Description
ウェット・シーファー切断試験(Wet Schiefer Cut Test)
ウェット・シーファー切断試験を用いて、本発明の物品の相対的な磨耗性を評価した。試験する物品を直径薬4インチ(10.16cm)の円形試料に切断した。機械的ファスナー(ミネソタ州セントポールの3M社から市販されているスコッチメイト・デュアルロック(SCOTCHMATE DUAL−LOCK)SJ3224 Type 170または同等物)を使用して、シーファー摩耗試験機(Schiefer Abrasion Tester)(メリーランド州ヘーガーズタウン(Hagerstown,Maryland)のフレイジャー・プレシオン・インスツラメント社(Frasier Precision Instrument Company)から入手可能)の上部ターンテーブルに物品を固定した。試験される物品それぞれに対して、円形アクリル加工物を用いた(ニュージャージー州ロッカウェーのサイロ・インダストリーズ社(Cyro Industries,Rockaway,New Jersey)から商品名アクリライト(ACRYLITE)で市販されている、ロックウェルMボール硬度90〜105を有するポリメチルメタクリレート)。加工物は、直径約4インチ(10.16cm)、厚さ1/8インチ(0.317cm)であった。各加工物の初期乾燥重量を記録し、所定の位置に加工物を固定するためにスプリングクリップ保持プレートを備えた摩耗試験機の底部ターンテーブルの中央に加工物を置き、固定した。試験中速度40〜60滴/分でアクリルディスクの表面に水を落とし、回転数1,000に対して荷重2.26kg下にて試験を行った。次いで、加工物の最終重量を決定した。次いで、アクリルディスクの初期重量とアクリルディスクの最終重量の差として、シーファー切断を記録した。別段の指定がない限り、記録された試験結果は、試験されたパッドそれぞれの2つの主要面の平均である。
バイオーソフト(BIO−SOFT)D−40(ドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウム、固形分約40%、残りは水)は、イリノイ州ノースフィールドのステパン社(Stepan Company,Northfield,Illinois)から市販されている。
バイオーソフト(BIO−SOFT)N−300(ドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸トリエタノールアミン、固形分約60%、残りは水)は、イリノイ州ノースフィールドのステパン社(Stepan Company,Northfield,Illinois)から市販されている。
ジェムコレート(JEMCOLATE)ES−3(ラウリルエーテル硫酸ナトリウム、固形分約30%、残りは水)は、カナダ国オンタリオ州オークヴィル(Oakville,Ontario,Canada)のジェムパック・カナダ社(JemPak Canada,Inc.)から市販されている。
カーボワックス(CARBOWAX)SENTRY PEG 400 NF、FCCグレード、ポリエチレングリコールは、ミシガン州ミッドランドのダウ・ケミカル社(Dow Chemical Co.,Midland,Michigan)から市販されている。
ピアレス軽石FFFグレード(Peerless Pumice FFF grade)は、ニューヨークのチャールズ・B・クリスタル社(Charles B Crystal Co.,Inc.,New York)から市販されている。
バートン・ガーネット(Barton Garnet)研磨材,W−2グレードは、ニューヨーク州ノースクリークのバートン・マインズ社(Barton Mines Corporation,North Creek,New York)から市販されている。
LOSAN GREEN AS−MSFは、ロードアイランド州コベントリのクラリアント社(Clariant Corporation,Coventry,Rhode Island)から市販されている液体染料である。
NYLOSAN BLUEAS−BANは、ロードアイランド州コベントリのクラリアント社(Clariant Corporation,Coventry,Rhode Island)から市販されている液体染料である。
スラリー組成物
以下の成分のスラリー組成物を調製した。
最初に、「ランドウェッバー(Rando Webber)」ウェブ形成機械(ニューヨーク州マセドンのランド・マシーン社(Rando Machine Corporation,Macedon,NY)から入手可能)を使用して、長さ2インチ、50デニールのけん縮ポリエチレンテレフタレートステープルファイバーのウェブを形成し、厚さ約1.3インチ(33mm)のウェブを製造することによって、不織布パッドを作製した。樹脂材料を不織ウェブの繊維に適用し、その互いの接触箇所での繊維の結合を促進した。次いで、得られた被覆ウェブをオーブン乾燥させた。
以下のスラリー組成物を使用したことを除いては、実施例1に記載のように、不織布研磨パッドを作製した。

比較するために、パッドのサイズが、市販のパッドのサイズおよび形状に限定され、パッドの一方の面のみが試験され、試験がより攻撃的な設定(回転数1000の代わりに回転数5000)で行われたことを除いては、ウェット・シーファー切断試験を用いて、市販されている2種類の便器スクラブパッドを試験した。試験される2種類のパッド製品は、クロロックス・トイレット・ワンド(CLOROX TOILET WAND)(カリフォルニア州オークランドのクロロックス社(The Clorox Company,Oakland,California)から市販)およびスコッチブライト(SCOTCH−BRITE)使い捨て便器用スクラバーパッド(ミネソタ州セントポールの3M社から市販)であった。どちらのパッド製品のシーファー切断値も本質的にゼロであり、それによって、本発明のパッド製品よりも研磨性(abrasive)が低いことが示された。
Claims (3)
- 基材と、
重量平均分子量200,000未満を有する固化した水溶性界面活性剤バインダーと、
前記水溶性界面活性剤バインダーによって前記基材に剥離可能に固定された複数の研磨粒子と、
を含む研磨清掃物品であって、
前記研磨粒子が、溶媒と接触すると前記基材から剥離する、研磨清掃物品。 - 基材、および
研磨粒子を前記基材に剥離可能に固定するための研磨コーティングであって、重量平均分子量200,000未満を有する固化した水溶性界面活性剤バインダーから本質的になる研磨コーティング、
を含む研磨清掃物品であって、
前記研磨粒子が、水と接触すると、前記水溶性界面活性剤バインダーおよび基材から剥離する、研磨清掃物品。 - 基材を提供する工程と、
研磨粒子と重量平均分子量200,000未満を有する水溶性界面活性剤バインダーとのスラリーを混合する工程と、
前記基材を前記スラリーでコーティングする工程と、
前記スラリー中の前記水溶性界面活性剤バインダーを固化する工程と、
を含む、研磨清掃物品を製造する方法であって、
前記水溶性界面活性剤バインダーが、前記研磨粒子を前記基材に剥離可能に固定する、方法。
