Description
ビデオ・ピクチャ・ソース・モードと、ピクチャ間のパリティとを検出する工程と、
ソースがフィルム・モードにある場合、2フレーム・ラスタに用いる合計サブフィールド数を3つのサブフィールド群に分散させ、画素値に、3つのサブフィールド群にわたるアクティブ・サブフィールド期間の分散に相当する符号語を割り当てる工程と、
ソースがカメラ・モードにある場合、各フレーム・ラスタに用いる合計サブフィールド数を2つのサブフィールド群に分散させ、画素値に、2つのサブフィールド群にわたるアクティブ・サブフィールド期間の分散に相当する符号語を割り当てる工程とを備える。
2フレーム・ラスタにおいて、第1のピクチャがフィルム・モードにあり、第2のピクチャがカメラ・モードにある場合、欠落しているエネルギに相当する重みを有するサブフィールドを第2のフレームの最初に付加して正しい第1のピクチャを得る工程と、
合計サブフィールド数が通常のものよりも少ない2つのサブフィールド群を用いて第2のピクチャを符号化する工程と、次いで、
合計サブフィールド数が通常のものに等しい2つのサブフィールド群を用いて後続ピクチャを符号化する工程とを用いて行われる。
群2:2-4-5-6-7-10-13-17-21(9サブフィールド)
群3:3-4-5-6-7-10-13-17-21(9サブフィールド)
全ての重みの和は255.5に等しい。
群2:0.5-1-2-3-6-10-15-20-26(9サブフィールド)
群3:0.5-1-2-3-6-11-16-22-30(9サブフィールド)

フィルム・モード検出ブロック3の出力は、符号化を正しく選択する符号化選択ブロック4に転送される。
フィルム・モード選択の場合、40msフレーム・ラスタ内の3つのサブフィールド群の符号化
フィールド内でフィルム・モードからカメラ・モードに移る間の特定の切り換えモード
正しい符号化が選択され次第、ブロック5は、サブフィールド内のビデオを符号化するための正しいLUT(ルックアップテーブル)を選択し、これは、次いでPDP画面6に転送される。
Claims (8)
- ビデオ・ピクチャを処理し、該ビデオ・ピクチャをパルス幅変調駆動ディスプレイ装置上に表示する方法であって、前記ビデオ・ピクチャが、ディジタル符号化された画素から成り、ディジタル符号語は、ディスプレイの相当する画素が起動される期間の長さを定め、ディジタル符号語の各ビットに対して、サブフィールドと呼ぶ特定の起動期間が割り当てられ、特定の符号語による前記サブフィールドの期間の和は、前記相当する画素が起動される期間の長さを定め、
ビデオ・ピクチャ・ソース・モード、及びピクチャ間のパリティを検出する工程と、 ソースがフィルム・モードにある場合、2フレーム・ラスタに用いる合計サブフィールド数を3つのサブフィールド群に分散させ、画素値に、前記3つのサブフィールド群にわたるアクティブ・サブフィールド期間の分散に相当する符号語を割り当てる工程と、
ソースがカメラ・モードにある場合、各フレーム・ラスタに用いる合計サブフィールド数を2つのサブフィールド群に分散させ、画素値に、前記2つのサブフィールド群にわたるアクティブ・サブフィールド期間の分散に相当する符号語を割り当てる工程とを備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 請求項1記載の方法であって、前記3つのサブフィールド群のうちの各サブフィールド群、又は前記2つのサブフィールド群のうちの各サブフィールド群は、等しい数のサブフィールドを有しているか、又は、1だけ異なる数のサブフィールドを有していることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1又は2記載の方法であって、フィルム・モードにある前記3つのサブフィールド群、及びカメラ・モードにある前記2つのサブフィールド群が、少なくとも最上位サブフィールドに関して同一の構造を有することを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1乃至3のうちの何れか1項に記載の方法であって、前記3つのサブフィールド群が、少なくとも最下位サブフィールドに関して同一の構造を有することを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1乃至4のうちの1つに記載の方法であって、前記ビデオ・ピクチャ・ソース・モード、及びピクチャ間のパリティの検出が、フィールド内動きを解析することによって行われることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1乃至5のうちの1つに記載の方法であって、カメラ・モードにおいて用いる符号化からフィルム・モードにおいて用いる符号化への符号化の変更は、ソース・タイプ間の変動の検出に後続する次フレームで行われることを特徴とする方法。
- 請求項1乃至5のうちの1つに記載の方法であって、フィルム・モードにおいて用いる符号化からカメラ・モードにおいて用いる符号化への符号化の変更が、
2フレーム・ラスタにおいて、第1のピクチャがフィルム・モードにあり、第2のピクチャがカメラ・モードにある場合、サブフィールドと第1のフレームのサブフィールドとの合計起動期間がカメラ・モード・ピクチャの2つのサブフィールド群のサブフィールドの合計起動期間に実質的に等しいような重みを有するサブフィールドを第2のフレームの最初に付加する工程と、
合計サブフィールド数が、カメラ・モード・ピクチャの合計サブフィールド数よりも少なく、合計起動期間が、カメラ・モード・ピクチャを表示する期間に等しい2つのサブフィールド群を用いて前記第2のピクチャを符号化する工程と、
カメラ・モード・ピクチャを表示する期間に合計起動期間が等しい合計サブフィールド数を備えた2つのサブフィールド群を用いて後続ピクチャを符号化する工程とを用いて行われることを特徴とする方法。 - ビデオ・ピクチャを処理し、該ビデオ・ピクチャをパルス幅変調駆動ディスプレイ装置上に表示する装置であって、前記ビデオ・ピクチャが、ディジタル符号化された画素から成り、ディジタル符号語は、ディスプレイの相当する画素が起動される期間の長さを定め、ディジタル符号語の各ビットに対して、サブフィールドと呼ぶ特定の起動期間が割り当てられ、特定の符号語による前記サブフィールドの期間の和は、前記相当する画素が起動される期間の長さを定め、前記装置は、
ビデオ・ピクチャ・ソース・モード、及びピクチャ間のパリティを検出する検出手段と、
ソースがフィルム・モードにある場合、2フレーム・ラスタに用いる合計サブフィールド数を3つのサブフィールド群に分散させ、画素値に、前記3つのサブフィールド群にわたるアクティブ・サブフィールド期間の分散に相当する符号語を割り当て、ソースがカメラ・モードにある場合、各フレーム・ラスタに用いる合計サブフィールド数を2つのサブフィールド群に分散させ、画素値に、前記2つのサブフィールド群にわたるアクティブ・サブフィールド期間の分散に相当する符号語を割り当てる分散手段と
