1.0mmの平均ビーズサイズの商業用NaA吸着剤生成物は、Zeochem LLCから入手した。生成物は、12重量%の粘土結合剤を含有する。
実施例2.540℃で焼成した2.5重量%のシリコーン由来種を含む4Aゼオライト吸着剤
Zeochem LLCから入手した乾燥重量基準500.0g(632.9gの湿潤重量)のゼオライト4A粉末(約2μmの結晶サイズ)を、Hobart混合機内に置いた。混合機を撹拌させながら、40.1gのIE−2404(Dow Corningからのシリコーン含有シリコーン樹脂エマルション)、42.9gのOptapix−35(水中35重量%のポリビニルアルコールを含む溶液)、及び45.0gの脱イオン水の混合物を、5.0ml/分の速度でポンプ注入した。添加が完了した後、混合を更に1/2時間継続した。その後、140gの追加の脱イオン水をゆっくりと添加して、Micromeritics Autopore IV Hgポロシメータを使用して焼成後に測定して30〜40%の範囲の多孔率を有するビーズを形成した。この混合時間の終わりに、目標の12×18米国メッシュ範囲のビーズを含むビーズが形成された。焼成前にシャロートレイ法を使用して、生成物ビーズを最高540℃の温度で一晩風乾させた。シャロートレイ焼成法には、乾燥空気パージを備えたGeneral Signal Company Blue−M電気オーブンを使用した。乾燥重量約100gの12×18米国メッシュ吸着剤をステンレス鋼メッシュトレイ内に広げ、薄層を設けた。焼成中、200SCFHの乾燥空気パージをオーブンに供給した。温度を90℃、続いて6時間の滞留時間に設定した。次いで、6時間の過程にわたり温度を徐々に200℃まで上昇させ、更に2時間かけて300℃まで上昇させ、最終的には3時間かけて540℃まで上昇させ、1時間そのまま保持し、その後450℃まで冷却し、その後吸着剤を取り出し、直ちに、密閉ボトルに詰め、乾燥窒素パージしたドライボックス内に置いた。焼成したビーズを再度ふるいにかけて、12×18米国メッシュ範囲の粒子を回収した。

Luoyang Jianlong Micro−nano New Materials Co.,Ltdから入手した乾燥重量基準500.0g(641.0gの湿潤重量)のゼオライト4A粉末(6μmの結晶サイズ)を、Hobart混合機内に置いた。混合機を撹拌させながら、82.2gのIE−2404(Dow Corningからのシリコーン含有シリコーン樹脂エマルション)、42.9gのOptapix−35(水中35重量%のポリビニルアルコールを含む溶液)、及び45.0gの脱イオン水の混合物を、5.0ml/分の速度でポンプ注入した。添加が完了した後、混合を更に1/2時間継続した。その後、140gの追加の脱イオン水をゆっくりと添加して、Micromeritics Autopore IV Hgポロシメータを使用して焼成後に測定して30〜40%の範囲の多孔率を有するビーズを形成した。この混合時間の終わりに、目標の12×18米国メッシュ範囲のビーズを含むビーズが形成された。焼成前にシャロートレイ法を使用して、生成物ビーズを最高595℃の温度で一晩風乾させた。シャロートレイ焼成法には、乾燥空気パージを備えたGeneral Signal Company Blue−M電気オーブンを使用した。乾燥重量約100gの12×18米国メッシュ吸着剤をステンレス鋼メッシュトレイ内に広げ、薄層を設けた。焼成中、200SCFHの乾燥空気パージをオーブンに供給した。温度を90℃、続いて6時間の滞留時間に設定した。次いで、6時間の過程にわたり温度を徐々に200℃まで上昇させ、更に2時間かけて300℃まで上昇させ、最終的には3時間かけて595℃まで上昇させ、1時間そのまま保持し、その後450℃まで冷却し、その後吸着剤を取り出し、直ちに、密閉ボトルに詰め、乾燥窒素パージしたドライボックス内に置いた。焼成したビーズを再度ふるいにかけて、12×18米国メッシュ範囲の粒子を回収した。
実施例8.CH4及びN2吸着速度試験
