Description

図示のように、流体発生器54は、ガス発生剤60およびイニシエータ62を収容するハウジング58を有している。事故状態が生じた時点を決定するセンサ(図示せず)からの信号を受けたことに応答して、イニシエータ62はガス発生剤60を付勢し、加圧膨張ガスを発生する。
歩行者の衝突時にフード86を迅速に持上げることの目的は、歩行者に与える怪我を小さくすることにある。多くの場合、車両−歩行者の事故において歩行者は、その頭部または上体が高速でフード86に衝突し、次に車両72のエンジンブロックに衝突するようにして回転する。歩行者安全システム74を用いてフード86を迅速に持上げることにより、フード86は「圧壊容易ゾーン」に変形し、このため、フード86は歩行者をより漸次的に減速させて、歩行者の負傷の程度を最小にする。

Claims (13)
- モーションダンパ(42)が組み込まれた装置であって、このモーションダンパが、ダンパ壁(16)と、少なくとも2つのダンパ段(14a-14d)と、ダンパヘッド(12)とを備え、各ダンパ段は少なくとも1つの隣接ダンパ段に対して可撓性を有するように取付けられ、1つのダンパ段はダンパ壁(16)の一端に対して可撓性を有するように取付けられかつ他のダンパ段はダンパヘッド(12)に取付けられ、ダンパ壁およびダンパ段は連続的に小さくなっていくサイズを有し、ダンパ壁およびダンパ段は、作動前に、重なり合っており、ダンパ段(14a-14d)は、力が加えられたときに、ダンパ壁から離れる方向に入れ子式に伸長でき、ダンパ段はエネルギ吸収材料で作られている、前記モーションダンパが組み込まれた装置において、
前記装置には、さらに、減衰型アクチュエータ(40)が組み込まれ、この減衰型アクチュエータは、流体発生器(54)と、アクチュエータ壁(16)と、少なくとも2つのピストン段(14)と、ピストンヘッド(12)と、アクチュエータ壁(16)およびピストン段により少なくとも一部に形成された内部チャンバ(34)とを備え、各ピストン段は少なくとも1つの隣接ピストン段に対して可撓性を有するように取付けられ、1つのピストン段はアクチュエータ壁に対して可撓性を有するように取付けられかつ他のピストン段はピストンヘッド(12)に取付けられ、アクチュエータ壁およびピストン段(14)は連続的に小さくなっていくサイズを有し、流体発生器(54)は内部チャンバに流体連通しており、ダンパヘッドはピストンヘッド(12)に取付けられていることを特徴とする装置。 - 前記エネルギ吸収材料はプラスチックである請求項1記載の装置。

- 前記リニアアクチュエータ(44)は、一回だけ作動するリニアアクチュエータである請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記モーションダンパ(42)は、一回だけ作動するモーションダンパある請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記アクチュエータ壁(16)、ピストン段(14)およびピストンヘッド(12)は一体に形成されている請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記リニアアクチュエータ(44)およびモーションダンパ(42)は同軸状である請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記リニアアクチュエータ(44)は車両の第一部分に連結されており、前記モーションダンパ(42)は前記車両の第二部分に連結されている、請求項1乃至9の何れか1項に記載の装置を組み込んだ車両。
- 前記リニアアクチュエータ(44)は前記車両の第一部分に枢着されている請求項10に記載の車両。
- 車両の第一部分はシートである請求項11に記載の車両。
