Description

【発明の詳細な説明】 （技術分野） 本発明はマスカラアプリケータおよびそのマスカラケ
ースに関する。
（背景技術） 一般に内部にペースト状のマスカラを入れた円筒状の
ケースと共に、マスカラアプリケータとしての細棒部材
が使用されている。この細棒部材のブラシ付設側の端部
をマスカラケース内に挿入することにより、ブラシにマ
スカラが付着される。使用者はブラシと反対側の、細棒
部材の端部を把持しブラシをまつ毛に対し動かすことに
より、マスカラがまつ毛に塗布され得る。
このようなマスカラアプリケータの使用時に生じる一
の問題は細棒部材の端部がこれと連係するハンドルによ
り位置決めされる軸線に沿つて置かれることに起因す
る。この場合ハンドルおよび細棒部材を使用者の目に向
かつて移動する際、細棒部材の一端部が使用者の目に接
触したり損傷を与える危惧がある。
上述の問題点を処理すべく提案されたマスカラアプリ
ケータが米国特許第4,165,755号に開示されている。こ
の場合細棒部材のブラシの一端部がハンドルの一端部に
対し旋回可能にして装着されており、細棒部材に付設さ
れたブラシ端部はハンドルの軸線に対し直角方向に向け
ることが可能になる。一方、ブラシ端部は細棒部材の片
側にのみに装着されるため、塗布時に使用者は細棒部材
を使用していない反対側の手に握り変えないと、マスカ
ラを目の各端部に位置するまつ毛に対し塗布することが
困難になる。また細棒部材を旋回するので、ブラシ端部
が幾分不安定になり、従つてマスカラアプリケータの使
用が煩雑になつている。
更に細棒部材をマスカラケースから取出す度にハンド
ル端部に対しブラシ端部を直角方向に変位する必要があ
る。この構成では勝手が悪く、更に使用者の指がブラシ
端部と接触し、マスカラが付着して汚れる可能性があ
る。
上述した問題点は米国特許第4,428,388号に開示され
るマスカラアプリケータにおいても同様であり、この場
合ブラシ端部は非弾性を示す程度に柔軟な細棒部材を曲
げることにより直角位置へ変位可能に設けられる。
（発明の開示） 本発明は上記の問題点を克服し得るマスカラアプリケ
ータ、即ちアプリケータとマスカラを収容するケースと
の組合せを提供することを目的とする。
本発明においてはマスカラアプリケータがハンドルと
ハンドルに装着される細棒部とからなり、細棒部にはハ
ンドルから伸びる第１のロツド部と、第１のロツド部に
対し直角方向に伸びる第２のロツド部とが具備される。
ブラシは第２のロツド部の外側円周部において外側へ向
かつて突出している。第２のロツド部は第１の端部およ
びこれと対設された第２の端部とを有する。第１のロツ
ド部は第１および第２の端部の双方から離間された位置
において第２のロツド部と交差するように設けられ、ブ
ラシはこの交差位置の両側に配設される。この交差位置
において第２のロツド部の対向する両端部間の中間に配
設されることが好ましい。またこの交差位置は両端部の
一方に接近させて配設してもよい。
第２のロツド部は直線的にあるいは円弧状に形成さ
れ、その湾曲内側がハンドルと対向するよう配設し得
る。ブラシは第２のロツド部の円周部に沿つて螺旋状に
配設されることが好ましい。
マスカラを入れるマスカラケースはその断面形状が長
楕円形にされ、その寸法は第２のロツド部がマスカラケ
ース内に挿入でき且つ第１のロツド部に対し直角方向に
向けられ得るように設定される。
（図面の簡単な説明） 本発明の目的および利点は添付図面に沿い好ましい以
下の実施例の詳しい説明が進むにつれ明らかとなろう。
図１はマスカラケースおよびこれと連結されたマスカ
ラアプリケータの斜視図、図２は図１に示すマスカラケ
ースおよびマスカラアプリケータの側面図、図３はマス
カラケースおよびマスカラアプリケータの分解側面図、
図４はマスカラアプリケータの別の実施例の部分側面
図、図５はマスカラアプリケータの更に別の実施例の部
分側面図である。
（発明を実施するための最良の形態） マスカラアプリケータ10にはアプリケータ12とアプリ
ケータを内部に挿入するマスカラケース14とが包有され
る。アプリケータ12は細棒部17とハンドル16とを有す
る。細棒部17の一端部はハンドル16に付設され、対向す
る端部にはブラシ18が具備される。細棒部17は細い第１
のロツド部20と細い第２のロツド部24とからなり、第１
のロツド部20は第２のロツド部24の両端部26、28から等
距離、離間された接合部30において第２のロツド部24に
対し連結される。
ブラシ18は好ましくは第２のロツド部24の全長に沿う
周知の螺旋パターンに設けられ得、第２のロツド部24の
全円周部から外側へ突出する。且つブラシは接合部30の
両側に配置される。
ブラシ18はまた螺旋状に配列せずに、ランダムに第２
のロツド部24から半径方向外側へ突出するよう構成する
こともできる。一方いずれの場合も、ブラシは第２のロ
ツド部24の円周部全体から延出される。第１および第２
のロツド部20、24は比較的剛性のある材料で作られ、非
弾性的で、それ程変形されない。
使用時に使用者はハンドル16を摘まみ、細棒部17を保
持して、第１のロツド部20を垂直方向に向け、第２のロ
ツド部24を水平方向に向けた上、使用者のまつ毛列の長
手方向に平行にする。次に使用者は細棒部17を垂直方向
に移動することによりブラシ18よりまつ毛にマスカラを
塗布する。
ブラシ18は接合部30の両側に配置されているため、手
首を単に曲げることにより、まつ毛列の両端部にマスカ
ラを比較的容易に塗布できる。仮にブラシが接合部30の
片側にのみに配置される場合は、マスカラをまつ毛列の
両端部に塗布するために、使用者は細棒部を反転するこ
とが必要になり、使い勝手が悪くなろう。
第２のロツド部24がハンドルの軸線に合致されない構
成をとつているため、使用者は第２のロツド部24の一端
部を目に直接接触させる危惧は低くなろう。従つて使用
に際し安全性が保証される。
細棒部の別の実施例が図４および図５に夫々示されて
いる。図４の場合、第１のロツド部20Aと第２のロツド
部24Bとの間の接合部30Aが第２のロツド部24Aの一方の
端部26Aより他方の端部28Aに接近させて配設される。こ
の場合第１のロツド部20Aはハンドルの長手軸線Ａに対
し傾斜させることが好ましい。
図５の場合、ブラシを具備する第２のロツド部24Bが
円弧状に構成され、第２のロツド部24Bの凹ませた側が
第１のロツド部20Bに向くよう配設される。
マスカラケース14は円筒状の基部32とマスカラ収容部
34とからなる。マスカラ収容部34は塗布するマスカラを
収容するように設けられる。このマスカラ収容部34はほ
ぼ長楕円形をなしており、横断寸法Ｌはブラシを具備す
る第２のロツド部24が内部に挿入され得るよう十分に長
手に設けられる。
横断寸法Ｌは0.75〜0.10インチ台にすることが好まし
い。
マスカラケースは例えば、ハンドル16の環形リツジ部
42にスナツプ嵌めし得るような周知の構成でアプリケー
タに着脱可能に抱合される。
本発明の好ましい実施例に沿つて上述したが、添付の
請求の範囲に含まれる本発明の技術思想および範囲から
離れる事なく構成の付加、変更、置換あるいは構成の割
愛が可能であることは当業者には理解されよう。