吸着速度特徴に対するコーティングの有効性を測定する方法には、吸着速度試験が必要である。単一のガス吸着を測定するための有用な機器は、重量測定タイプの天秤であり、これは材料上のガス吸着の量及び動態を測定することができる。本試験では、Hiden IGA天秤(モデル#HAS022650)を使用して、実施例1の4A材料及び実施例5の4A+5%シリコーン由来種に対する、N2及びCH4の吸着を測定した。IGA Systemsユーザ手引#HA−085−060に指示されるように、試料を充填し、ガス吸着を測定した。各試料を、400℃まで0.7C/分の温度勾配を用いて、真空下でその場で充填及び活性化させ、12時間保持した。次いで、それを1℃/分の速度で35℃まで冷却した。ガス(N2又はCH4)を導入し、圧力を4分間かけて8300mbarまで増加させ、その圧力で保持した。各材料は、まずN2について試験し、その後再活性化させ、その後CH4を使用して試験を繰り返した。4回の充填対時間曲線の結果を図5に提示する。有用なデータは、系が安定した後にのみ得られるので、各充填対時間曲線の最初の2分は不安定であることに留意するべきである。図5では、X軸は、材料(実施例1又は5)が8300mbar及び35℃でガス(N2又はCH4)に曝露される時間を表す。Y軸は、活性化された重量に対する材料の重量増加%を表す。
図5に見られるように、吸着速度に対する、シリコーン由来種で4Aをコーティングする効果は、特にCH4で非常に明らかである。5%のコーティングは、N2吸着に対して小さい初期効果を有するが、2つの試料のN2取り込みは、約12分後に等しくなる。対照的に、コーティングの効果は、CH4の吸着で有意に大きい。N2吸着は、12分後に両方の試料で等しいが、4A上のCH4吸着は、実施例5からのコーティングされた試料の約4倍である(2.8対0.7%)。この結果は、CH4が、コーティングされた4Aの非常に速い破過(より低い取り込み)を呈し、N2曲線での変化が非常に少ない、破過試験結果と一致する(実施例10、並びに図1及び図2を参照されたい)。
実施例9.CH4及びN2の破過(吸着速度)試験手順
カスタマイズ可能な有効孔径の最も大きい利点のうちの1つは、混合ガス流に曝露されると吸着速度特徴を調整する能力である。実施例1〜5からの生成物上のこれらの速度吸着特徴を測定するように、実験室規模での破過試験を設計した。実施例2、3、及び4は、焼成温度を変化させる影響を示している。実施例3及び5は、シリコーン由来種の量の影響を実証し、実施例1は市販の商業用比較試料である。混合N2及びメタンガスの流れを実施例1〜8の材料床に導入して、各ガスに対する各材料の異なる速度吸着特徴を測定した。各材料の試験条件を同じに維持し、以下の通り試験を進めた。
1.約100グラムの12×18の米国メッシュビーズを活性化させる
吸着床として機能し、各端部上に弁を有する60cc容積のカラムへの充填を最大化するように、「タップ」充填方法を使用して材料を充填する。
2.カラムを破過システムに接続し、ヒートテープで包む。
3.1%のHeを含むN2を100cc/分で床に流す。
4.床温度を100℃まで1時間加熱する。
5.床温度を35℃まで低下させ、流量を400cc/分まで増加させる。
6.システムを160psigにする。
7.供給を49.5%のN2、49.5%のCH4、1%のHeに切り替えながら床を単離する
8.床を流れに再導入して、CH4が>48%に達するまで流出液を分析する。得られたCH4%対時間のグラフは、メタンの破過(吸着速度)曲線を表す。
9.床を再度単離し、供給を99%のCH4、1%のHeに切り替える。
10.流れを床に再導入し、3時間パージして残留するN2を除去する。
11.供給を49.5%のN2、49.5%のCH4、1%のHeに切り替えながら床を単離する
12.床を流れに再導入して、N2が>48%に達するまで流出液を分析する。得られたN2%対時間のグラフは、N2の破過(吸着速度)曲線を表す。
実施例9に記載の破過試験は、混合ガス流に曝露されたときの、選択された材料の吸着速度特徴を測定するための有効なツールである。実施例1、3、及び5で生成された材料を個々に試験し、実施例9に記載の破過試験を使用して比較した。
