Abstract
Description
上記化学式1で表される化合物の含有量は、非水電解質の総重量に対して2重量%~50重量%である、リチウム二次電池用非水電解質を提供する。

R1及びR2は、1つ以上のフッ素で置換された炭素数1~8のアルキル基である。
本発明のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質は、下記化学式1で表される化合物;ニトリル系溶媒を90vol%~100vol%の含有量で含む有機溶媒;及びリチウム塩を含み、
上記化学式1で表される化合物の含有量は、非水電解質の総重量に対して2重量%~50重量%である。

上記化学式1において、
R1及びR2は、1つ以上のフッ素で置換された炭素数1~8のアルキル基である。
本発明の一実施態様において、上記化学式1のR1は、1つ以上のフッ素で置換された炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、前記R2は、1つ以上のフッ素で置換された炭素数2~6のアルキル基であってもよい。
本発明のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質は、フッ素系アクリレート/メタクリレート化合物である下記化学式2で表される化合物をさらに含んでもよい。
R3は、水素;又は炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、
R4は、1つ以上のフッ素で置換された炭素数1~10のアルキル基である。
本発明の有機溶媒は、ニトリル(Nitrile)系溶媒を必須成分として含む。ここで、ニトリル系溶媒とは、-C≡N官能基を含む有機溶媒を意味する。
前記リチウム塩は、リチウム二次電池用電解質に通常用いられるものであれば制限なく使用可能であり、例えば、陽イオンとしてはLi+を含み、陰イオンとしてはF-、Cl-、Br-、I-、NO3 -、N(CN)2 -、BF4 -、ClO4 -、B10Cl10 -、AlCl4 -、AlO4 -、PF6 -、CF3SO3 -、CH3CO2 -、CF3CO2 -、AsF6 -、SbF6 -、CH3SO3 -、(CF3CF2SO2)2N-、(CF3SO2)2N-、(FSO2)2N-、BF2C2O4 -、BC4O8 -、BF2C2O4CHF-、PF4C2O4 -、PF2C4O8 -、PO2F2 -、(CF3)2PF4 -、(CF3)3PF3 -、(CF3)4PF2 -、(CF3)5PF-、(CF3)6P-、C4F9SO3 -、CF3CF2SO3 -、CF3CF2(CF3)2CO-、(CF3SO2)2CH-、CF3(CF2)7SO3 -及びSCN-から選択される1種以上を含むリチウム塩を用いることができる。
本発明のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質は、高電圧環境で非水電解質が分解されて電極の崩壊が誘発されることを防止したり、低温高率放電特性、高温安定性、過充電防止、高温での電池膨張抑制効果などをさらに向上させるために、必要に応じて、前記非水電解質中に添加剤を選択的に含んでもよい。
次に、本発明によるリチウム二次電池について説明する。
前記正極は、正極集電体上に正極活物質、バインダー、導電材及び溶媒などを含む正極合剤スラリーをコーティングして製造することができる。
前記負極は、例えば、負極集電体上に負極活物質、バインダー、導電材及び溶媒などを含む負極合剤スラリーをコーティングして製造するか、炭素(C)からなる黒鉛電極又は金属自体を負極として用いることができる。
本発明によるリチウム二次電池は、前記正極と負極との間に分離膜を含む。
(1)非水電解質の製造
N-メチル-2-ピロリドン(NMP)に正極活物質(LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2;NCM811)、導電材(カーボンブラック)及びバインダー(ポリビニリデンフルオリド)を96.8:1.0:2.2の重量比で添加して、正極スラリーを製造した。前記正極スラリーを20μmの厚さの正極集電体であるアルミニウム(Al)薄膜に45μmの厚さで塗布及び乾燥し、その後ロールプレス(roll press)を実施して、ローディング量が2.8mAh/cm2である正極を製造した。
N-メチル-2-ピロリドン(NMP)に正極活物質(LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2;NCM811)、導電材(カーボンブラック)及びバインダー(ポリビニリデンフルオリド)を96.8:1.0:2.2の重量比で添加して、正極スラリーを製造した。前記正極スラリーを20μmの厚さの正極集電体であるアルミニウム(Al)薄膜に76μmの厚さで塗布及び乾燥し、その後ロールプレス(roll press)を実施して、ローディング量が4.8mAh/cm2である正極を製造した。
(一般のローディング電極を適用した電池の製造)
前記一般のローディング正極、無機物粒子(Al2O3)が塗布されたポリオレフィン系多孔性分離膜、及び前記一般のローディング負極を順次積層して、電極組立体を製造した。
