Description
本発明の他の目的、光触媒物質の存在を検知する指示薬を提供することにある。
酸化型と還元型とで物理的性質を異にする少なくとも一つのレドックス感受性物質と、少なくとも一つの犠牲電子供与体とを含有して光触媒物質と併用される指示薬であって、
光触媒物質を電子的に励起させるに必要なエネルギーに等しいか、それより大きいエネルギーの光に光触媒物質が照射されると、レドックス感受性物質が不可逆的に還元されて変色及び/又は発光強度の変化を起すことを特徴とする。
酸化型と還元型とで物理的性質を異にする少なくとも一つのレドックス感受性物質と、少なくとも一つの電子供与体又は少なくとも一つの電子受容体とを含有し、
前記のレドックス感受性物質と前記の電子供与体又は電子受容体とが互いに接触状態にある指示薬を、光触媒物質と共存させ、
光触媒物質が電子的に励起するに必要なエネルギーに等しいか、それ以上のエネルギーの光を、前記指示薬と共存する光触媒物質に照射して、前記のレドックス感受性物質還元し、当該レドックス感受性物質の色及び/又は発光強度を変化させることを特徴とする。
以下の説明では、二酸化チタンである半導体光触媒を検出する場合を例にとっているが、この説明は多くの金属酸化物又は多くの金属カルコゲニドを包含する他の半導体光触媒にも適用できるものである。
実施例1:メチレンブルー(MB/TEOA/HEC)−ガラス上のチタニア膜
液状指示薬を次のようにして調製した。
マグネチックスターラーを使用して、ヒドロキシエチルセルロース(HEC)の2.5重量%水溶液4gに、10mgのメチレンブルー(MB)と、0.4gのトリエタノールアミン(TEOA)を加え、30分混合して液状指示薬を得た。次いで、ナノ結晶のチタニア皮膜(厚さ4ミクロン)を備えた25mm平方のガラス片に、先に調製した液状指示薬を塗布して乾燥し、チタニア皮膜上に指示薬層を設けた。
指示薬フィルムは、次のように形成した。マグネチックスターラーを使用して、ヒドロキシエチルセルロース(HEC)の1.5重量%水溶液3gに、4mgのレサズリン(RZ)と、0.3gのグリセロールを加え、30分混合して液状指示薬を得た。次いで、チタニアのCVD皮膜(厚さ25nm)を備えた25mm平方のガラス片(厚さ4mm)に、前記の液状指示薬を塗布して乾燥してチタニア皮膜上に指示薬フィルムを形成した。
実施例8:メチルオレンジ−ガラス上のチタニア皮膜
つまり、上記供試体の青色領域は、UV光に曝されていない領域であり、無色領域はUV光に曝された領域である。しかし、当該供試体に使用されている指示薬インクは、可逆的な指示薬インクであるので、レドックス染料(メチレンブルー)は、UV光を照射した後、酸素によって徐々に酸化され、その色は無色からゆっくり元の青色に戻る。つまり、時間の経過と共に、Pilkingtonの文字とロゴは消失し、供試体は元の青色に復帰する。これに要する時間は10〜20分であり、最終的には供試体の外見は、光照射前の元の外見と同一になる。
Claims (24)
- 酸化型と還元型とで物理的特性が異なる少なくとも一つのレドックス感受性物質と、少なくとも一つの犠牲電子供与体とを互いに接触した状態で含有し、光触媒と接触状態で使用される指示薬であって、
前記レドックス感受性物質は、前記光触媒を電子的に励起させるのに必要なエネルギー以上のエネルギーの光に照射された際に、不可逆的に還元されるものであり、
前記光触媒を電子的に励起させるのに必要なエネルギー以上のエネルギーの光に照射された際に、前記レドックス感受性物質が不可逆的に還元されて変色及び/又は発光強度の変化を起こすことにより、光触媒の存在を視認させる光触媒検出用指示薬。 - 1000nm以下の波長、200〜1000nmの波長、300〜700nmの波長、又は420nm以下の波長を持つ光の照射に感応する請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記光触媒のバンドギャップエネルギー以上のエネルギーの光で活性化する請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 