図1に見られるように、メタンの破過時間は、コーティングのシリコーン由来種を0〜5%に増加させるにつれて、次第に速くなる。これは、より高いコーティング含有量を含有する材料の吸着速度がより遅いことを表し、これは有効孔径の低減に起因する。ガラスビーズを含有する床もまた、ガスを吸着しない材料を表すための参照として使用した。実際に、5%のシリコーン由来種コーティング含有量によって、CH4破過は、ガラスビーズに非常に近く、これは吸着が非常に少ないことを示している。
図2に見られるように、N2の破過時間また、シリコーン樹脂を使用してコーティングのシリカを0〜5%に増加させると、幾分速い。しかしながら、メタンの変化とは異なり、N2の破過時間の減少は、コーティング量の増加と共にはるかに少ない。
選択性は、分離効率を表すための一般的な手段である。選択性を測定するための1つの方法は、破過データを使用して、N2及びCH4で破過が始まる時間を比較することである。異なる実施例の吸着速度選択性の変化を定量化するための方法は、特定の時点で濃度%を比較することである。6分間の時点を選択して、任意の1つのガスの遅い吸着からのいかなる勾配の影響も排除した。表1のデータは、実施例1、3、及び5からの試料の6分の時点での吸着ガス濃度を、供給流におけるそのガスの濃度を下回る%として示している。例として、実施例1の試料では、6分時点で流出液流中のCH4濃度%は、15%で測定される。この値は、供給流中の濃度(50%)を70%下回り、床内に保持された70%濃度として記録される。
実施例2、3、及び4で生成された材料を各々個々に試験し、実施例9に記載の破過試験を使用して比較した。
図3から分かるように、異なる焼成温度の効果は、メタンの破過時間で有意である。この驚くべき結果は、IE−2404シリコーン前駆体では、540℃の焼成温度が4Aの有効孔径を十分に変化させないという事実に起因する可能性が最も高い。温度が595℃、特に650℃まで上昇すると、更なる反応が起こり、シリコーン由来種を含むコーティングから有効孔径の更なる低減をもたらす。実際に、650℃でのCH4破過は、非常に速い破過、非常に低い吸着を示す。所望の選択性を達成するために、最適な焼成温度は、選択されるシリコーン前駆体に応じてわずかに変動し得る。
図4に見られるように、540℃に対して650℃で焼成された試料から、N2破過時間は明らかに増加する。CH4破過曲線についての推論と同様に、増加は、より低い焼成温度では有効孔径の変化が少ないことに起因する。
焼成温度及びコーティング含有量の変動に加えて、ゼオライト材料の速度選択性を増加するための追加の方式が存在する。対処する2つの方式としては、ビーズ密度及び結晶サイズの増加が挙げられる。
実施例9に記載の破過試験を使用して、同じ4A粉末、コーティング含有量、及び焼成条件で作製したビーズについて比較を実施した。実施例間の唯一の違いは、実施例5が、形成されたビーズの骨格密度を増加させるのに役立つ燃焼性添加剤を含有していたことである。表3のデータは、これら2つの実施例のN2/CH4速度選択性を比較する。
また、より大きい結晶がより高い粒子密度を有する傾向があり、凝集プロセスにおいてより大きい結晶を充填することが、より大きい平均細孔直径を提供するのにより理想的な充填をもたらすことも発見された。約2μmの平均結晶サイズを有する4Aゼオライト粉末が、一般に入手可能である。好ましい実施形態では、速度選択性4A吸着剤は、コーティング剤及び結合剤としてシリコーンを用いて、これらの新規のコーティングされた/速度選択性吸着剤を凝集形態で調製するために、5〜10μmの結晶を使用して調製される。典型的な調製では、好ましい5〜10μmの結晶をシリコーン及び任意の他の形成用の特定の処理添加剤と組み合わせて混合物を生成する。好ましい高剪断混合装置を用いて、混合物を可能な限り均質に一緒にブレンドする。その後、ブレンドされた混合物を凝集体へと成形し、550℃〜700℃の温度のオーブンで焼成して、シリコーンをシリコーン由来のコーティング及び結合剤種に変換し、これらのシリコーン由来種の量は、McBain試験法によって決定され、シリコーン由来種を含まない4A粉末参照に対して、2〜15重量%である。実施例7では、6μmの4A結晶サイズの粉末を使用して吸着剤を作製した。この吸着剤は、より大きい4A粉末結晶サイズを使用したことを除いて、実施例5と同様であった。
