Description
本発明は導電性ポリマーデバイスを含む回路保護アレンジメントに関し、およびそのようなアレンジメントを含む回路およびアセンブリに関する。
抵抗に関して正の温度係数(PTC挙動)を示す電気デバイスは回路保護デバイスとして用いられることはよく知られている。そのようなデバイスは一般に、粒状導電性フィラーが結晶性のポリマー成分中に分散した導電性ポリマー組成物から成るPTC要素(または素子)を含む。例えば金属シートの形態の第1および第2の電極が導電性ポリマーに取り付けられ、回路におけるデバイスへの電気的接続を可能にしている。通常のオペレーションの間、PTCデバイスは低抵抗、低温状態にある。例えば回路のショートなどに起因して非常に大きな電流状態が生じ、あるいは、例えばバッテリ用途における過度の充電の間などで非常に高い温度状態が生じたときに、デバイスは高抵抗、高温状態へと「スイッチ」または「トリップ」し、これにより、回路に流れる電流を減少させて低レベルとし、回路にある電気部品を保護する。
(1)(i)第1スイッチング温度Ts1を有し、(ii)20℃での抵抗R1を有し、(iii)第1特定温度での保持電流IH1を有し、および(iv)
(a)ポリマー成分およびその内部で分散した粒状導電性フィラーを含む第1導電性ポリマー組成物で構成された第1PTC抵抗要素と、
(b)第1PTC要素に取り付けられた第1および第2電極と
を含む第1PTCデバイスと、
(2)(i)第1PTCデバイスと直列に電気的に接続され、(ii)Ts1より低い第2スイッチング温度Ts2を有し、(iii)R1より小さい20℃での抵抗R2を有し、(iv)IH1より大きい第1特定温度での保持電流IH2を有し、および(v)
(a)ポリマー成分およびその内部で分散した粒状導電性フィラーを含む第2導電性ポリマー組成物で構成された第2PTC抵抗要素と、
(b)第2PTC要素に取り付けられた第3および第4電極と
を含む第2PTCデバイスと
を含み、
IH1は臨界温度TcritにてIH2と等しく、Tcritは
(A)Tcrit未満の温度では、第1PTCデバイスが高抵抗状態にスイッチし、および回路保護アレンジメントはリセット可能であり、ならびに
(B)Tcritより高い温度では、第2PTCデバイスが高抵抗状態にスイッチし、および回路保護アレンジメントを永久的にオープンにさせる動作を起こす
ように、第1特定温度よりも大きい、回路保護アレンジメントを提供する。
(I)バッテリと、
(II)第1および第2PTCデバイスがバッテリと電気接触する本発明の第1の要旨の回路保護アレンジメントと
を含む、バッテリアセンブリを提供する。
Claims (12)
- (1)(i)第1スイッチング温度Ts1を有し、(ii)抵抗R1を20℃にて有し、(iii)保持電流IH1を第1特定温度にて有し、および(iv)
(a)ポリマー成分およびその内部で分散した粒状導電性フィラーを含む第1導電性ポリマー組成物で構成された第1PTC抵抗要素と、
(b)第1PTC要素に取り付けられた第1および第2電極と
を含む第1PTCデバイスと、
(2)(i)第1PTCデバイスと直列に電気的に接続され、かつ、第1PTCデバイスから熱的に分離されており、(ii)Ts1より低い第2スイッチング温度Ts2を有し、(iii)R1より小さい抵抗R2を20℃にて有し、(iv)IH1より大きい保持電流IH2を第1特定温度にて有し、および(v)
(a)ポリマー成分およびその内部で分散した粒状導電性フィラーを含む第2導電性ポリマー組成物で構成された第2PTC抵抗要素と、
(b)第2PTC要素に取り付けられた第3および第4電極と
を含む第2PTCデバイスと
を含み、
IH1は臨界温度TcritにてIH2に等しく、Tcritは
(A)Tcrit未満の温度では、第1PTCデバイスが高抵抗状態にスイッチし、および回路保護アレンジメントはリセット可能であり、ならびに
(B)Tcritより高い温度では、第2PTCデバイスが高抵抗状態にスイッチし、および回路保護アレンジメントを永久的にオープンにさせる動作を起こす
ように、第1特定温度よりも大きい、回路保護アレンジメント。 - 動作は第1および第2デバイスと電気的に直列な温度ヒューズ要素を作動させることである、請求項1に記載の回路保護アレンジメント。
- 温度ヒューズ要素はTcritより高い温度にて溶融するハンダまたは導電性接着剤である、請求項2に記載の回路保護アレンジメント。
- 動作は第3または第4電極を第2PTC要素から層間剥離することである、請求項1に記載の回路保護アレンジメント。
- 第1および第2PTCデバイスは導電性基材に物理的および電気的に接続される、請求項1に記載の回路保護アレンジメント。
- T crit は少なくとも90℃である、請求項1に記載の回路保護アレンジメント。
- (I)バッテリと、
(II)第1および第2PTCデバイスがバッテリと電気接触する請求項1に記載の回路保護アレンジメントと
を含む、バッテリアセンブリ。 - T crit は少なくとも90℃である、請求項7に記載のアセンブリ。
- 動作は第1および第2デバイスと電気的に直列な温度ヒューズ要素を作動させることである、請求項7に記載のアセンブリ。
- 温度ヒューズ要素はT crit より高い温度にて溶融するハンダまたは導電性接着剤を含んで成る、請求項9に記載のアセンブリ。
- 温度ヒューズ要素はビスマスを含むハンダである、請求項10に記載のアセンブリ。
- バッテリはリチウムイオンバッテリまたはリチウムポリマーバッテリを含む、請求項7に記載のアセンブリ。
