Abstract
Description

Claims (21)
- 切り替え可能光変調器(201、202、203、204、205)であって、前記切り替え可能光変調器は、
第1の主面を有する第1の基板(101、102、103)と、
第2の主面を有する第2の基板(141、142、143、144)と、
上部および底部を有するポリマー壁構造(21、22、23)であって、前記ポリマー壁構造は、前記第1の主面と前記第2の主面との間に配置され、それによって、複数の空洞(111、112、113、114)を作成し、前記複数の空洞は、前記空洞(111、112、113、114)内の別々の容積に変調流体(71、72、73、74)または変調ゲルを含み、前記ポリマー壁構造(21、22、23)は、前記ポリマー壁構造(21、22、23)の前記上部に沿った陥凹を画定する成型部分(31、32、33)を含む、ポリマー壁構造と、
鋳造部分(81、82、83、84)と
を含み、
前記鋳造部分は、前記陥凹の表面に前記第2の基板を接合するために、前記陥凹の中に流体前駆体を配置し、前記陥凹を充填し、続いて、前記流体前駆体を硬化させることによって形成される、切り替え可能光変調器。 - 前記ポリマー壁構造の前記底部は、前記第1の基板に接合されている、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記流体前駆体は、前記変調流体または前記変調ゲルに接触しない、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記流体前駆体は、前記陥凹を画定する側壁(21a、22a、23a)を越えて、前記空洞の中に延びている、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記成型部分は、光学的に透明であり、前記鋳造物部分は、光を覆い隠し、着色剤、充填材料、または光散乱材料を含む、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記成型物は、着色剤を含み、前記着色剤は、前記変調流体または変調ゲル内に配置された粒子の色に合致する、請求項5に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記流体前駆体は、20℃未満のガラス遷移温度(Tg)を有するエラストマポリマーを備えている、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記エラストマポリマーは、ポリウレタンである、請求項7に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記陥凹は、前記第1の主面と前記第2の主面との間の直交距離(121、122)の5%以上の最大深度(1031、1032)を有する、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記空洞は、0.3mm~3cmの最長寸法であり、隣接する空洞の中心間距離は、0.6mm~10cmである、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記成型部分は、前記陥凹の深度(1031、1032)および幅(1041、1042)における変動を含むそれらの陥凹のそれぞれの形状における差異を有する、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記ポリマー壁構造は、ブレース特徴(23c)をさらに含む、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記第1の基板または前記第2の基板は、可撓性透過材料(90)を備えている、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記切り替え可能光変調器は、強く光を減衰させる第1の状態と、可視光に実質的に透明である第2の状態とを有する、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。
- 前記変調流体または前記変調ゲルは、電気泳動粒子、液晶、極性および非極性液体の組み合わせ、エレクトロクロミック流体、サーモクロミック流体、またはフォトクロミック流体を含む、請求項1に記載の切り替え可能光変調器。

- 切り替え可能光変調器(201、202、203、204、205)を作製する方法であって、前記方法は、
第1の主面を含む第1の基板(101、102、103)を提供することと、
第2の主面を含む第2の基板(141、142、143、144)を提供することと、
上部および底部を有するポリマー壁構造(21、22、23)を提供することであって、前記ポリマー壁構造(21、22、23)は、前記ポリマー壁構造(21、22、23)の前記上部に沿った陥凹を画定する成型部分(31、32、33)を含む、ことと、
流体前駆体を用いて前記陥凹を充填することと、
前記複数の空洞(111、112、113、114)内の別々の容積に変調流体(71、72、73、74)または変調ゲルを提供することと、
前記第1の主面と前記第2の主面との間に前記ポリマー壁構造(21、22、23)を配置することと、
前記流体前駆体を硬化させ、前記第2の基板と前記陥凹の表面とを一緒に接合することと
