Description
本發明係關於視頻圖像之處理方法和裝置,尤指供大面積閃爍效應和假輪廓效應降低。
具體而言,本發明密切關係到一種視頻處理,以供改進電漿顯示面板(PDP)的矩陣顯示器,具有數位微型鏡陣列(DMD)的顯示裝置,以及基於光射的責任週調變(脈寬調變)原理的各種顯示器,所顯示圖像之圖像品質。
雖然電漿顯示面板已知多年,電漿顯示器仍遇到TV廠家日增興趣。誠然,此科技可達成大型平面彩色面板,且深度有限,無任何視線角度限制。顯示器尺寸遠較傳統CRT影像管所容許者為大。
參見最新世代的歐洲電視機,進行許多作業以改進圖像品質。因此,亟需把電漿顯示科技等新科技所建造的電視機,以提供可媲美或勝過舊標準電視科技之圖像。
電漿顯示面板利用矩陣陣列之放電晶格,只能切換開或關。不像灰級利用光射的類比控制表達的CRT或LCD,在PDP內的灰級是利用每圖幅的光脈波數之調變加以控制。眼睛可在相當於眼睛時間反應的期間整合此項時間調變。
對靜態圖像而言,時間調變本身以等於所顯示視頻基準的圖幅頻率之基本頻率重複。由於CRT科技已知,以50赫基本頻率發射光,引進大面積閃爍,可在100赫CRT電視接收機內,利用圖場重複加以消弭。
與CRT中光射的責任週很短的情形相反的是,PDP內光射的責任週對中等灰級為~50%。此舉減少頻譜內50赫頻率成份之波幅,因而大面積閃爍假象,但由於PDP的面積較大,有較大視線角度,即使減少大面積閃爍,在圖像品質上成為可疵議。PDP目前趨勢在於增加尺寸和亮度,亦會造成
未來更形惡化。
由專利申請案EP 0 982 708號已知之解決方案是採用双尖峰碼,使用二組相同子圖場。但上述解決方案仍比同樣子圖場的單尖峰碼,遭遇更多的假輪廓。
本發明之目的,在於揭示一種方法和裝置,減少尤其是50赫視頻基準的PDP內之大面積閃爍假象,不會引進假輪廓效應。
此目的是利用一種視頻圖像之處理方法達成,圖像包含圖元,圖元係以數位方式寫碼,數位碼字決定顯示器相對應圖元活化期間之時間長度,其中對數位碼字之各位元指定某一活化期限,以下稱子圖場,按照指定碼字的子圖場期限合計,決定相對應圖元活化期間之時間長度,圖元之子圖場組織成接續二組,使得對一圖元值指定一碼字,把活性子圖場期間平均分佈於二子圖場組上。按照本發明,二組之實質上全部子圖場有不同的活化期限,對於達第一預定限度範圍的低圖元值和/或從第二限度起至高圖元值範圍內的全部圖元值(除了例外),都分裂成實質上相等之第一值和第二值,該第一值和第二值係編碼成第一碼字和第二碼字,該第一碼字係指定給二子圖場組之一的部份碼字,而第二碼字是指定給另一子圖場組的部份碼字。
該第一值和第二值在編碼成第一碼字和第二碼字之前,可施以抖色步驟。
此外,對增加到例如100赫頻率的視頻圖像序列而言,序列的偶數圖像之圖元值,以子圖場組之一的子圖場,而序列的奇數圖像之圖元值,以另一子圖場組的子圖場,加以編碼。
本發明又關係到一種視頻圖像之處理裝置,圖像包含圖元,圖元以數位方式寫碼,數位碼字決定顯示器的相對應圖
元活化期間之時間長度,其中對數位碼字之各位元指定某一活化期限,以下稱子圖場,按照指定碼字的子圖場期限合計,決定相對應圖元活化期間的時間長度,圖元之子圖場組織成接續二組,使得對一圖元值指定一碼字,把活性子圖場期間平均分佈於二子圖場組上。按照本發明,二組之實質上全部子圖場有不同的活化期限,並設有編碼機構,對於達第一預定限度範圍的低圖元值和/或從第二限度起至高圖元值範圍內全部圖元值,除了例外,各分裂成實質上同等的第一值和第二值,把該第一值和第二值編碼成第一碼字和第二碼字,該第一碼字是指定給二子圖場組之一的部份碼字,而該第二碼字是指定給另一子圖場組的部份碼字。
裝置可又包括抖色機構,供處理該第一值和第二值。對增加頻率的視頻圖像序列而言,編碼機構把序列的偶數圖像之圖元值,以二子圖場之一的子圖場,而序列的奇數圖像之圖元值,以另一子圖場組的子圖場,加以編碼。
本發明具體例以圖表示,並詳述如下。
並式尖峰碼的一般概念,是在光的二分封內有幾乎始終同樣的能量,並將此二分封用的碼字以不同方式編碼,使二分封碼字內不會同時出現子圖場碼字的變化。此目的在降低假輪廓效應。
本發明可用任何數目的子圖場。茲以15子圖場的並式尖峰碼加以說明。考量包括15子圖場的圖幅,有如下權值:1-2-3-5-7-9-11-14-17-20-24-28-33-38-43
