Abstract
Description
複数個の前記ハニカムセグメントの側面同士を互いに接合する接合層と、
前記接合層によって格子状に配列した状態で接合された複数個の前記ハニカムセグメントを囲繞するように配設された外周壁と、を備え、
前記ハニカムセグメントは、流入端面から流出端面まで軸方向に延びる複数のセルを取り囲むように配設された多孔質の隔壁、及び前記隔壁を取り囲むように配設されたセグメント外壁を有し、
それぞれの前記ハニカムセグメントにおける前記セルは、前記流入端面側又は前記流出端面側のいずれか一方の端部が、目封止部によって目封止されており、
前記接合層には、前記ハニカムセグメントを格子状に接合する交点部分の少なくとも1つに、前記流入端面側又は前記流出端面側から前記軸方向の内部側に向かって延びる有底中空の空隙部が形成されており、
前記ハニカムセグメントの前記軸方向の長さに対する、前記空隙部の前記軸方向の空隙深さの比率が5%以上である、ハニカム構造体。
本発明のハニカム構造体の一の実施形態は、図1〜図4に示すように、複数個のハニカムセグメント4と、接合層14と、外周壁13と、を備えた、ハニカム構造体100である。本実施形態のハニカム構造体100は、所謂、セグメント構造のハニカム構造体100である。本実施形態のハニカム構造体100は、排ガス中に含まれる粒子状物質を除去するための捕集フィルタとして好適に利用することができる。
実施形態のハニカム構造体の製造方法については、特に制限はなく、例えば、以下のような方法により製造することができる。まず、ハニカムセグメントを作製するための可塑性の坏土を調製する。ハニカムセグメントを作製するための坏土は、原料粉末として、前述のハニカムセグメントの好適な材料の中から選ばれた材料に、適宜、バインダ等の添加剤、及び水を添加することによって調製することができる。
セラミックス原料として、炭化珪素(SiC)粉末と金属珪素(Si)粉末とを80:20の質量割合で混合した混合原料を準備した。この混合原料に、バインダとしてヒドロキシプロピルメチルセルロース、造孔材として吸水性樹脂を添加するとともに、水を添加して成形原料を作製した。得られた成形原料を、ニーダー(kneader)を用いて混練し、坏土を得た。
ハニカム構造体に、下記の条件にて、熱変動及び物理振動を同時に負荷した。その後、ハニカム構造体の流入端面側及び流出端面の接合層に生じたクラックの長さを計測した。
熱変動条件:ハニカム構造体の流入端面側から、まず、150℃のガスを流し、10分間で、ガスの温度を700℃まで上昇させる。その後、10分間で、ガスの温度を150℃まで下降させる。この20分間のガスの通気を1サイクルとして、合計25時間、ハニカム構造体に150〜700℃のガスを通気させる。
物理振動条件:周波数が100Hz、加速度が30Gの振動を、25時間、ハニカム構造体に負荷する。
接合部の全長に対する、最大クラック長さの割合(%)が、50%以下の場合を「合格」とする。接合部の全長に対する、最大クラック長さの割合(%)が、50%を超える場合を「不合格」とする。
ハニカム構造体の構成を、表1に示すように変更し、且つ、接合層の交点部分に形成する空隙部の構成を、表1に示すように変更したこと以外は、実施例1と同様の方法で、ハニカム構造体を製造した。

実施例1〜12のハニカム構造体は、比較例1,2のハニカム構造体に比して、冷熱振動耐久試験においてクラックの進展が抑制されていることが確認できた。比較例2のハニカム構造体は、空隙部の空隙深さの比率が3%であり、クラックの進展を抑制する効果が殆ど得られなかった。
Claims (6)
- 複数個の角柱状のハニカムセグメントと、
複数個の前記ハニカムセグメントの側面同士を互いに接合する接合層と、
前記接合層によって格子状に配列した状態で接合された複数個の前記ハニカムセグメントを囲繞するように配設された外周壁と、を備え、
前記ハニカムセグメントは、流入端面から流出端面まで軸方向に延びる複数のセルを取り囲むように配設された多孔質の隔壁、及び前記隔壁を取り囲むように配設されたセグメント外壁を有し、
それぞれの前記ハニカムセグメントにおける前記セルは、前記流入端面側又は前記流出端面側のいずれか一方の端部が、目封止部によって目封止されており、
前記接合層には、前記ハニカムセグメントを格子状に接合する交点部分の少なくとも1つに、前記流入端面側又は前記流出端面側から前記軸方向の内部側に向かって延びる有底中空の空隙部が形成されており、
前記ハニカムセグメントの前記軸方向の長さに対する、前記空隙部の前記軸方向の空隙深さの比率が5%以上である、ハニカム構造体。 - 前記空隙部が形成された前記交点部分において、前記空隙部が形成されていない部分の前記軸方向の長さが1.5mm以上である、請求項1に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記空隙部は、前記交点部分のうち、前記ハニカム構造体の前記流入端面側又は前記流出端面側において、その径方向の最外周に位置する前記交点部分の少なくとも1つに形成されている、請求項1又は2に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記空隙部は、前記ハニカム構造体の前記流入端面又は前記流出端面の重心に最も近い位置に存在する前記交点部分から前記接合層に沿って直線状に延長した延長線分上の前記交点部分の全てに形成されている、請求項3に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記ハニカム構造体の前記流入端面側又は前記流出端面側における前記接合層の幅に対する、前記空隙部の開口径の比率が、10〜140%である、請求項1〜4のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
- 前記ハニカム構造体の前記流入端面側又は前記流出端面側における前記接合層の幅が0.5〜2.0mmである、請求項1〜5のいずれか一項に記載のハニカム構造体。
