Description
(手段)
請求項1に記載の発明は、排気通路内に臨むように噴孔の形成された添加弁から排気中に添加剤を噴射して、排気に対して添加剤を添加する内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、当該内燃機関が加速状態にあるときに、排気中にスモークが多量発生する状況にあると予測する予測手段と、その予測手段によって前記スモークが多量発生する状況にあると予測されたときに、前記添加弁による前記添加剤の添加を強制的に実施させる強制添加手段と、を備えることをその要旨とする。
内燃機関の加速時等に、排気中にスモークが多量発生することがある。そうしたスモークの多量発生は、機関運転状態に基づき予測することができる。
また、内燃機関の排気系にNOx吸蔵還元型のNOx触媒が設けられる場合、NOx触媒にNOxとともに吸蔵された硫黄酸化物(SOx)によって低下したNOx吸蔵能力を回復するためにS被毒回復制御モードが行われる。そして、S被毒回復制御モードが開始されると、添加弁から排気へと継続的に燃料を添加することで、触媒床温を高温化する昇温制御が行われる。その後、添加弁からの間欠的な燃料添加を行い、間欠的にリッチスパイクを行うことで、NOx触媒からのSOxの放出及びその還元を促進して、上記NOx吸蔵能力の回復を図るようにしている。ここで、このS被毒回復制御モードにおいて、触媒床温が十分高温化された後は、間欠的にリッチスパイクを行うべく、比較的長いインターバルにて燃料添加が実施されるが、このときには排気も高温化されており、スモークが多量発生することはない。そのため、請求項2に記載の発明にように、同NOx触媒のS被毒回復制御モードにおいて同NOx触媒の昇温制御後に間欠的な燃料添加を行う際には、上記強制的な燃料添加は敢えて行わないようにする。
図1は、本実施形態の適用される内燃機関10の構成を示している。この内燃機関10は、コモンレール方式の燃料噴射装置、及びターボチャージャ11を備えるディーゼル機関となっており、大きくは吸気通路12、燃焼室13、及び排気通路14を備えて構成されている。
なお排気通路14の上記PMフィルタ26の上流側及び下流側には、PMフィルタ26に流入する排気の温度である入ガス温度を検出する入ガス温度センサ28、及びPMフィルタ26通過後の排気の温度である出ガス温度を検出する出ガス温度センサ29がそれぞれ配設されている。また排気通路14には、上記PMフィルタ26の排気上流側とその排気下流側との差圧を検出する差圧センサ30が配設されている。更に排気通路14の上記NOx触媒コンバータ25の排気上流側、及び上記PMフィルタ26と上記酸化触媒コンバータ27との間には、排気中の酸素濃度を検出する2つの酸素センサ31、32がそれぞれ配設されている。
同図に示すように、上記添加弁46は、特定の気筒の排気ポート22にあってその排気マニホールド23との接続部近傍に配設されている。添加弁46の先端部には、噴孔60が形成されており、その噴孔60から排気マニホールド23側に向けて燃料を噴射して、排気に対する燃料の添加がなされるようになっている。
ところで、このように排気通路14内に臨むように噴孔60の形成された添加弁46から燃料を噴射して、排気に対して燃料を添加する内燃機関10の排気浄化装置では、上述したように排気中に発生したスモークが添加弁46内部に侵入して、上記噴孔60等の詰りが発生することがある。次に、そうした添加弁46の詰り発生のメカニズムを、図4を参照して詳細に説明する。
さて本ルーチンの処理が開始されると、電子制御装置50は、まずステップS100において、詰り防止添加実施の前提条件が成立しているか否かの判定を行う。ここでの前提条件は、下記条件(a1)又は(a2)のいずれかが成立し、更に下記条件(a3)が成立していることをもって成立する。
(a1)上記通常制御モードにあり、且つ下記の三条件のすべてが成立している。
・触媒床温が所定値Ta以上、且つ所定値Tb未満である。ここでの触媒床温としては、上記出ガス温度センサ29の検出値と、機関運転状態(機関回転速度、燃料噴射量等)の推移とに基づいて推定された値が用いられる。なお、上記所定値Ta,Tbには、添加された燃料がそのまま外気に排出されてしまわない程度の触媒の活性状態が確保可能であり、且つ排気に対する燃料添加に伴う温度上昇によって触媒床温が過昇温となることを回避可能な触媒床温の下限値及び上限値がそれぞれ設定されている。
・排気温度が所定値Tc以上、且つ所定値Td未満である。ここでの排気温度としては、上記入ガス温度センサ28の検出値が用いられる。なお、上記所定値Tc、Tdには、添加された燃料がそのまま外気に排出されてしまわない程度の触媒の活性状態が確保可能であり、且つ排気に対する燃料添加に伴う温度上昇によって触媒床温が過昇温となることを回避可能な排気温度の下限値及び上限値がそれぞれ設定されている。
・エンジンストール時、気筒判別完了前、及びアクセル開度制限の実施中のいずれにも該当しない。
(a2)上記NOx還元制御モードにある。
(a3)前回の燃料添加の実施から所定時間が経過している。
(b1)加速判定条件成立しており、内燃機関10が加速状態にある。
(b2)上記通常燃焼モードと上記低温燃焼モードとの間での燃焼モードの切替中である。
同図の例では、時刻t1から内燃機関10の加速され、機関回転速度、アクセル操作量、燃料噴射量が増大している。そしてその後、加速に伴って瞬時スモーク発生量が急激に増大している。
(1)本実施形態では、排気中のスモークの多量発生を機関運転状態に応じて予測するとともに、そうしたスモークの多量発生が予測されたときには、添加弁46による燃料添加が強制的に実施される。そのため、スモークが多量発生したときの添加弁46内部は、燃料が充填された状態となり、その内部へのスモークの侵入が防止されることから、添加弁46の詰りを好適に抑制することができる。
・スモークの多量発生時に伴う添加弁46の詰りのみを抑制するのであれば、上記詰り防止添加制御のステップS120の処理は省略しても良い。
Claims (2)
- 排気通路内に臨むように噴孔の形成された添加弁から添加剤を噴射して、排気に対して添加剤を添加する内燃機関の排気浄化装置において、
当該内燃機関が加速状態にあるときに、排気中にスモークが多量発生する状況にあると予測する予測手段と、
その予測手段によって前記スモークが多量発生する状況にあると予測されたときに、前記添加弁による前記添加剤の添加を強制的に実施させる強制添加手段と、
を備えることを特徴とする内燃機関の排気浄化装置。 - 前記内燃機関の排気系にはNOx吸蔵還元型のNOx触媒が設けられ、同NOx触媒のS被毒回復制御モードにおいて同NOx触媒の昇温制御後に間欠的な燃料添加を行う際には、前記強制添加手段による前記添加剤の添加を禁止する請求項1に記載の内燃機関の排気浄化装置。
