この限りではない。加えて、アクリレート、ポリアクリレート(例えば、ポリメタクリル酸メチル)、環状オレフィン共重合体、ポリイミド石英、ポリエーテルイミド、非晶質ポリオレフィン、ポリカーボネート、ポリスチレン、ポリエチレンからなる群から選択された他の透明プラスチックがUV光透過材料として好適である。これらの材料は、UV光に対して容認できる透過性を与えるように修正する場合にも好適である。材料は、さらに、耐熱用に選択されてもよいが、材料は、全体として、UV透過をブロックする添加剤を含まない。材料は、機能目的で使用される場合、強度及び耐久性又は他の機械的特徴に合わせて適切に選択されてもよい。他の例示的なUV光透過材料には、ケイ酸塩(石英ガラス、水晶)、サファイア及びフッ化マグネシウムが含まれるが、この限りではない。多くのプラスチック材料の透過率は、その厚さに依存し得ることから、実施形態によっては、UV光の透過性を高めるために、より薄い材料の方が好まれる場合がある。より厚い材料が望まれる場合、UV光透過材料内に配置される、又は、埋め込まれる1若しくは複数のUV発光源は、UV発光源1の頂面近くに光透過材料がほとんどないように、又は、その薄層しかないように配置されてもよく、埋め込まれてもよい。
Claims (18)
- 紫外線を投射するためのデバイスであって、
紫外光を約10ナノメートルから400ナノメートルまでの範囲で放出する少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源と、
紫外光透過材料で形成されるレンズと、を備え、
前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源は、前記レンズ内に埋め込まれ、
前記レンズは、機能的形状に形成され、且つ、前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源から放出される前記紫外光をフィルタ処理しない
デバイス。 - 前記レンズは、紫外光を18フィートまでの距離に亘って伝播する
請求項1に記載のデバイス。 - 前記レンズは、便座の形状に形成される
請求項1に記載のデバイス。 - オブジェクトの存在を検出するためのセンサと、
前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源を、前記センサの起動に応じて停止状態にするためのコントローラと、を更に備える

オブジェクトを検出するための検出器を設ける段階と、
前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源により生成される紫外線の放射サイクルを、前記検出器の作動がないことに応じて起動する段階と、
前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源により生成される前記紫外線の放射サイクルを、前記検出器の作動に応じて停止状態にする段階と、を備える
方法。 - 第2の紫外線放射サイクルを、前記紫外線の放射サイクルの後、前記検出器の作動がないことに応じて起動する
請求項10に記載の方法。 - 前記検出器の作動に対する応答時間を示す識別子は、メモリに、前記検出器の作動に応じて格納され、
前記検出器の作動に対する前記応答を、前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源により生成される将来の紫外線放射サイクルに反復して適用する
請求項10に記載の方法。 - 前記識別子は、次のサイクルに自動的に影響するように、前記次のサイクルに適用される

前記デバイスに、プロセッサからの論理ベースアルゴリズムを実行する制御モジュールを提供する段階と、
前記制御モジュールを検出器へ動作可能に連結する段階と、
前記制御モジュールを一定の時間期間に亘って実行し、前記検出器の作動を判定する段階と、
前記論理ベースアルゴリズムが前記検出器の作動に関連づけられるデータを取得できるようにする段階と、
前記検出器の作動に基づいて、前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源から紫外光を伝播する段階と、を備える

前記制御モジュールを一定の時間期間に亘って実行し、前記検出器の作動を判定する段階と、
前記論理ベースアルゴリズムが、前記検出器の作動及び前記検出器が作動していないことに関連づけられるデータを取得できるようにする段階と、
前記検出器が作動していないことに関連づけられるデータのみに基づいて、前記少なくとも1つの紫外線発光源から紫外光を伝播する段階と、を備える
