Description
a)iPBO‐5の全重量を基準として90重量%より高い、好ましくは95重量%より高いパーセントのパラフィン炭素(%CP)。
b)iPBO‐5の全重量を基準として2重量%より低い、好ましくは1.5重量%より低い、さらに好ましくは1重量%より低いパーセントの全芳香族炭素(%CA)。
c)5より低い、好ましくは3より低い、さらに好ましくは<1.5の低臭素価、あるいは5より低い、好ましくは3より低い低ヨウ素価。
d)流動点<−48℃。
e)100より高い、好ましくは110より高い、さらに好ましくは120より高い粘度指数。
(a)少なくとも一つの助触媒が群(i)アルコールからであり、少なくとも一つの助触媒が群(ii)酢酸アルキルからである場合に、
(1)BF3および少なくとも二つの異なる助触媒の存在下でα‐オレフィン原料をオリゴマー化する工程であって、前記原料は40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含み、前記助触媒は群(i)および(ii)から選ばれる工程、およびそれに続く
(2)残留不飽和物の少なくとも一部分の水素化工程
によって5cSt PAOを調製する工程、
(b)5cSt PAOと4cSt PAOとをブレンドして混合PAO組成物を作製する工程、および
(c)オプションとして基準原料を混合PAO組成物とブレンドする工程
を含むプロセスを提供する。
a)iPBO‐5の全重量を基準として90重量%より高い、好ましくは95重量%より高いパーセントの全パラフィン炭素(%CP)。
b)iPBO‐5の全重量を基準として2重量%より低い、好ましくは1.5重量%より低い、さらに好ましくは1重量%より低いパーセントの全芳香族炭素(%CA)。
c)5より低い、好ましくは3より低い、さらに好ましくは<1.5の低臭素価、あるいは5より低い、好ましくは3より低い低ヨウ素価。
d)流動点<−48℃。
e)100より高い、好ましくは110より高い、さらに好ましくは120より高い粘度指数。
(a)従来の潤滑剤基準原料、および
(b)水素化処理を施されたオリゴマー化α‐オレフィンを含む5cSt PAOであって、前記オリゴマー化α‐オレフィンは40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含むオレフィン原料から調製され、前記オリゴマー化α‐オレフィンはASTM D5800法の変法によって定められる約4から12%重量のノアク蒸発損失、およびASTM D5950法の変法によって定められる−40℃から−65℃の流動点を示す5cSt PAO
を含む完全に調合されたエンジンオイルを提供し、前記ASTM D5800法の変法は、温度計較正が年に一度実行されることを除けばASTM D5800法であり、前記ASTM D5950法の変法は、試験される潤滑剤が前記方法を実施する前に加熱されないことを除けばASTM D5950法である。
一つの実施態様では、本発明は潤滑剤組成物中の効果的な量の例えば極性および/または非極性の潤滑剤基準原料などの別の潤滑剤成分、および例えば酸化抑制剤、金属系および非金属系分散剤、金属系および非金属系界面活性剤、防食剤および防錆剤、金属活性低下剤、耐磨耗剤(金属系および非金属系、リン含有および非リン、硫黄含有および非硫黄型)、極圧添加剤(金属系および非金属系、リン含有および非リン、硫黄含有および非硫黄型)、膠着防止剤、流動点降下剤、ワックス調整剤、粘度調整剤、シール適合剤、摩擦調節剤、潤滑性剤、防汚剤、発色剤、消泡剤、乳化破壊剤、およびその他などの、しかしそれらには限定されない機能性添加剤とともに使用される。
一つの実施態様では、本発明は他の界面活性剤と組み合わせて使用される。適する界面活性剤には硫酸、フェノール、カルボン酸、リン酸、およびサリチル酸のアルカリ金属塩またはアルカリ土類金属塩が含まれる。
一般に、内燃機関潤滑油はエンジンに適当な耐磨耗保護を提供するために耐磨耗剤および/または極圧添加剤の存在を含む。エンジンオイル性能の仕様はますます改善されたオイルの耐摩耗性を目指して進む傾向を示してきた。耐磨耗性およびEP添加剤は金属部分の摩擦および磨耗を低下させることによってこの役割を果たす。
R3R4C=CR5R6
