Description
まず、本発明の一実施の形態におけるPDPの構造について説明する。図1は本発明の一実施の形態に用いられるPDPの構造を示す断面図であり、図1(a)は行方向に切断した断面図、同図(b)は列方向に切断した断面図である。前面板1上には、ストライプ状の走査電極2および維持電極3からなる表示電極4が行方向に平行に複数形成されており、表示電極4を覆うように誘電体層5が形成され、誘電体層5上に保護層6が形成されている。また、前面板1に対向して配置された背面板7上にはストライプ状のアドレス電極8が列方向に平行に複数形成されており、アドレス電極8を覆うように下地誘電体層9が形成されている。下地誘電体層9上にはアドレス電極8の間に位置しアドレス電極8に平行な列隔壁10が形成され、さらに表示電極4の間に位置し表示電極4に平行な行隔壁11が形成されている。そして、列隔壁10および行隔壁11で囲まれた空間には赤(R)、緑(G)、青(B)に発光する蛍光体層12が形成されている。表示の最小単位であるセルは、行方向に形成された表示電極4と列方向に形成されたアドレス電極8との立体交差部に形成される。そして各セルで放電により紫外線を発生させ、この紫外線で蛍光体層12を発光させて画像表示を行う。
次に、本発明の実施の形態2におけるPDPの点灯検査方法について説明する。実施の形態2において実施の形態1と異なる点は、PDP16の点灯検査を行うときのサブフィールドの書込みパターンである。
次に、本発明の実施の形態3におけるPDPの点灯検査方法について説明する。実施の形態3において実施の形態1、2と異なる点は、PDP16の点灯検査を行うときのサブフィールドの書込みパターンであり、他の構成は実施の形態1、2と同様である。

Claims (5)
- 行方向に形成された電極と列方向に形成された電極との立体交差部に複数のセルが形成され、初期化放電を発生させる初期化期間、書込みパルス電圧を印加してアドレス放電を発生させるアドレス期間および維持放電を発生させてセルを点灯させる放電維持期間を有するサブフィールドを複数用いて1フィールドを構成し、セルを点灯させるサブフィールドの組み合わせによって階調表示を行うプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法において、
所定のサブフィールドで、検査対象のセルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加せずに、前記検査対象のセルに隣接したセルのうち少なくとも1つのセルである特定セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加し、
次のサブフィールドで、前記検査対象のセルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加することを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。 - 特定セルは、検査対象のセルに対して行方向に隣接したセルであることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。
- 特定セルは、検査対象のセルに対して列方向に隣接したセルであることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。
- 特定セルは、検査対象のセルに対して対角方向に隣接したセルであることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。
- 特定セルは、検査対象のセルに対して、行方向、列方向および対角方向のうち少なくとも2つの方向に隣接したセルであることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。
