Description
伝送損失={−10×Log(Li1/Li2)}/L2 ×1000
目的とするプリフォーム15の外径に対応する内径を有する、充分な剛性をもった重合容器を用いてクラッド12を製造した。この重合容器は、内径22mm、長さ600mmの円筒状容器である。水分を100ppm以下となるように除去された全重水素化メチルメタクリレート(MMA−d8)を下記の各種添加剤等と混合し、50℃に温度調整した後、前記重合容器に所定量注入した。MMAの重合開始剤としてはジメチルアゾビスイソブチレートを用い、連鎖移動剤(分子量調整剤)としてはn−ドデシルメルカプタンを用いた。MMA−d8に対して、ジメチルアゾビスイソブチレートは0.05質量%、n−ドデシルメルカプタンは0.4質量%配合した。
ドーパントを全重水素化ブロモベンゼンに代えた以外は実験1と同様に実施した。得られた伝送損失データは、既に上記の第2の実施形態にて説明した図9〜図12である。

Claims (6)
- プラスチック光伝送体の乾燥時における第1伝送損失P1(単位;dB/km)と500nmから900nmまでの領域の波長との第1の関係を求める第1工程と、
前記プラスチック光伝送体の飽和吸水時における第2伝送損失P2(単位;dB/km)と前記領域の波長との第2の関係を求める第2工程と、
前記第2伝送損失P2から前記第1伝送損失P1を減じた伝送損失増加量L(単位;dB/km)と前記領域の波長との第3の関係を求める第3工程と、
前記伝送損失増加量を前記第1伝送損失で除した伝送損失増加比L/P1と前記領域の波長との第4の関係を求める第4工程と、
前記第1〜第4の各関係から、
0≦L/P1≦1と、
0<L≦100と、
0<L+P1≦200と、
を満たす波長を求めることにより、前記プラスチック光伝送体に含まれる水の水酸基(−OH)の振動吸収波長x(単位;nm)を前記領域の波長から除く第5工程とを有し、
前記プラスチック光伝送体と前記第5工程で求められる波長の光源とを用いることを特徴とする光通信方法。 - 前記光源の波長は、550nm以上705nm以下、または、794nm以上805nm以下の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の光通信方法。
- 前記プラスチック光伝送体の少なくとも導光部を構成するプラスチックが水素原子を含んだ非晶質ポリマーであり、前記水素原子が重水素であることを特徴とする請求項1または2記載の光通信方法。
- 前記非晶質ポリマーの吸水率が0.01%以上5%以下であることを特徴とする請求項3記載の光通信方法。
- 前記プラスチック光伝送体が、光を伝送する第1部材と第1部材よりも小さな屈折率を有する第2部材とを有し、
少なくとも前記第1部材が、前記光の前記伝送の方向に垂直な方向において異なる屈折率を有することを特徴とする請求項1ないし4いずれかひとつ記載の光通信方法。 - 前記プラスチック光伝送体が光ファイバであることを特徴とする請求項1ないし5いずれかひとつ記載の光通信方法。
