実施形態に係る電極は、電極活物質を含有する活物質含有層と、集電体とを具備する。活物質含有層は、円弧形状を有する第1端部と第2端部とを含む。第2端部は、活物質含有層にて第1端部の反対側にある。集電体は、活物質担持部と活物質非担持部とを含む。活物質担持部は、活物質含有層を担持している。活物質非担持部は、活物質担持部および第2端部と隣接している。活物質非担持部には、活物質含有層が設けられていない。電極の湾曲量を、第1端部から第2端部へ向かう方向を正の値と定義し、且つ、第1端部上で直線距離1000mm離れた2つの点を結ぶ基準線までの第1端部からの最大距離で表した場合、該湾曲量は、-1mm以上0mm未満の範囲内にある。
係る電極は、例えば、次のとおり製造することができる。
電極の湾曲量は、下記のとおり測定することができる。
以下、実施例に基づいて上記実施形態をさらに詳細に説明する。但し、本発明は以下に掲載される実施例に限定されるものでない。
電極活物質として式LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2で表される組成を有するリチウムニッケルコバルトマンガン複合酸化物の粉末を準備した。
下記表1及び表2に示すとおりに、電極活物質の組成、集電体の片面毎の単位面積当たりの活物質含有層の質量、活物質含有層の密度、スラリー塗工幅および未塗工部の幅、並びに引伸ばし処理時の中間点での電極シートに対する張力を、それぞれ変更したことを除き、実施例P1と同様の手順で電極を作製した。なお、集電体の片面当たりの活物質含有層の質量は、集電体への片面当たりのスラリーの塗布量により調整した。表2には、各電極について測定された湾曲量を併せて示す。なお、比較例P1についての湾曲量“ほぼゼロ”は、湾曲量の絶対値が小さく正確な測定ができず、実質的には湾曲が確認できなかったことを意味する。
電極活物質として、TiNb2O7で表される組成を有するニオブチタン複合酸化物を準備した。導電剤としてアセチレンブラック(AB)と、結着剤としてカルボキシメチルセルロース(CMC)とスチレンブタジェンゴム(SBR)とを準備した。これらTiNb2O7と、ABと、CMCと、SBRとを、95重量部:2重量部:1.5重量部:1.5重量部の混合比で、溶媒としての純水に投入して混合した。次いで、得られた混合物を分散させ、スラリーを得た。
下記表3及び表4に示すとおりに、電極活物質の組成、集電体の片面毎の単位面積当たりの活物質含有層の質量、活物質含有層の密度、スラリー塗工幅および未塗工部の幅、並びに引伸ばし処理時の巻取り点での張力を、それぞれ変更したことを除き、実施例N1と同様の手順で電極を作製した。なお、集電体の片面当たりの活物質含有層の質量は、集電体への片面当たりのスラリーの塗布量により調整した。表4には、各電極について測定された湾曲量を併せて示す。なお、比較例N1についての湾曲量“ほぼゼロ”は、比較例P1と同様に、実質的には湾曲が確認できなかったことを意味する。
電極活物質として、Li4Ti5O12で表される組成を有する複合酸化物を準備した。導電剤としてアセチレンブラック(AB)と、結着剤としてポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVdF)を準備し、これらLi4Ti5O12と、ABと、PVdFとを、95重量部:3重量部:2重量部の混合比で、溶媒としてのNMPに投入して混合した点と、下記表3及び表4に示すとおりに、活物質含有層の密度、並びに引伸ばし処理時の中間点での張力を、それぞれ変更したことを除き、実施例N1と同様の手順で電極を作製した。なお、集電体の片面当たりの活物質含有層の質量は、集電体への片面当たりのスラリーの塗布量により調整した。
正極として、実施例P1で作製した電極を準備した。負極として、実施例N1で作製した電極を準備した。正極および負極の何れについても、電極製造後一定期間保管したものを準備した。厚さが15μmであるポリエチレン製多孔質フィルムからなるセパレータを準備した。次いで、正極および負極を、その間にセパレータを介して渦巻状に捲回した後、加熱プレスを施すことにより、扁平状電極群を作製した。同様の手順で、扁平状電極群を合計100個作製した。
用いる電極の組合せを、下記表5-表7に示す組合せに変更したことを除き、実施例G1と同様の手順で電極群を100個ずつ作製した。
実施例G1-実施例G26及び比較例G1-比較例G9のそれぞれについて100個ずつ製造した電極群のうち、正極、負極、及びセパレータを含んだ積層体の捲回時に捲きズレが生じた“不良”の電極群の数を記録した。その結果を上記表5-表7に示す。
Claims (4)
- 円弧形状を有する第1端部と前記第1端部の反対側にある第2端部とを含み且つ電極活物質を含有する活物質含有層と、
前記活物質含有層を担持している活物質担持部と、前記活物質担持部および前記第2端部と隣接し且つ前記活物質含有層が設けられていない活物質非担持部とを含む集電体と
を具備し、
前記第1端部から前記第2端部へ向かう方向を正の値とし、且つ前記第1端部上で直線距離1000mm離れた2つの点を結ぶ基準線までの前記第1端部からの最大距離で表す湾曲量は-1mm以上0mm未満の範囲内にある、電極。 - 前記集電体はアルミニウムを含む、請求項1に記載の電極。
- 前記第1端部と前記第2端部との間の前記活物質含有層の幅は60mm以上250mm以下であり、前記第2端部と交差する方向への前記活物質非担持部の幅は5mm以上25mm以下である、請求項1又は2に記載の電極。
- 前記活物質担持部上の前記活物質含有層の単位面積当たりの質量は前記集電体の片面毎にり100g/m2以上300g/m2以下である、請求項1乃至3の何れか1項に記載の電極。