によって定義される。ここでR3、R4、R5、R6はそれぞれ独立に水素または炭化水素ラジカルである。好ましい炭化水素基はアルキルまたはアルケニル基である。R3、R4、R5、およびR6の任意の二つは結合して環状の環を形成することができる。硫黄化されたオレフィンおよびそれらの調製に関する別の情報は参照によって本明細書中に全体が組み込まれる米国特許第4,941,984号明細書中に見いだされる。
粘度指数向上剤(VI向上剤、粘度調整剤および粘度向上剤としても知られる)は高温および低温操作性を有する潤滑剤を提供する。これらの添加剤は高温でせん断安定性付与し、低温で満足できる粘度を付与する。
酸化防止剤は供用中の基準原料の酸化的な分解を遅らせる。そのような分解によって金属表面上での析出物、スラッジの存在、または潤滑剤中の粘度上昇を生じることがある。潤滑油組成物中で有用な非常に多様な酸化防止剤が公知である。例えば、参照によって本明細書中に全体が組み込まれる「潤滑剤および関連製品」中のクラマン(Klamann)の前記引用文献ならびに米国特許第4,798,684号および第5,084,197号明細書の開示を参照すること。
エンジン運転中に、オイル不溶性の酸化副生物が生成する。分散剤はこれらの副生物を溶液中に保つ助けとなり、従って金属表面上への副生物の析出を低減する。分散剤は無灰のこともあり、あるいは灰を形成する性質のこともある。好ましくは、分散剤は無灰である。いわゆる無灰分散剤は燃焼に際して実質的に灰を生じない有機物質である。例えば、非金属含有または金属をまったく含まないホウ素化分散剤は無灰と見なされる。対照的に、上記で考察した金属含有界面活性剤は燃焼すると灰を生じる。
所望するなら、従来の流動点降下剤(潤滑油流動性向上剤としても知られる)が本発明の組成物に添加されることがある。流体を流動させ、あるいは注ぐことができる最低温度を低下させるために、本発明の潤滑剤組成物に流動点降下剤を加えることがある。適する流動点降下剤の例はポリメタクリル酸エステル、ポリアクリル酸エステル、ポリアリールアミド、ハロパラフィンワックスと芳香族化合物との縮合生成物、カルボン酸ビニル重合体、およびジアルキルフマル酸エステルの三元重合体、脂肪酸のビニルエステルおよびアリルビニルエーテルを含む。参照によって全体として組み込まれる米国特許第1,815,022号、第2,015,748号、第2,191,498号、第2,387,501号、第2,655,479号、第2,666,746号、第2,721,877号、第2,721,878号、および第3,250,715号明細書には有用な流動点降下剤および/またはそれらの調製法が記載されている。本発明の一つの実施態様では、そのような添加剤は約0.01から5重量パーセント、好ましくは約0.01から1.5重量パーセントの量で使用される。
潤滑油組成物と接触する金属部品の劣化を低減するために腐食防止剤が使用される。適する防食剤はチアジアゾールおよびトリアゾールを含む。例えば、参照によって本明細書中に全体が組み込まれる米国特許第2,719,125号、第2,719,126号、および第3,087,932号明細書を参照すること。本発明の一つの実施態様では、そのような添加剤は約0.01から5重量パーセント、好ましくは約0.01から1.5重量パーセントの量で使用される。
シール適合性試薬は、流体中で化学反応またはエラストマー中で物理変化を引き起こすことによって、エラストマーシールを膨潤させる助けとなる。潤滑オイル用に適するシール適合性試薬は有機リン酸塩、芳香族エステル、芳香族炭化水素、エステル(例えばフタル酸ブチルベンジル)、およびポリ無水ブテニルコハク酸を含む。この型の添加剤は市販されている。本発明の一つの実施態様では、そのような添加剤は約0.01から3重量パーセント、好ましくは約0.01から2重量パーセントの量で使用される。
消泡剤は潤滑組成物に添加して有利に使用されることがある。これらの試薬は安定な泡の生成を遅らせる。シリコーンおよび有機重合体は一般的な消泡剤である。例えば、シリコンオイルまたはポリジメチルシロキサンなどのポリシロキサンは消泡性を提供する。消泡剤は市販され、乳化破壊剤などその他の添加剤と一緒に従来法の少量で用いられることがある。通常、組み合わされるこれらの添加剤の量は1パーセント未満、多くの場合0.1パーセント未満である。
防錆添加剤(または防食剤)は水またはその他の汚染物質による化学的な攻撃に対して被潤滑金属表面を保護する添加剤である。非常に多様な防錆添加剤が市販され、「潤滑剤および関連製品」中のクラマン(Klamann)の前記引用文献中でも参照されている。
