Description
Claims (4)
- 記録磁界を発生する主磁極と、記録磁界の閉磁路を形成するためのリターン磁極と、クロストラック方向において主磁極から磁気的に離間して配置されたサイドシールドとを有する垂直記録用磁気ヘッドであって、
前記サイドシールドのトレーリング端の前記主磁極への最近接点が、前記主磁極のトレーリング端に対してリーディング側に位置し、
前記リターン磁極のリーディング端と前記サイドシールドのトレーリング端の前記主磁極への最近接点との間の距離SSWと、前記主磁極のポール長PLとの比SSW/PLが、1/3〜1であり、
前記主磁極と前記サイドシールドとの間の最短距離SSPと、前記リターン磁極のリーディング端と前記サイドシールドのトレーリング端の前記主磁極への最近接点との間の距離SSWとの比SSP/SSWが0.1以上0.7以下であり、
前記サイドシールドと前記リターン磁極とが前記主磁極から離間した位置で接合されていることを特徴とする垂直記録用磁気ヘッド。 - 前記主磁極と前記サイドシールドとの間の最短距離SSPと、前記リターン磁極のリーディング端と前記サイドシールドのトレーリング端の前記主磁極への最近接点との間の距離SSWとの比SSP/SSWが
0.1<SSP/SSW<−0.034×θb+0.67
(ここで、θbは主磁極のベベル角[deg]である)
の関係を満たすことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の垂直記録用磁気ヘッド。 - 前記主磁極のトレーリング端のコーナーから前記サイドシールドと前記リターン磁極の接合点までの距離BWと、前記主磁極と前記サイドシールドとの間の最短距離SSPとの比BW/SSPが3以上であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の垂直記録用磁気ヘッド。
- 基板上に軟磁性下地層および媒体面に対して垂直方向に磁化容易軸をもつ垂直記録層を有する磁気ディスクと、
請求項1ないし3のいずれか1項に記載の垂直記録用記録ヘッドを搭載し、前記垂直記録用記録ヘッドを前記磁気ディスク上に位置決めするロータリーアクチュエータと
を具備したことを特徴とする磁気ディスク装置。
