Abstract
Description
図2Cに示すように、金属装飾層26は、例えばステンレス鋼などの安定したコア22上に銅クラッディング28(圧延)を含む。パティナ化された表面は、本明細書に記載の保護層29、例えば転写可能な保護ハードコートなどを有する。図2Cに示された実施形態には追加の層は示されていないが、様々な他の実施形態は追加の層を有していてもよいことが理解されるべきである。例えば、1つの例示的な実施形態では、0.002インチ(0.0508mm)の銅層を0.018インチ(0.4572mm)のステンレス鋼コア上に圧延することができ、プラスチック層24(例えば図2Aに示すようなもの)(約0.01インチ(約0.254mm))をコアの非銅クラッド表面に適用することができる。他の実施形態では、異なる材料を含むことができる装飾層を、例えばコアの両側の銅クラッディングなど、カードの前面と裏面の両方に設けることができる。次に、本明細書でさらに説明するように、複数の装飾層を同じように処理しても(例えば両方ともパティナ化される)又は異なって処理してもよい(例えば、1つは著しくパティナ化され、もう1つはパティナ化されていないかあまりパティナ化されていなくてもよい)。

図2Aに示すように、薄い銅箔(平均で0.003インチ〜0.005インチ(0.0762mm〜0.127mm))が、接着剤(接着剤層は図示せず)を用いてステンレス鋼コア22(約0.015インチ(約0.381mm))に積層され、プラスチックバック24がCu/SSに積層される。この3パート積層は、3つのコンポーネントを組み合わせる単一プロセスで行うことができ、あるいは、段階的に一度に2つのコンポーネントを組み組み合わせて行うことができる。プラスチック層24は、実際には、積層中に永久的に結合するように融着するいくつかのプラスチック層を含むことができる。本明細書に記載されるように、銅表面は、さらに、その上に配置された保護ハードコート29を有する。
例示的なパティナ化プロセスは、表面処理、塩暴露、及び保護コーティングの積層を含むことができる。表面処理のために、銅材料は、粉砕ガラス又は他の適切な媒体、例えば酸化アルミニウムなどにより湿式ブラスト処理される。次に、シートを、チオ尿素及びスルファミン酸を含む溶液で拭く。次に、シートをメチルエチルケトン及びイソプロパノールアルコールで順次拭き、そして空気で乾燥させる。次に、シートを炭酸水素ナトリウム溶液(0.5オンス/クォート−m/v)(14.978g/リットル)に30分間浸漬する。次に、シートをRO水ですすぎ、空気で乾燥させる。保護ハードコートをプラテンラミネーションによりシートの外側フェーシング面に転写させ、それによってハードコートが適用された時点で得られたパティナ化度でパティナ化プロセスを本質的にフリーズする。このシートは、プロビジョニングの準備ができたカードにさらに加工する準備ができたものである。

- 前記カードの前側が、パティナ化されやすい材料を含む第1の可視表面を有し、前記カードの裏側が、パティナ化されやすい材料を含む第2の可視表面を有し、前記第1又は第2の可視表面の1つだけがパティナ化されている、請求項1〜12のいずれか一項に記載のプロビジョニングされていないカード。
- さらに、前記少なくとも1つのパティナ化された又はパティナを生じうる状態にある表面の上方に配置された保護層を備える、請求項1〜19のいずれかに記載のプロビジョニングされていないカード。
- さらに、前記第1の表面の上方に配置された第1のパティナ遅延又は防止層と、前記第2の表面の上方に配置された第2のパティナ遅延又は防止層とを含む、請求項1〜12のいずれか一項に記載のプロビジョニングされていないカード。
- 前記第1のパティナ遅延又は防止層が、前記第2のパティナ遅延層とは異なるパティナ遅延又は防止速度を提供する、請求項21に記載のプロビジョニングされていないカード。
- さらに、前記パティナ化された又はパティナを生じうる状態にある表面の上又は上方に配置された、装飾用、情報用、又はそれらの組み合わせである証印を含む、請求項1〜22のいずれか一項に記載のプロビジョニングされていないカード。
- 前側及び裏側を有するトランザクションカードの製造方法であって、
前記カードの少なくとも一方の側から見える少なくとも第1の表面のパティナ化を促進するためにその第1の表面を処理するステップ、
プロビジョニング及び発行用のカードをカード所有者に提供するステップ、
の順次的ステップを含む、トランザクションカードの製造方法。 - さらに、前記カード所有者への発行のために前記カードを提供する前に、前記第1の表面上にパティナを生じさせるステップを含む、請求項24に記載の方法。
- さらに、少なくとも前記第1の表面上にパティナ遅延又はパティナ防止コーティング又は層を提供することを含む、請求項25に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の表面が金属基材上に存在し、前記表面を処理するステップが、まず還元剤の存在下での酸活性化によって金属を化学的にパティナ化し、次いで、パティナ化された金属表面をアルカリ性溶液にさらすことを含む、請求項24〜26のいずれか一項に記載の方法。
- 前記アルカリ性溶液が炭酸水素塩溶液を含む、請求項27に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の表面が金属基材上に存在し、前記表面を処理するステップが火炎処理を含む、請求項25又は26に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の表面が金属基材上に存在し、前記表面を処理するステップが電解処理を含む、請求項25又は26に記載の方法。
- 前記第1の表面が金属基材上に存在し、パティナ化を促進するため前記処理するステップが、前記金属面の表面を、当該表面から酸化物を機械的に除去することによって活性化することを含む、請求項24に記載の方法。
- 前記酸化物を機械的に除去するステップが湿式又は乾式ブラスト処理を含む、請求項31に記載の方法。
- 請求項24〜32のいずれか一項に記載の方法によって製造されたカード。
