Description
(発明の詳細な説明)
本発明は、内燃機関から出て来る排気ガス流れに存在する3種類の汚染物(未燃焼炭化水素、一酸化炭素および窒素酸化物)を転化することに加えて硫化水素の生成を抑制する触媒組成物に向けたものである。本発明の触媒組成物では、硫化水素を抑制する材料をスリーウエイ変換触媒活性を示す触媒材料のトップコートの下に位置するアンダーコートの中に隔離することで、従来技術の触媒組成物を用いた時にもたらされていた有害な相互作用の度合を有意に低くするか或は回避する。
アンダーコートのガンマアルミナ含有量を55.5%にし、Ce/Zr混合酸化物含有量を18.5%にし、酸化ランタン含有量を3.7%にし、ジルコニア含有量を3.7%にしそして酸化物(これは酸化バリウム、酸化第二鉄、酸化ストロンチウム、酸化カルシウムまたは酸化マンガンのいずれかである)含有量を18.55%にした。最初に、粉末にしたアルミナとCe/Zr複合材料を脱イオン水と一緒に充分に混合した。その後、硝酸ランタンの形態のランタン、硝酸ジルコニウムの形態のジルコニウムおよびバリウム、鉄、ストロンチウム、カルシウムまたはマンガンのいずれかの硝酸塩を添加することで、固体含有量が約45%でpHが約3.5−4.5のスラリーを生じさせた。次に、このスラリーを粉砕して粒子の90%が6ミクロメートル未満の粒子サイズになるまで小さくした。pHを約4に調整しかつ固体含有量をセラミック製モノリス型基質の被覆を基質体積16.4cm 3 当たり1.35gの充填率で行うに適切な濃度にすることで最終的なスラリーを得た。次に、このスラリーをセル数が16.4cm 3 当たり600のコーディエライト製モノリスに付着させた後、それに乾燥を105℃のオーブンで2時間そして焼成を550℃で1時間受けさせた。
中間層のガンマアルミナ含有量を59%にし、ジルコニア含有量を3.8%にし、白金含有量を1.2%にしそしてCe/Zr複合酸化物含有量を36%にした。モノエタノールアミン錯体の形態の白金を脱イオン水に入れてアルミナに含浸させた。脱イオン水を酢酸ジルコニウム溶液(最終的固体混合物に入っているジルコニアが3.8%であることに相当)と一緒に加えた。次に、残りの成分を加えることで固体含有量が約45%のスラリーを生じさせた。このスラリーのpHを約4に調整した後、粒子の90%が6−8ミクロメートルの範囲の粒子サイズを示すように粉砕した。次に、このスラリーを上記の、結果として得たアンダーコート付き(undercoated)材料の上に1.95g/立方インチの充填量で付着させた。その後、乾燥および焼成を上記と同じ様式で実施した。
この上方コートのガンマアルミナ含有量を48.5%にし、Ce/Zr混合酸化物含有量を42.8%にし、ジルコニア含有量を4.3%にし、結合剤であるアルミナの含有量を1.4%にし、白金含有量を2.6%にしそしてロジウム含有量を0.3%にした。脱イオン水に入っているモノエタノールアミン錯体の形態の白金そして脱イオン水に入っている硝酸ロジウムの形態のロジウムを逐次的にアルミナに含浸させた。次に、その結果として得たアルミナをCe/Zr複合酸化物と一緒に粒子の90%が6ミクロメートル未満の粒子サイズであると言った目標のサイズになるように粉砕した。次に、この最終スラリーを上記の結果として得た材料の中間コートの上に付着させた後、乾燥および焼成を上記に記述した如く実施した。
[比較実施例]−アンダーコートの調製