電子的に励起された前記光触媒が、指示薬中に存在する前記犠牲電子供与体を酸化するところの、還元機構で機能する請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記光触媒の還元が、前記レドックス感受性物質を、元の酸化型とは異なる色及び/又は発光強度を持つ還元型に還元する請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記レドックス感受性物質が、酸素に感応しない還元型であり、光の照射で前記レドックス感受性物質の色調が、常態の濃色から淡色に変化するか、あるいは別の色に変色すると、以後は空気酸化によって変色することがない請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記光触媒の表面を覆い、当該光触媒がそのバンドギャップエネルギーに等しいかそれ以上のエネルギーの光に曝されると、前記レドックス感受性物質が、元の酸化型から無色又は無発光の還元型に転化するために、前記レドックス感受性物質の色及び/又は発光強度が変化する請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記光触媒は、指示薬の下方に存在し、前記光触媒への光が照射されると、前記レドックス感受性物質が還元し、前記指示薬の当初の色及び/又は発光に目視可能な変化が起こることにより、前記光触媒の存在を視認させる請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 光触媒反応を生起させ、それに伴ってレドックス感受性物質の色及び/又は発光強度を変化させるために、指示薬の各成分が前記光触媒と接触している請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 指示薬がインクの形態にある請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記光触媒が基板上に設けた皮膜であり、前記皮膜上で乾燥薄膜の状態にある請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 指示薬が前記光触媒の表面に付着した乾燥皮膜である請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記レドックス感受性物質が、チアジン染料、オキサゼン染料、オキサゾン染料、テトラゾリウム染料、トリアリールメタン染料、アジン染料、アゾ染料、トリハロメタン染料、インドフェノール染料、インジゴ染料、ビオロゲン及びこれらの混合物のいずれかである請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記少なくとも一つの犠牲電子供与体が、アミン、還元糖、抗酸化剤、グリセロール、及びこれの混合物から選ばれる還元剤である、請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 併用される光触媒が半導体である請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記光触媒が、チタンの酸化物、タングステンの酸化物、亜鉛の酸化物、及びこれらの混合物、酸化カドミウム、硫化カドミウム、セレン化カドミウム、テルル化カドミウム、金属カルコゲナイド、及び窒素をドープした酸化チタン、から選ばれる請求項1記載の指示薬。
- 前記光触媒が、不活性基板又は不活性重合体基板に塗布されたナノ結晶のフィルムである請求項1記載の指示薬。
- さらにバインダーを含有し、
前記バインダーがゼラチン、ヒロドキシエチルセルロース(HEC)、ポリビニルアルコール(PVA)、エチルセルロース(EC)、酢酸セルロース(CEA)、ポリビニルピロリドン(PVP)、ポリエチレンオキサイド及びポリメチルメタクリレート(PMMA)から選ばれる請求項1記載の指示薬。 - バインダー及び溶剤をさらに有し、
前記レドックス感受性物質:前記犠牲電子供与体:前記バインダー:前記溶剤の重量比が、0.001〜0.1:0.05〜4.0:0.01〜1.0:1〜10、0.05〜0.5:0.1〜1.0:0.05〜0.5:3〜6、又は0.01:0.4:0.1:4である請求項1記載の指示薬。 - 酸化型と還元型とで物理的特性が異なる少なくとも一つのレドックス感受性物質と、少なくとも一つの犠牲電子供与体とを互いに接触した状態で含有し、光触媒と一緒に使用される指示薬であって、光触媒を電子的に励起するのに必要なエネルギー以上のエネルギーの光に照射された際に、前記レドックス感受性物質が不可逆的に還元されて変色及び/又は発光強度の変化を起こす指示薬を、光触媒に接触させる工程を含む光触媒検出方法。
- 前記レドックス感受性物質の還元型が空気中で安定であって、ウルトラバンドギャップの照射によるレドックス感受性物質の変色及び/又は発色強度の変化が恒久的である請求項20記載の方法。
- 検出される光触媒が二酸化チタンであって、触媒の検出に近紫外光が使用される請求項20記載の方法。
- 光照射に伴う色の変化が不可逆であって、それが酸化条件下でも非酸化条件下でも持続し、前記指示薬は光活性化工程中、ウルトラバンドギャップの光に過度に露呈されない請求項20記載の方法。
- オリジナルの酸化型とは異なる還元型に不可逆に還元されている前記指示薬を使用して、変色が実現される請求項23記載の方法。
