Claims (5)
- 一対の対向する基板と前記一対の基板間に狭持される液晶とを有し、
前記一対の基板の一方には、互いに略直交する複数のゲート配線及び複数のデータ配線と、各々の前記ゲート配線に略平行に配置される共通電極配線と、前記ゲート配線と前記データ配線とで囲まれる各々の画素に配置されるスイッチング素子と、前記スイッチング素子に接続される画素電極とを備え、前記共通電極配線に接続される共通電極と前記画素電極との間に印加する電圧によって、前記液晶を前記基板に略平行な面内で回転させる横電界方式の液晶表示装置において、
前記データ配線を挟むように前記共通電極と前記画素電極とが配置され、
前記一方の基板上に、少なくとも前記データ配線の形成領域に重なるように形成されたストライプ状の凸形状部を備え、前記凸形状部の一方の側壁の少なくとも一部を含む領域に前記画素電極が形成され、他方の側壁の少なくとも一部を含む領域に前記共通電極が形成されており、
前記画素電極は、前記データ配線と同層に形成された第1画素電極と、絶縁膜を介してその上層に形成され、コンタクトホールを介して前記第1画素電極に接続される第2画素電極とで構成され、前記第2画素電極と前記共通電極とが同層に形成されていることを特徴とする横電界方式の液晶表示装置。 - 一対の対向する基板と前記一対の基板間に狭持される液晶とを有し、
前記一対の基板の一方には、互いに略直交する複数のゲート配線及び複数のデータ配線と、各々の前記ゲート配線に略平行に配置される共通電極配線と、前記ゲート配線と前記データ配線とで囲まれる各々の画素に配置されるスイッチング素子と、前記スイッチング素子に接続される画素電極とを備え、前記共通電極配線に接続される共通電極と前記画素電極との間に印加する電圧によって、前記液晶を前記基板に略平行な面内で回転させる横電界方式の液晶表示装置において、
前記データ配線を挟むように前記共通電極と前記画素電極とが配置され、
前記一方の基板上に、少なくとも前記データ配線、前記ゲート配線及び前記共通電極配線の形成領域に重なるように形成された格子状の凸形状部を備え、前記データ配線に沿った前記凸形状部の一方の側壁の少なくとも一部を含む領域に前記画素電極が形成され、他方の側壁の少なくとも一部を含む領域に前記共通電極が形成されており、
前記画素電極は、前記データ配線と同層に形成された第1画素電極と、絶縁膜を介してその上層に形成され、コンタクトホールを介して前記第1画素電極に接続される第2画素電極とで構成され、前記第2画素電極と前記共通電極とが同層に形成されていることを特徴とする横電界方式の液晶表示装置。 - 前記データ配線が前記凸形状部の上部に形成され、前記第1画素電極及び前記第2画素電極が前記凸形状部の前記一方の側壁の少なくとも一部を含む領域に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2記載の横電界方式の液晶表示装置。
- 前記データ配線及び前記第1画素電極が前記凸形状部の下部に形成され、前記第2画素電極が前記凸形状部の前記一方の側壁の少なくとも一部を含む領域に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2記載の横電界方式の液晶表示装置。
- 前記凸形状部は、延在方向に直交する方向の断面が、両側の側壁が前記基板の平面に対して略等しい角度で傾斜する台形形状であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか一に記載の横電界方式の液晶表示装置。
