Description
本発明の他の長所は、並列に相互接続されたLEDを使用することにあり、これにより、故障したLEDが、同じ電気回路にある他のLEDの性能に悪影響を与える虞れを低減できる。

任意であるが、導電体12には、絶縁カバー14内に2つのディップ(溝)24a、24bを設ける。ディップ24a、24bは、それぞれの導電要素16a、16bの実質的に上方に配置される。LED20が導電体12に固定される前に、リード22はディップ24a、24b内に置かれ、従ってそれぞれの導電要素16a、16bに整合される。次に、ディップ22内に整合された後、リード22は絶縁カバー14に挿通され、かつ導電要素16内に挿入される。
Claims (13)
- チャンネル文字ハウジングと、
前記チャンネル文字ハウジングの壁に固定され、チャンネル文字の形状に従うように曲げられて配置された可撓性発光デバイスとを備え、前記可撓性発光デバイスは、
互いに電気的に隔絶された正および負の導電体を収容する電気的絶縁シースを備えた可撓性ケーブルを有し、シースは正の導電体と負の導電体との間に間隔を付与し、
ケーブル上で互いに間隔を隔てて配置される複数の発光ダイオード(LED)デバイスを有し、各LEDデバイスは、コネクタに取付けられた正および負のリードを備えたLEDを有し、コネクタは、LEDデバイスを可撓性ケーブルの一部に機械的に固定しかつ正および負のLEDリードを正および負の導電穿刺部材を介して正および負の導電体に電気的に接続し、導電穿刺部材はシースを穿刺してそれぞれの導電体との電気的接触を行ない、
絶縁シース内の正および負の導電体を含む面であるケーブル平面が形成され、可撓性電気ケーブルがケーブル平面から外れる方向の可撓性を有し、LEDはケーブル平面に平行な方向の光を放射することを特徴とするチャンネル文字システム。 - 各コネクタは、
LEDを受入れるLED取付け領域と、
コネクタを可撓性ケーブルの一部に固定するクランプ領域とを有し、クランプ領域は正および負の導電穿刺部材と可撓性ケーブルの正および負の導電体とを整合させ、各導電穿刺部材は、クランプ領域がそれぞれの導電体と電気的に接触するように固定されるときに絶縁シースを押し退ける絶縁穿刺端部を備えており、
コネクタを関連付けられた支持構造体に固定する固定領域を更に有することを特徴とする請求項1記載のチャンネル文字システム。 - 各コネクタは、
LEDを受入れるLED取付け領域を備えた第1セクションと、
該第1セクションと協働してクランプ領域を形成する第2セクションとを有し、
第1および第2セクションは、これらの間に配置された可撓性ケーブル部分と一体にスナップ嵌合してコネクタを可撓性ケーブルに固定し、スナップ嵌合により導電穿刺部材がシースに穿刺されてそれぞれの導電体と電気的に接触されることを特徴とする請求項1記載のチャンネル文字システム。 - 可撓性ケーブルは第1および第2可撓性ケーブルを有し、可撓性発光デバイスは更に、第1および第2可撓性ケーブルを機械的に連結しおよび電気的に接続するスプライスコネクタを有し、該スプライスコネクタは正および負の導電穿刺部材を備え、該導電穿刺部材は第1および第2ケーブルのシースを穿刺して、それぞれの導電体と電気的に接触することを特徴とする請求項1記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- 前記コネクタは、正および負のリードを受入れるLEDソケットを有し、LEDソケットはLEDを機械的に保持し、コネクタは更に、正のリードと正の導電体との間の第1導電経路と、負のリードと負の導電体との間の第2導電経路とを有し、第1および第2導電経路はケーブルシースの一部を押し退けることを特徴とする請求項1記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- 第1および第2導電経路の各々が、LEDリードと接触する導電要素を有し、該導電要素は、ケーブルシースの一部を押し退けかつそれぞれの導電体と接触する絶縁穿刺端部を備えていることを特徴とする請求項5記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- コネクタは、ケーブルの一部を包囲するようにクランプする第1および第2セクションを有し、第1および第2導電経路の絶縁穿刺端部はクランプ部分内に延び、クランピングに応答してケーブルシースを穿刺して、それぞれの導電体との接触を行なうことを特徴とする請求項6記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- LEDリードおよび導電要素は同種類の導電表面材料を有していることを特徴とする請求項6記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- 導電要素とLEDリードとの接触により、導電性半田の協働を要しない電気的接触を行なうことを特徴とする請求項6記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- 正および負の導電体、導電要素、およびLEDリードの各々は、これらの間の電気的接触表面での電解腐食を低減させるように選択された導電表面を有していることを特徴とする請求項6記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- 第1および第2導電性経路の各々が、導電要素を有し、該導電要素は、ケーブルシースの一部を押し退けかつそれぞれのケーブルワイヤと接触する絶縁穿刺端部を備えており、
アノードワイヤおよびカソードワイヤおよび導電要素は同種類の導電表面材料を有していることを特徴とする請求項7記載のチャンネル文字システム。 - 選択された文字または記号を形成するステンシルを更に有し、該ステンシル上には可撓性電気ケーブルが配置され、選択された文字または記号を照明することを特徴とする請求項5記載のチャンネル文字システム。
- 可撓性ケーブルの絶縁シースは、該シースの表面上に配置されかつ正および負の電気導電体に対応するディップを有し、ディップは導電穿刺部材の端部を受入れて、第1コネクタセクションおよび第2コネクタセクションが一体にスナップ嵌合する前に前記両セクションの間の可撓性ケーブル部分と整合することを特徴とする請求項3記載のチャンネル文字システム。
