に平面化するため、図1に示された装置へロール(例えばロール33および33'参照)によって十分な張力のもとに供給された。典型的に伝導性エレメントは、接着剤を導入する前に該構造へ導入された。しかしながら、伝導性エレメントの前のいくつかのサンプルでは、表3に示されるように接着剤もまた導入された。
USAのBostik Inc.の製品)が表3に示すように異なる比で用いられた。接着剤は149℃で加えられた。サンプルが1組のニップ ローラー(図1のニップ ロール50によって概略的に描かれたのと実質的に同じ)に入る速度は、適したニップ ロール圧力を用いて、表3に示されるように50ft/min〜200ft/min(15.2〜61.0m/min)へ変化した。このプロセスによって不織布の上面および底面層と伝導性フィラメントは、接着剤により接着された。
この実施例は少なくとも1つの変更した外側層を有する積層体を提供する。前記実施例におけるように、銅を基体とする伝導性エレメント、ワイヤー、リボン、および/または金属メッキ
ヤーンは、2つの不織層の間に導入され得る。(単数または複数の)伝導性エレメントは、不織布の2つの層の間にホット メルト接着剤で接着される。不織布の2つの層は実施例1におけるように、2つの不織布を効果的に平面化するために十分な張力のもとに(図1の33および33'のような)ロールに供給される。伝導性エレメント(銅リボン)は、張力をかけずに弛緩された状態にあり、接着剤は不織布の底面層上にメルト ブローされる。
Claims (8)
- (a)布地またはフィルムの第1の外側層および第2の外側層、
(b)前記布地またはフィルムの前記第1の外側層および第2の外側層と同じ方向に延びる少なくとも1つの機能性エレメント、および
(c)前記外側層間に前記機能性エレメントを接着する接着材
を含んでなる実質的に平坦な外観を有する機能性積層体であって、
前記機能性エレメントの複数が電気的伝導性を有していて、電気的伝導性を有する前記機能性エレメントの少なくとも2つが、該機能性積層体中において、互いに電気的に絶縁されていて、
各前記外側層は外面を有し、前記機能性積層体の末端は少なくとも1回それ自体の上に折り返され、そのような折られた端部は1つの前記外側層の前記外面に留められていることを特徴とする機能性積層体。 - 前記折られた端部は、糊留め、リベット留め、スナップ留め、縫い留め、ステープル留め、溶接、および包み留めからなるグループから選ばれる機械的留め機構によって留められている請求項1記載の機能性積層体。
- 前記布地またはフィルムの第1および第2の外側層の少なくとも一つは少なくとも一つのパーフォレーションホール(ビア)を有し、また、少なくとも一つの前記機能性エレメントの少なくとも一部は、前記機能性積層体の外側周囲に少なくとも一つの前記パーフォレーションホールを通して露出していて、これにより少なくとも一つの前記機能性エレメントの前記露出部分を電源に通じたコネクタに接続させる請求項1又は2の機能性積層体。
- 前記機能性エレメントは、絶縁された1本および複数の撚られた金属ワイヤー、絶縁されない1本および複数の撚られた金属ワイヤー、金属被覆ポリマー
ファイバー、本来備わった伝導性ポリマー ファイバー、および金属被覆フィルムからなるグループから選ばれる請求項1〜3のいずれかの1項に記載の機能性積層体。 - 第1の表面および第2の表面を有する非伸長性材料の所定の長さの第1の部品を用意し、
前記非伸長性材料と同じ方向に伸びる少なくとも1つの長さの機能性エレメントを伸ばして固定し、
伸ばされた長さの前記機能性エレメントを、固定された長さの実質的な部分に沿って、前記非伸長性材料の前記第1の部品の前記第1の表面に留め、
第1の表面および第2の表面を有する非伸長性材料の所定の長さの第2の部品を用意し、前記非伸長性材料の所定の長さの第2の部品を、前記機能性エレメントと同じ方向に伸びる長さの実質的な部分に沿って、前記機能性エレメントまたは前記非伸長性材料の前記第1の部品の前記第1の表面のいずれか一方に留め、機能性積層体を形成することを含んでなる、実質的に平坦な外観を有する機能性積層体の製造方法であって、
前記機能性エレメントの複数が電気的伝導性を有していて、電気的伝導性を有する前記機能性エレメントの少なくとも2つが、該機能性積層体中において、互いに電気的に絶縁されていて、
(i)前記機能性積層体の末端部を少なくとも1回それ自体の上に折り、(ii)そのような折られた端部を1つの外側層の外側表面に留めるステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする機能性積層体の製造方法。 - 留めるのは、糊留め、リベット留め、スナップ留め、縫い留め、ステープル留め、溶接、および包み留めからなるグループから選ばれる機械的留め機構である請求項5記載の方法。
- 前記非伸長性材料の第1の部品及び前記非伸長性材料の第2の部品の少なくとも一つは少なくとも一つのパーフォレーションホール(ビア)を有し、
