Description
図1は、本発明の実施の形態1におけるパネル10の構造を示す分解斜視図である。ガラス製の前面板21上には、走査電極22と維持電極23とからなる表示電極対28が複数形成されている。そして走査電極22と維持電極23とを覆うように誘電体層24が形成され、その誘電体層24上に保護層25が形成されている。背面板31上にはデータ電極32が複数形成され、データ電極32を覆うように誘電体層33が形成され、さらにその上に井桁状の隔壁34が形成されている。そして、隔壁34の側面および誘電体層33上には赤色(R)、緑色(G)および青色(B)の各色に発光する蛍光体層35が設けられている。
実施の形態1では、誘電体層24、33に異物が混入したり、あるいは誘電体層24、33内に生じた気泡によって部分的に層が薄くなってしまうことで放電セルの放電開始電圧が下がり、書込みがなされていないにもかかわらず維持放電が発生し、点灯してしまう放電セルを検出する構成について説明した。しかし、書込みがなされないまま点灯してしまう放電セルが発生する原因については、これ以外にも、例えば隔壁34の欠損によるもの等がある。

Claims (6)
- 行方向に形成された走査電極および維持電極からなる表示電極対と列方向に形成されたデータ電極とを有する放電セルを複数備えたプラズマディスプレイパネルを、前記放電セルで初期化放電を発生させる初期化期間と、前記放電セルに選択的に書込みパルス電圧を印加して書込み放電を発生させる書込み期間と、前記書込み期間において選択された放電セルで輝度重みに応じた回数の維持放電を発生させる維持期間とを有するサブフィールドを1フィールド期間内に複数設けて駆動し、前記放電セルを点灯させるサブフィールドを組み合わせて階調表示を行うプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法であって、
所定のサブフィールドで検査対象の放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加し、少なくともその直後のサブフィールドでは前記検査対象の放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加しない
ことを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。 - 所定のサブフィールドで検査対象の放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加し、その直後のサブフィールドから少なくともそのフィールドの最後のサブフィールドまで前記検査対象の放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加しない
ことを特徴とする請求項1に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。 - 所定のサブフィールド、および少なくともその直後のサブフィールドで、前記検査対象の放電セルに隣接する放電セルの少なくとも1つの放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加しない
ことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。 - 所定のサブフィールド、および少なくともその直後のサブフィールドで、前記検査対象の放電セルに隣接する放電セルの少なくとも1つの放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加する
ことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。 - 所定のサブフィールドに続く3つのサブフィールドのうちの少なくとも1つのサブフィールドにおいて、前記検査対象の放電セルに隣接する放電セルの少なくとも1つの放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加する
ことを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。 - フィールド内の最初のサブフィールドから所定のサブフィールドの直前のサブフィールドまでの間に、前記検査対象の放電セルおよび前記検査対象の放電セルに隣接する全ての放電セルに前記書込みパルス電圧を印加するサブフィールドを少なくとも1つ設けた
ことを特徴とする請求項4または請求項5に記載のプラズマディスプレイパネルの点灯検査方法。