Claims (16)

    (57)【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】細棒部と細棒部に装着されたハンドルとを
    備え、細棒部にはハンドルから延びる第１のロツド部と
    第１のロツド部に対し直角方向に延びる第２のロツド部
    とが包有され、第２のロツド部の外側円周部の周囲から
    外側へブラシが延出され、第２のロツド部は対向する第
    １および第２の端部を有し、第１のロツド部は第１およ
    び第２の端部の両方から離間された接合部において第２
    のロツド部と交差し、ブラシが接合部の対向両側に配設
    されてなるマスカラアプリケータ。
  2. 【請求項２】第１のロツド部および第２のロッド部が剛
    性の材料で作られてなる請求の範囲１のマスカラアプリ
    ケータ。
  3. 【請求項３】接合部が対向する端部間の中間に配置され
    てなる請求の範囲１のマスカラアプリケータ。
  4. 【請求項４】接合部が対向する端部の一方より他方の端
    部に接近して配置されてなる請求の範囲１のマスカラア
    プリケータ。
  5. 【請求項５】第１のロツド部がハンドルの長手軸線に対
    しある角度をなして延び、長手軸線が第２のロツド部の
    中間点と交差するよう構成されてなる請求の範囲４のマ
    スカラアプリケータ。
  6. 【請求項６】ブラシが螺旋パターンで構成されてなる請
    求の範囲１のマスカラアプリケータ。
  7. 【請求項７】第２のロツド部が円弧状に設けられその凹
    み側がハンドルと対向されてなる請求の範囲１のマスカ
    ラアプリケータ。
  8. 【請求項８】アプリケータは細棒部と細棒部に装着され
    るハンドルとを有し、細棒部はハンドルから延びる第１
    のロツド部と第１のロツド部に対し直角方向に延びる第
    ２のロツド部とを有し、第２のロツド部の外側円周部か
    ら外側へブラシが突出され、マスカラケースは断面を長
    楕円形としたマスカラ収容部を有し、マスカラ収容部の
    横断寸法Ｌは少なくとも第２のロツド部の対応する横断
    寸法と同寸にして第２のロツド部がマスカラケース内に
    挿入可能に且つ第１のロツド部に対し直角方向に向けら
    れるように設定されてなる、マスカラケースとマスカラ
    ケース内に挿入可能なアプリケータとの組合せ体。
  9. 【請求項９】第２のロツド部が第２のロツド部の２つの
    対向端部から離間された接合部において第１のロツド部
    と連結され、ブラシが接合部の両側に配置されてなる請
    求の範囲８の組合せ体。
  10. 【請求項１０】接合部が対向する端部の間に中間の配置
    されてなる請求の範囲９の組合せ体。
  11. 【請求項１１】接合部が対向する端部の一方より他方の
    端部に接近して配置されてなる請求の範囲９の組合せ
    体。
  12. 【請求項１２】第１のロツド部がハンドルの長手軸線に
    対しある角度をなして延び、長手軸線が第２のロツド部
    の中間点で交差するように構成されてなる請求の範囲11
    の組合せ体。
  13. 【請求項１３】第１のロツド部および第２のロツド部が
    剛性の材料で作られてなる請求の範囲８の組合せ体。
  14. 【請求項１４】ブラシが螺旋パターンで構成されてなる
    請求の範囲８の組合せ体。
  15. 【請求項１５】第２のロツド部が円弧状に設けられ、そ
    の凹み側が第１のロツド部と対向して配置されてなる請
    求の範囲８の組合せ体。
  16. 【請求項１６】マスカラケースの円筒状の基部がマスカ
    ラを収容するマスカラ収容部と連結され、基部がハンド
    ルに対し連結可能に設けられてなる請求の範囲８の組合
    せ体。