前記一般のローディング正極の代わりに高ローディング正極を、一般のローディング負極の代わりに高ローディング負極を適用したことを除き、上記と同様の方法で高ローディング電極を適用した、実施例B-1~B-8のリチウム二次電池を製造した。
(1)非水電解質の製造
上記実施例の一般のローディング電極の製造過程と同様の過程で正極及び負極を製造した。
上記実施例の高ローディング電極の製造過程と同様の過程で正極及び負極を製造した。
(一般のローディング電極を適用した電池の製造)
前記一般のローディング正極、無機物粒子(Al2O3)が塗布されたポリオレフィン系多孔性分離膜、及び前記一般のローディング負極を順次積層して、電極組立体を製造した。
前記一般のローディング正極の代わりに高ローディング正極を、一般のローディング負極の代わりに高ローディング負極を適用したことを除き、上記と同様の方法で高ローディング電極を適用した、比較例B-1~B-8のリチウム二次電池を製造した。
実験例1:電解質のイオン伝導度の評価
上記実施例1~5、7、8及び比較例1~3で製造された非水電解質のイオン伝導度をMETTLER TOLEDO社のSeven Excellence S700装置を用いて25℃の条件で測定した。具体的には、イオン伝導度測定用プローブ(probe)が浸るように水槽(bath)に実施例1~5、7、8及び比較例1~3の電解質をそれぞれ満たし、その後含浸されたプローブを用いてイオン伝導度を測定した。測定されたイオン伝導度の値を下記表3に記載した。
実施例3~5、7、8及び比較例1、3、5~8で製造された非水電解質の分離膜への含浸性を直径20mm、厚さ3.2mmの2032コインセルを用いて25℃の条件で測定した。具体的には、ポリエチレン生地にAl2O3とPVdFが両面コーティングされた分離膜を直径18mmに打抜きし、その後それぞれの電解質に24時間含浸させ、前記コインセル間に挿入してセルを組み立てた。組み立てられたコインセルをEIS装置(Biologic potentiostat)を用いて交流インピーダンスを測定し、電解質含浸分離膜のフィルムイオン伝導度を測定した。このように測定されたフィルムイオン伝導度を電解質のイオン伝導度で割ると発現率が計算される。発現率は、電解質が分離膜にどのくらい含浸されたかを示す指標であって、値が高ければ電解質の分離膜含浸に優れていることを示す。測定された発現率の値を下記表4に記載した。
実施例1~5、7、8及び比較例1、3で製造された非水電解質の正極への含浸性は、接触角測定器(Drop shape analysis system,DSA100)を用いて25℃の条件で測定した。具体的には、各非水電解質5μlを前記高ローディング正極の表面に落とし、その後正極の表面と電解質滴(droplet)の角度を測定した。接触角は、電解質の正極親和度を示す指標であって、値が低ければ電解質の正極への含浸性に優れていることを示す。測定された接触角を下記表5に記載した。
電解質の難燃性は、炎を電解質に接触させる方法で難燃性の評価を行った。具体的には、実施例1~8及び比較例4~6で製造された非水電解質1mLをそれぞれ別のペトリディッシュに入れてライターの炎を3秒間接触させ、その後電解質の発火の有無を確認した。発火の有無は表6の通りであり、実施例5の発火評価過程を時間順に撮影した写真を図1に示した。
実施例A-1~A-5、A-7、A-8及び比較例A-1、A-3、A-6~A-8のリチウム二次電池を24時間25℃のオーブンに保管して含浸させ、その後セル抵抗を1kHz抵抗テスター(Hioki)で測定し、その結果を下記表7に記載した。
実施例B-3、B-5及び比較例B-5のリチウム二次電池をそれぞれ25℃で0.1Cの速度で3時間SOC30%まで充電してフォーメーション工程を行い、その後24時間エージングし、次いで脱ガス工程を行った。脱ガスが終わったリチウム二次電池を25℃で0.1Cの速度で4.2VまでCC-CV(constant current-constant voltage)条件で充電し、0.1Cの速度で3.0VまでCC条件で放電した。前記充放電を1サイクルとして2サイクルの初期充放電を実施した。
実施例A-1~A-3、並びに比較例A-3及びA-6のリチウム二次電池をそれぞれ25℃で0.1Cの速度で3時間SOC30%まで充電してフォーメーション工程を行い、その後24時間エージングし、次いで脱ガス工程を行った。脱ガスが終わったリチウム二次電池を25℃で0.1Cの速度で4.2VまでCC-CV(constant current-constant voltage)条件で充電し、0.1Cの速度で3.0VまでCC条件で放電した。前記充放電を1サイクルとして2サイクルの初期充放電を実施した。
容量維持率(%)=(各サイクル毎の放電容量/初期充放電後の放電容量)×100
上記実施例B-4~B-8、並びに比較例B-3、B-4及びB-6~B-8のリチウム二次電池に対して、上記実験例7と同様の過程で容量維持率を評価した。また、45℃でも同様に容量維持率を評価し、その結果は下記表10に記載した。

