Description
6.7mmである。10ミクロン程度からこの6.7mmの範囲で環状の液滴保持部の内径をコントロールすることは十分可能であり、このときの液の保持量は23ナノリットルから156マイクロリットルと計算される。これは保持できなくなるギリギリの保持量を計算しているので、実際にはこのサイズの径を持った液滴保持部でもさらに小さな液滴量を保持することは可能である。また上限に関していえば、深遠から外れた楕円形にすることによっても保持量を増やすことができる。つまりこの方法では10ナノリットルからサブミリリットルの範囲で液滴を保持して搬送できる。例えば直径1ミリメートルの環状保持部の場合、20マイクロリットル前後の液滴の保持および搬送が可能である。
さらに、マイクロプレート701は複数あってよく、取り外しも自由である。また液滴保持部も取り外し、洗浄・交換することも容易である。
Claims (8)
- 形状記憶合金で作製され液滴を内接させるらせん状の液滴保持部分を有する線材と、
前記線材と接続され前記液滴保持部分の形状を変化させるためのヒーターと、
前記ヒーターの熱を制御する制御部と、
前記液滴保持部分を移動させる移動手段とを有することを特徴とする液滴搬送手段。 - 前記液滴保持部分は、保持する液滴が前記液滴保持部分の下側もしくは両側に凸となるように前記液滴を保持することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液滴搬送手段。
- 前記液滴保持部分は、前記液滴の体積及び直径を各々V及びDとする球で近似したときに、前記液滴の内接径、表面張力、液の密度を、各々d、γ、ρ、とし、重力加速度をgとして、2πd×γ=V×ρ×g=(π/6)×D3×ρ×gを満たす液滴を保持することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液滴搬送手段。
- 前記線材は前記移動手段となる部位を備え、前記ヒーターは、前記移動手段に結合していることを特徴とする請求項1記載の液滴搬送手段。
- らせんの巻き数、直径、を各々n、dとし、前記線材の間隔をp、とするとき、前記液滴保持部分は前記液滴の体積Vについて実質的にV=πd2/4×p×nを満たす液滴を保持することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液滴搬送手段。
- 前記線材は、一端に突起部を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液滴搬送手段。
- 請求項6に記載の液滴搬送手段と、
前記液滴を格納するためのウェルと、
前記ウェルに設けられ、かつ前記突起部に引掛けるためのウェル突起部とを有することを特徴とする容器。 - 前記液滴保持部分を複数有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液滴搬送手段。