アンダーコートのガンマアルミナ含有量を49.8%にし、Ce/Zr混合酸化物含有量を22.7%にし、酸化カルシウム含有量を18.5%にし、酸化ランタン含有量を4.5%にし、ジルコニア含有量を4.5%にしそして酸化物(これは酸化バリウム、酸化第二鉄、酸化ストロンチウム、酸化カルシウムまたは酸化マンガンのいずれかである)含有量を18.5%にした。このアンダーコートの調製手順は実施例1に挙げた手順と同じである。
−中間コート−IIa族金属の酸化物が存在するコートの調製
中間コートのガンマアルミナ含有量を52.3%にし、酸化物(これは酸化バリウム、酸化第二鉄、酸化ストロンチウム、酸化カルシウムまたは酸化マンガンのいずれかである)含有量を11.4%にした。調製手順を実施例1に挙げたそれに従わせた。
−上方コートの調製
上方コートの組成および調製手順は実施例1に挙げたこれらと同じであった。
[実施例2]
直径が2.5cmで長さが7.5cmの寸法のセラミック製モノリスコア(core)サンプルの調製を実施例1及び比較実施例に挙げた触媒および手順を用いて実施した。硫化水素放出試験を実験室の反応槽を用いて実施した。この試験プロトコルは硫黄貯蔵段階と硫黄放出段階を伴っていた。貯蔵段階用供給ガスはH2O含有量が1%でO2含有量が1.09%でCO2含有量が14%でCO含有量が0.7%でC3H6含有量が0.07%でC3H8含有量が0.03%でH2含有量が0.23%でNO含有量が0.15%でSO2含有量が25ppmであり、その残りはN2であった。放出段階における供給ガスはH2O含有量が1%でO2含有量が0.5%でCO2含有量が14%でCO含有量が3.1%でC3H6含有量が0.07%でC3H8含有量が0.03%でH2含有量が1.03%でNO含有量が0.15%でSO2含有量が0ppmであり、その残りはN2であった。あらゆるサンプルに硫黄貯蔵をサンプルを550℃に維持しながら10分間受けさせた。以下の表1に挙げる結果は、IIa族金属の酸化物をアンダーコートに入れて単独で用いると結果として硫化水素放出量が低くなることを示している。この結果は、また、アンダーコートに酸化第二鉄でも酸化マンガンでもないIIa族金属酸化物を含有させると向上した結果が得られることも示している。
Claims (11)
- 硫化水素抑制用触媒であって、担体の上に分散している酸化ストロンチウムのアンダーコートと、支持体の上に分散しているスリーウエイ変換触媒材料を含んで成るトップコート層、を含んで成り、トップコート層はアンダーコートから隔離され、別々の層である触媒。
- 前記酸化ストロンチウムが更に酸化バリウムを含んで成る請求項1記載の触媒。
- 前記担体がハニカム構造を有する耐火性セラミック製もしくは金属製モノリスを含んで成る請求項1記載の触媒。
- 前記酸化ストロンチウムが前記担体の上に担体16.4cm 3 当たり0.005から1.0gの充填率で分散している請求項1記載の触媒。
- 前記アンダーコートが更に酸化ランタンも含んで成る請求項1記載の触媒。
- 前記トップコート層が前記アンダーコートの上に位置する中間層および前記中間層の上に位置する上方層を含んで成る請求項1記載の触媒。
- 前記スリーウエイ変換触媒材料が白金族金属触媒成分を含んで成る請求項1記載の触媒。
- 前記スリーウエイ変換触媒材料が耐火性金属酸化物である支持体の上に分散しておりそして前記支持体が10−15ミクロメートル以上の粒子サイズを有する微細な粒子を含んで成っていて担体16.4cm 3 当たり0.1から4.0gの量で存在する請求項1記載の触媒。
- 前記耐火性金属酸化物支持体が希土類成分でドーピングされたガンマアルミナを含んで成る請求項8記載の触媒。
- 前記トップコート層が更に結合剤も含んで成る請求項1記載の触媒。
- 請求項1〜10のいずれか1項記載の触媒を硫化水素抑制用スリーウエイ変換触媒として使用する方法。