第一步驟先把此等子圖場組織成接續二組。對各組指定部份子圖場碼字,此二組子圖場用來發生二分封的光。
例如,奇數子圖場組成第一組,稱G1,偶數子圖場組成第二組,稱G2。
G1:1-3-7-11-17-24-33-43
G2:2-5-9-14-20-28-38
當然,子圖場在二組間之分佈,可以不同方式進行。唯一條件是二組應包括不同權值的子圖場。再者,G1組子圖場可放在G2組子圖場之前或之後。
第二步驟,為各組子圖場選擇不同的寫碼。假輪廓的位階和並式尖峰碼所得抖色雜訊,再直接視二分封的光之各假輪廓和抖色雜訊而定。例如,可用下列編碼表。
-對於G1組(1-3-7-11-17-24-33-43)
-對於G2組(2-5-9-14-20-28-38)
所有視頻位階均未達成,故利用傳統的抖色步驟中,由可行的位階表達消失的視頻位階。為此目的需二獨立的抖色方塊。
然後,按照本發明,在二分封光之際,應發射同樣光能量。在本例中,例如對232以上的視頻位階,並非始終可行。再者,對最低視頻位階而言,宜只用一子圖場組的子圖場,以減少抖色雜訊。低視頻位階只有一分封光,但無關緊要,因為此等位階不會發生任何閃爍。
假如,設i為輸入視頻位階,a為指定給第一分封光的部份碼字值,b為指定給第二分封光的部份碼字值,a和b可按下述決定:對於0i1,a=i而b=0
對於1i2,a=1而b=i-1
對於2i232,a=i/2而b=i/2(232=2×116)
對於232i255,a=i-116而b=116
在第1圖中表示可能的電路實施方塊圖,供視頻位階編碼成子圖場碼字。例如來自視頻解伽瑪單位之輸入R,G,B視頻資料IN[9:0],前進到分裂機構10,用來為各輸入視頻資料,輸出a和b值。此等機構例如包括二查表(LUT),一供輸送a值,一供輸送b值。a(和b)值宜分別傳輸至抖色方塊11(或21),視需要發生可利用子圖場組G1(或G2)編碼之值,抖色值再前進至子圖場寫碼方塊12(或22),供輸出相對應子圖場碼字。此子圖場碼字可由顯示面板用於驅動面板的晶格之照明期間。
亦可使用圖幅頻率兩倍高的並式尖峰碼。例如,取代50赫視頻輸入,可有100赫視頻輸入,並視圖幅之同位(奇數或偶數),使用第一組或第二組子圖場(G1或G2),以及相對應的編碼表。當然,不限於100赫;亦可用於其他頻率,像72、75、80、85、90或甚至120赫。第2圖表示此項可能
性。計數是1-位元計數器,每一圖幅遞增。視其值(0或1),視頻以子圖場G1組和指定給此第一組(0的情況)的編碼表,或以子圖場G2組和指定給此第二組(1的情況)的編碼表,加以編碼。

Claims (6)
- 一種視頻圖像之處理方法,圖像由圖元組成,圖元係以數位方式寫碼,數位碼字決定顯示器相對應圖元活化期間之時間長度,其中對數位碼字之各位元指定某一活化期限,以下稱子圖場(SF),按照指定碼字的子圖場(SF)期限合計,決定相對應圖元活化期間之時間長度,圖元之子圖場(SF)組織成接續二組(G1,G2),使得對一圖元值指定一碼字,把活性子圖場期間平均分佈於二子圖場組(G1,G2)上,其特徵為,二組(G1,G2)之實質上全部子圖場有不同的活化期限,對於達第一預定限度範圍的低圖元值和/或從第二限度起至高圖元值範圍內之全部圖元值,除了例外,都分裂成實質上相等的第一值(a)和第二值(b),該第一值和第二值(a,b)係編碼成第一碼字和第二碼字,該第一碼字係指定給二子圖場之一的部份碼字,而第二碼字是指定給另一子圖場組的部份碼字者。
- 如申請專利範圍第1項之方法,其中對該第一值和第二值(a,b)在編碼成第一和第二碼字之前,施以抖色步驟者。
- 如申請專利範圍第1或2項之方法,其中對增加頻率之視頻圖像序列而言,序列的偶數圖像之圖元值,使用二子圖場組之一編碼成碼字,而序列的奇數圖像之圖元值,使用另一子圖場組編碼成碼字者。

- 如申請專利範圍第4項之裝置,其中又包括抖色機構(11,21),供處理該第一值和第二值(a,b)者。
- 如申請專利範圍第4或5項之裝置,其中對增加頻率之視頻圖像序列而言,編碼機構(10,12,22)把序列的偶數圖像之圖元值,以二子圖場之一的子圖場,而序列的奇數圖像之圖元值,以另一子圖場組的子圖場,加以編碼者。