図7及び図8のSEM写真は、小さい結晶の結晶サイズが約2μmであり、より大きい結晶では6μmであることを示す。結晶サイズは、個々の結晶サイズを測定するために使用することができるImageJなどの商業用プログラムを使用して決定することができる。平均結晶サイズの真の描写を得るためには、十分な量(>70)をサイズ決定しなければならない。N2/CH4速度選択性について、大きい結晶及び小さい結晶を含有する実施例の比較は、McBain重量測定による天秤を使用して測定された。McBain天秤は、石英ガラスばねに取り付けられた試料パン又はバケツの線形変位を使用して、特定の試料によって吸着されたガスの量を測定する。石英ガラスばねは、制御された温度及び圧力条件下で試験ガスを導入することができる、制御された大気空間を提供する垂直ガラス管内に収容される。本明細書に記載の実験では、McBain測定の各々に約1グラムの試料を使用した。
単一の試料測定の一般的な手順は、以下の通りである。
1.McBain装置を室温にし、カテーテル測定器又は同様の好適なデバイスを使用して、「空バケツ読み取り値(Empty Bucket Reading)」(E)を取る。
2.約1グラムの試料を試料バケツに充填し、試料バケツ及び石英ガラスばねを囲むガラス管を定位置に固定し、「活性化前読み取り値(Before Activation Reading)」を取る。
3.試料バケツ及び石英ガラスばねを取り囲むガラス管内の試料空間を排気する。
4.真空レベルが安定した後、各チューブを摂氏0.8度/分の速度で摂氏400度まで加熱し、この温度で少なくとも6時間試料を保持し、試料空間を排気し続けながら試料を完全に脱ガスする。
5.試料管を室温まで冷却し、カテーテル測定器を使用して「活性化読み取り値」(A)を取る。
6.窒素測定では、各チューブを700Torrの圧力で窒素に曝露させ、以下の時間間隔:15、30、及び60分でカテーテル測定器を使用して「吸着読み取り値」(F)を取る。
7.メタン測定では、各チューブを700Torrの圧力でメタンに曝露させ、以下の時間間隔:15、30、及び60分で「吸着読み取り値」(F)を取る。
8.所与の試料上の窒素及びメタン測定との間で、McBainシステム及び試料管を真空に戻し、試料が「活性化読み取り」値に戻るまで十分な時間待ち、その後試験ガス及び圧力を変化させる。
窒素及びメタン測定が行われた後、各試験ガスの吸着容量を、等式1を使用して計算することができる。

曝露時間15分後に得られた窒素データ点に等式1を適用することにより、本発明で使用される窒素容量パラメータを得る。曝露時間15分後に得られたメタンデータ点に等式1を適用することにより、本発明で使用されるメタン容量パラメータを得る。窒素対メタン選択性は、重量%単位の窒素容量を、同様に重量%単位のメタン容量によって除算することによって計算される。
Claims (19)
- マイクロ細孔無機固体を含む表面改質吸着剤であって、前記マイクロ細孔無機固体の表面が、シリコーン由来種で構成されるコーティングで改質され、前記種が、
式I
[(R)2SiO]n
及び/若しくは式II:
RSiO1.5
及び/若しくは式III:
R[(R)2SiO]nR
又はこれらの任意の組み合わせの1つ以上のシリコーン前駆体に由来し、各R置換基が、同じであるか、又は異なり、置換又は非置換の有機化合物から選択され、前記マイクロ細孔無機固体が、約5〜約10μmの平均結晶サイズ、及び≧1.00グラム/ccの骨格密度を有する、表面改質吸着剤。 - 前記マイクロ細孔無機固体が、アルミノシリケート、アルミノホスフェート、チタノシリケート、ジンコシリケート、又はこれらのうちの1つ以上の組み合わせから選択される、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記アルミノシリケートが、A型ゼオライトである、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記A型ゼオライトが、Li、Na、K、Mg、Ca、Sr、Ba、Ag、Cu、H+、又はZnから選択される1つ以上のカチオンと交換される、請求項3に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記A型ゼオライトが、少なくとも1.10グラム/ccの測定された骨格密度を有する、請求項3に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記シリコーン前駆体の各Rが、同じであるか、又は異なり、H、線状、分岐状、又は環状、置換又は非置換のC1〜C8アルキル、アルケニル、アルキニル、アルコキシ、及びアリールから選択される、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記シリコーン前駆体の各Rが、同じであるか、又は異なり、線状、分岐状、及び環状化合物、C1〜C4の有機化合物から選択される、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記シリコーン前駆体が、ポリマー又はオリゴマーであり、各Rが、独立して、ヒドロキシ、メトキシ、エトキシ、又はこれらの組み合わせによって終端する、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記シリコーン前駆体が、ヒドロキシ、メトキシ、又はエトキシ末端ポリマージ−メチルシロキサン、メチル−シルセスキオキサン、オクチル−シルセスキオキサン、メチルオクチル−シルセスキオキサン、又はこれらの組み合わせ若しくは混合物から選択される、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記シリコーン前駆体が、ポリジメチルシロキサン、ポリジフェニルシロキサン、オクチルシルセスキオキサンメチルシルセスキオキサン、(2,4,4−トリメチルペンチル)トリエトキシシラン、及びこれらの混合物から選択される、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。
- 前記シリコーン前駆体が、以下のChemical Abstracts Service(CAS)登録番号:CAS登録番号63148−62−9、CAS登録番号63148−59−4、897393−56−5のCAS登録番号;68554−66−5のCAS登録番号;CAS登録番号35435−21−3、及びこれらの組み合わせのうちの1つ以上によって識別される、請求項1に記載の吸着剤。

- 少なくとも2つの流体を分離するための吸着剤組成物であって、0.8Å以下のサイズ差が、分離される前記流体の分子間に存在し、前記吸着剤組成物が、シリコーン由来種のコーティングによって低減された有効細孔開口部を有するマイクロ細孔結晶質無機基材を含む凝集生成物であり、前記凝集生成物が、0.5〜5mmの粒径及び少なくとも0.7lbFの破砕強度を有し、前記マイクロ細孔結晶質無機基材が、約5〜約10μmの平均結晶サイズ及び≧1.00グラム/ccの骨格密度を有する、吸着剤組成物。
- 少なくとも第2の成分を含むガス状混合物から第1の成分を吸着又は分離するための吸着プロセスであって、前記第1の成分が、前記第2の成分よりも大きい動的直径を有し、前記2つの成分間の動的直径の差が、約0.1〜約0.8Åであり、前記プロセスが、前記混合物を、前記第2の成分を選択的に吸着する吸着材料と接触させて、前記第1の成分が生成物として回収されることを可能にすることを含み、前記プロセスが、前記ガス状混合物を、請求項1に記載の表面改質吸着剤組成物と接触させることを含み、前記表面改質吸着剤が、A型ゼオライトであり、前記吸着剤の前記有効細孔開口部サイズが、約0.1〜最大約1.2Å低減されることにより、前記吸着剤が、前記第2の成分を選択的に吸着し、前記第1の成分を吸着しない、プロセス。
- 前記第1の成分が、CH4であり、前記第2の成分が、N2である、請求項15に記載のプロセス。
- 前記第1の成分が、COであり、前記第2の成分が、CO2である、請求項15に記載のプロセス。
- 前記第1の成分が、N2であり、前記第2の成分が、CO2である、請求項15に記載のプロセス。
