Description
周囲温度に応じた時間間隔で前記RAMに書き込まれた画像データの更新を行う方法が提案されている。( 特許文献2 参照)
図1に本発明の実施の形態1における液晶パネルの駆動方法を採用した液晶表示装置1のシステム構成図を示す。図1において、ノーマリーブラック液晶パネル2は互いに交差する複数のデータ配線3、4、5、6等と複数の水平走査配線7、8、9等でマトリックス状に構成されたアクティブマトリックス基板10と、それと対向する図示しない対向基板とが間隙を有し張り合わされ、その間隙に図示しない液晶を狭持している。ここで、説明の簡素化のために特定の一画素部の構成について詳しく説明し、後に液晶パネル2全体について説明する。

となり、2×Thと等しくなる。
先ず、本実施の形態2における液晶パネルの駆動方法を採用した液晶表示装置のシステム構成は、前述の実施の形態1にて示した図1と同様の構成であるので、ここでは詳しい説明は省略する。以降、図4のタイミングチャート図を用いて前記低温域における前記タイミング制御回路17の動作を説明する。
先ず、本実施の形態3における液晶パネルの駆動方法を採用した液晶表示装置のシステム構成は、前述の実施の形態1にて示した図1と同様の構成であるので、ここでは詳しい説明は省略する。以降、図4のタイミングチャート図を用いて前記低温域における前記タイミング制御回路17の動作を説明する。

Claims (4)
- 複数の水平走査配線および複数のデータ配線とで囲まれる複数の画素電極に接続された複数のスイッチング素子を前記水平走査配線により供給されるゲート選択信号によって導通制御し、これらのスイッチング素子を介して、前記データ配線により供給される画像データ信号を前記画素電極に供給するようにした液晶パネルの駆動方法であって、
前記液晶パネルの周囲温度を検出し、該周囲温度が常温域において、一フレーム毎に前記画像データ信号の極性を反転し、前記周囲温度が低温域においては二フレーム毎に前記画像データ信号の極性が反転するよう前記画像データ信号を制御することを特徴とする液晶パネルの駆動方法。 - 前記周囲温度が低温域において、前記画像データ信号の極性が反転しないフレームにおいて、一フレーム前のフレームと同一の画像データ信号を前記データ配線に印加するよう制御することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記低温域において、複数のフレームに対応する映像データから演算により前記画像データ信号を生成し、前記データ配線に印加するよう制御することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶パネルの駆動方法。
- 前記液晶パネルと、前記ゲート選択信号を前記水平走査配線へ供給する水平走査配線駆動回路と、前記画像データ信号を前記データ配線へ供給するデータ配線駆動回路と、前記液晶パネルの周囲温度を検出する周囲温度検出部と、前記水平走査配線駆動回路、前記データ配線駆動回路および前記周囲温度検出部に接続され、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の駆動方法により前記液晶パネルを駆動するタイミング制御回路を備えた液晶表示装置。
