Claims (11)
- 概ね平行に配置された複数の線状又は棒状の光源と、長手方向が前記光源と実質上平行となるよう配置された導光板と、当該導光板の裏面に設けられた全反射手段と、前記裏面に対向する表面側に設けられた液晶パネルと、前記導光板と前記液晶パネルとの間に設けられた半透過反射手段とを有する液晶ディスプレイであって、
前記導光板の表面及び裏面がそれぞれ平面及び凹曲面であり、それによって前記導光板の厚みが、前記光源からの光が入射する当該導光板の端面から内部に進むに連れて薄くなっており、かつ前記端面が凸レンズ状に膨らんでおり、
前記半透過反射手段が導光部と、前記導光板に接触して前記導光部への光の進入を許容する複数の接触部を有している、
ことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 概ね平行に配置された複数の線状又は棒状光源と、当該光源を収容する複数の溝を備える導光板と、当該導光板の裏面に設けられた全反射手段と、前記裏面に対向する表面側に設けられた液晶パネルと、前記導光板と前記液晶パネルとの間に設けられた半透過反射手段とを有する液晶ディスプレイであって、
前記導光板の表面及び裏面がそれぞれ平面及び凹曲面であり、それによって前記導光板の厚みが、前記光源からの光が入射する当該導光板の端面から遠ざかるに連れて薄くなっており、かつ前記端面が凸レンズ状に膨らんでおり、
前記半透過反射手段が導光部と、前記導光板に接触して前記導光部への光の進入を許容する複数の接触部を有している、
ことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の液晶ディスプレイにおいて、
前記光源として一対の電極と該一対の電極を両端部に収容する管とを備える熱陰極型蛍光ランプを用い、
前記熱陰極型蛍光ランプは、前記管の両端部の直径よりも前記両端部間を結ぶ中間部分の直径の方が小さいことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 請求項1,2又は3に記載の液晶ディスプレイにおいて、
前記導光板と前記半透過反射手段との間の隙間に反射材が設けられている、
ことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 液晶パネルと、
導光部と、
第1の導光板と、
第2の導光板と、
第3の導光板と、
前記第1の導光板と前記第2の導光板との間に配置された第1の蛍光ランプと、
前記第2の導光板と前記第3の導光板との間に配置された第2の蛍光ランプと、
第1及び第2の反射板と、
前記第1、第2及び第3の導光板に接触して前記導光部への光の進入を許容する複数の接触部と、を備え、
前記第1の反射板は、前記液晶パネルの反対側である前記第1の蛍光ランプの後側に配置され、
前記第2の反射板は、前記液晶パネルの反対側である前記第2の蛍光ランプの後側に配置され、
前記第1、第2及び第3の導光板の前記導光部に面する側の表面は平面であり、裏面は凹曲面であり、それによって前記第1及び第3の導光板の各々の厚みが、前記光源からの光が入射する当該導光板の端面から遠ざかるに連れて薄くなっており、かつ前記第2の導光板の厚みが、前記光源からの光が入射する当該導光板の端面から内部に進むに連れて薄くなっている、
ことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 請求項5に記載された液晶ディスプレイにおいて、
前記第1、第2及び第3の導光板は、前記第1及び第2の蛍光ランプを収容する溝を形成していることを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 請求項5または6に記載された液晶ディスプレイにおいて、前記液晶パネルは、前記導光部の表面上に設けられていることを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。
- 請求項7に記載された液晶ディスプレイにおいて、
前記第1及び第2の蛍光ランプとして、電極が配される両端部の直径よりも当該両端部間を結ぶ中間部分の直径の方が小さい熱陰極型蛍光ランプを用いることを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 請求項1に記載された液晶ディスプレイにおいて、前記光源を部分的に覆い、前記光源からの光を反射するリフレクターを備えることを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。
- 請求項9に記載された液晶ディスプレイにおいて、
前記リフレクターの前記光源を覆う部分の断面形状を2重円形または2重楕円形としたことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。 - 請求項9に記載された液晶ディスプレイにおいて、
前記リフレクターと前記端面との連結部分である開口の幅が前記光源の径よりも小さいことを特徴とする液晶ディスプレイ。