- 下記化学式1で表される化合物;ニトリル系溶媒を90vol%~100vol%の含有量で含む有機溶媒;及びリチウム塩を含み、
前記化学式1で表される化合物の含有量は、非水電解質の総重量に対して2重量%~50重量%である、リチウム二次電池用非水電解質:

- 前記R1は、-(CF2)nCHF2であり、
前記R2は、-(CF2)mCHF2であり、
前記nは、1~4の整数であり、
前記mは、2~5の整数である、請求項1または2に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。 - 前記化学式1で表される化合物は、下記化学式1Aで表されるものである、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質:
- 前記化学式1で表される化合物の含有量は、前記非水電解質の総重量に対して3重量%~30重量%である、請求項1から4の何れか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。
- 下記化学式2で表される化合物をさらに含む、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質:
R3は、水素;又は炭素数1~5のアルキル基であり、
R4は、1つ以上のフッ素で置換された炭素数1~10のアルキル基である。 - 前記R3は、水素又はメチル基であり、
前記R4は、-(CH2)p(CF2)qCHF2であり、

前記qは、2~6の整数である、請求項6に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。 - 前記化学式2で表される化合物の含有量は、前記非水電解質の総重量に対して0.1重量%~10重量%である、請求項6または7に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。
- 前記ニトリル系溶媒は、スクシノニトリルである、請求項1から8のいずれか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。
- 前記有機溶媒は、カーボネート系溶媒をさらに含むものである、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。
- 前記ニトリル系溶媒及びカーボネート系溶媒の体積比は、90:10~97:3である、請求項10に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。
- 前記有機溶媒及びリチウム塩からなる有機溶液中のリチウム塩の濃度は、1.0M~6Mである、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質。
- 正極活物質を含む正極;
負極活物質を含む負極;
前記正極と負極との間に介在する分離膜;及び
請求項1から12のいずれか一項に記載のリチウム二次電池用非水電解質を含む、リチウム二次電池。 - 前記負極活物質は、リチウム金属を含まないものである、請求項13に記載のリチウム二次電池。
- 前記負極活物質は、炭素系物質;ケイ素系物質;Sn、Zn、Mg、Cd、Ce、Ni及びFeから選択される1つ以上の金属;前記金属で構成された合金;前記金属の酸化物;及び前記金属と炭素の複合体から選択される1種以上からなるものである、請求項13または14に記載のリチウム二次電池。