潤滑油組成物が上記で考察した一つ以上の添加剤を含むとき、添加剤(単数または複数)は目的とする機能を実行するために十分な量で組成物中に混合される。本発明で有用なそのような添加剤の一般的な量を下記の表1に示す。
約50重量%のデセンおよび約50重量%のドデセンを含む5cSt PAOを用いて、潤滑剤を調合した。5cSt PAOは上記実施例3で説明したように調製した。約36重量%の5cSt PAOを従来法でデセンから調製した4cSt PAO約35重量%および共同基準原料として使用した約9.3重量%のアルキル化ナフタレンとブレンドした。この調合体は界面活性剤、分散剤、および抑制剤を含む19.8重量%の添加剤パッケージを含んでいた。重量百分率は完全に調合されたエンジンオイルを基準にしている。この潤滑剤に対してフォルクスワーゲン(Volkswagen)T‐4エンジン試験を実施した。試験結果を表5に示す。
従来のBF3重合によってデセンから調製した4cSt PAOを使用して潤滑剤を調合した。約46重量%の4cSt PAOを従来法でデセンから調製した6cSt PAO約25重量%および共同基準原料として使用した約9.1重量%のアルキル化ナフタレンとブレンドした。この調合体は界面活性剤、分散剤、および抑制剤を含む19.8重量%の添加剤パッケージを含んでいた。重量百分率は完全に調合されたエンジンオイルを基準にしている。この潤滑剤に対してフォルクスワーゲンT‐4エンジン試験を実施した。試験結果を表5に示す。
Claims (27)
- (a)40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含む5cSt PAO、および
(b)1‐デセンから調製された4cSt PAO
を含む基本原料を含む調合された潤滑剤(動粘度は100℃で測定)。 - 前記5cSt PAOが、50重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび50重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含む、請求項1に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記5cSt PAOが、4から12重量パーセントのノアク蒸発損失を有する、請求項1または2に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記5cSt PAOが、−40℃から−65℃の流動点を有する、請求項1から3の任意の請求項に記載の潤滑剤。
- 鉱物油または合成油をさらに含む、請求項1から4の任意の請求項に記載の潤滑剤。
- 界面活性剤、耐磨耗添加剤、極圧添加剤、粘度指数向上剤、酸化防止剤、分散剤、流動点降下剤、防食剤、シール適合添加剤、摩擦低下剤、および消泡剤の少なくとも一つをさらに含む、請求項1から5の任意の請求項に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記5cSt PAOは50から75重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび50から25重量%の1‐ドデセンを含む、請求項1に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記4cSt PAOは9から16重量パーセントのノアク蒸発損失を有する、請求項1から7の任意の請求項に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記4cSt PAOは−45℃から−65℃の流動点を有する、請求項1から8の任意の請求項に記載の潤滑剤。
- (a)40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含む5cSt PAO、および
(b)1‐デセンから調製された4cSt PAOを含む基本原料を含み、
前記5cSt PAOが、
(1)40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含むα‐オレフィン原料をBF3および少なくとも二つの異なる助触媒の存在下でオリゴマー化し、
ここで前記助触媒は群(i)アルコールおよび群(ii)酢酸アルキルから選ばれ、少なくとも一つの助触媒が群(i)アルコールからであり、少なくとも一つの助触媒が群(ii)酢酸アルキルからであることを条件とするオリゴマー化、および
