Description
図1には収納ケースを連結した排気管の縦断面図を示す。図1において、円形断面の排気管1には途中にスピニング加工等による円筒状の収納ケース2が連結されて管路の一部を構成しており、収納ケース2は排気管1の管径よりも大径とした収納室21と、その後方に形成された連結部22を有している。連結部22は下流側排気管12に向けてテーパ状に漸次縮径して、その開口が下流側排気管12の開口に溶接連結されている。そして、収納室21内には円柱ハニカム構造の公知の触媒担体3が、その外周面を収納室21の内周面に接合されて収納されている。
本参考例では、収納ケース2の収納室21の前方に、上流側排気管11に向けてテーパ状に漸次縮径する連結部24が形成されてその開口が上流側排気管11の開口に溶接連結されている。そして、第1実施形態と同構造の拡張室25が収納室21に連続する後方に形成されて、その開口が下流側排気管12の開口に溶接連結されている。
図3に示すように、収納ケース2の、収納室21に連続する前後方にそれぞれ拡張室23,25を形成すれば、第1実施形態と参考例の効果が相乗してさらに効果的な排気ガス浄化が行われる。
排気管1に連結される拡張室23,25の開口縁を、排気管1に滑らかに連続するような曲面に成形すると排気ガスの拡張室23への流入ないし拡張室25からの流出がより円滑になされる。
Claims (1)
- 管路の途中に収納室を設けて当該収納室内に触媒担体を収納した車両の排気管において、前記収納室に連続する上流側に、全周が前記収納室の外壁から外方へ滑らかに膨出湾曲させられて頂部を形成した後、滑らかに漸次縮径させられて上流側管路に連結され、流入した排気ガスが一旦その室内一杯に拡散された後、その流束が絞られて前記触媒担体の端面全体に均等に流入させられる拡張室を設けたことを特徴とする車両の排気管。