(2)残留不飽和分の少なくとも一部分の水素化
を含むプロセスによって調製される、調合された潤滑剤(動粘度は100℃で測定)。 - 前記群(i)アルコールはC1〜C10アルコールから選ばれ、前記群(ii)酢酸アルキルはC1〜C10酢酸アルキルから選ばれる、請求項10に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記群(i)アルコールはC1〜C10アルコールから選ばれ、前記群(ii)酢酸アルキルはC1〜C6酢酸アルキルから選ばれる、請求項10に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記C1〜C10アルコールはエタノール、n‐プロパノール、n‐ブタノール、n‐ペンタノール、およびn‐ヘキサノールから選ばれる、請求項11または12に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記群(i)アルコールおよび前記群(ii)酢酸アルキル助触媒はそれぞれエタノールおよび酢酸エチルを含む、請求項10〜13の任意の請求項に記載の潤滑剤。
- 前記群(i)アルコールおよび前記群(ii)酢酸アルキル助触媒はそれぞれn‐ブタノールおよび酢酸n‐ブチルを含む、請求項10〜13の任意の請求項に記載の潤滑剤。
- (a)40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含む5cSt PAO、および
(b)5cSt未満の粘度を有する1‐デセンから調製された第二PAO
を含む調合された潤滑剤(動粘度は100℃で測定)。 - (a)40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含む5cSt PAO、および(b)1‐デセンから調製された4cSt PAOをブレンドし、混合PAO組成物を生成する工程を含む調合された潤滑剤の調製プロセス(動粘度は100℃で測定)。
- 前記5cSt PAOは50重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび50重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含む、請求項17に記載のプロセス。
- 前記5cSt PAOは4から12重量パーセントのノアク蒸発損失を有する、請求項17または18に記載のプロセス。
- 鉱物油または合成油を前記混合PAO組成物とブレンドする工程をさらに含む、請求項17〜19の任意の請求項に記載のプロセス。
- 界面活性剤、耐磨耗添加剤、極圧添加剤、粘度指数向上剤、酸化防止剤、分散剤、流動点降下剤、防食剤、シール適合添加剤、摩擦低下剤、および消泡剤の少なくとも一つを前記混合PAO組成物とブレンドする工程をさらに含む、請求項17〜20の任意の請求項に記載のプロセス。
- 前記5cSt PAOは
(a)40から80重量パーセントの1‐デセンおよび60から20重量パーセントの1‐ドデセンを含むα‐オレフィン原料をBF3および少なくとも二つの異なる助触媒の存在下でのオリゴマー化であり、
ここで前記助触媒は群(i)アルコールおよび群(ii)酢酸アルキルから選ばれ、少なくとも一つの前記助触媒が群(i)アルコールからであり、少なくとも一つの前記助触媒が群(ii)酢酸アルキルからであることを条件とするオリゴマー化、および
(b)残留不飽和物の少なくとも一部分の水素化
を含むプロセスによって調製される、請求項17に記載のプロセス。 - さらに、前記α‐オレフィン原料の前記オリゴマー化及び前記水素化により得られた水素化生成物を蒸留して、前記5cSt PAOと、4cSt PAOおよび6cSt PAOを製造する工程を含む、請求項22に記載のプロセス。
- 前記蒸留して製造された4cSt PAOが、9から16重量パーセントのノアク蒸発損失を有する、請求項23に記載のプロセス。
- 前記蒸留して製造された4cStPAOが、−45℃から−65℃の流動点を有する、請求項23に記載のプロセス。
- 前記蒸留して製造された6cStPAOが、−40℃から−60℃の流動点を有する、請求項23に記載のプロセス。
- 前記助触媒がα‐オレフィン原料の重量を基準として10重量パーセントからの量で使用され、前記群(ii)助触媒に対する前記群(i)助触媒の比が0.2から15の範囲にある、請求項22に記載のプロセス。
