Abstract
Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の発光装置の構成について、図1(A−1)乃至図1(A−3)を参照しながら説明する。
発光パネル120は、支持基板401と、支持基板401上に面状に広がる発光素子403と、を有する。そして、発光素子403は、支持基板401側に第1の電極421と、第1の電極421と重なる第2の電極425と、第1の電極421と第2の電極425の間にEL層423とを備える(図2参照)。
定電流DC電源140Aは、直流電流を供給するACDCコンバータと、直流電流が供給されるDCDCコンバータと、を有する。
駆動回路130は、所定の幅の制御パルス信号を供給する。
開閉回路110は、定電流と制御パルス信号が供給されている間、定電流パルスを発光パネル120に供給する。
本実施の形態の変形例に例示する発光装置について、図1(B−1)乃至図1(B−3)を参照しながら説明する。
本実施の形態の変形例で説明する定電流DC電源140Bは、第1の電圧を供給する電池と、第1の電圧が供給され第1の電圧より高い第2の電圧を供給する第1のDCDCコンバータと、第2の電圧が供給されるコンデンサと、コンデンサから電力が供給される第2のDCDCコンバータと、を有する。
カウンタ回路150は駆動回路130が制御パルス信号を供給した回数を積算する。これにより発光パネル120を発光させた回数を知ることができる。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の発光装置に用いることができる発光パネルの構成について、図2乃至図4を参照しながら説明する。
図2(A)は、本発明の一態様の発光パネルを示す平面図であり、図2(B)は、図2(A)を一点鎖線A−Bで切断した断面図である。
図3は、本発明の一態様の発光パネルを示す平面図であり、図4(A)(B)は、それぞれ図3を一点鎖線X−Yで切断した断面図である。
本発明の一態様の発光パネルに用いることができる材料の一例を記す。
発光素子からの光を取り出す側の基板には該光を透過する材料を用いる。例えば、ガラス、石英、セラミック、サファイア、有機樹脂などの材料を用いることができる。
支持基板と発光素子の間に、絶縁膜を形成してもよい。絶縁膜には、酸化シリコン膜、窒化シリコン膜、酸化窒化シリコン膜、窒化酸化シリコン膜などの無機絶縁膜を用いることができる。特に、発光素子への水分等の侵入を抑制するため、酸化シリコン膜、窒化シリコン膜、酸化アルミニウム膜等の透水性の低い絶縁膜を用いることが好ましい。同様の目的や材料で、発光素子を覆う絶縁膜を設けてもよい。
隔壁には、有機樹脂又は無機絶縁材料を用いることができる。有機樹脂としては、例えば、ポリイミド樹脂、ポリアミド樹脂、アクリル樹脂、シロキサン樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、又はフェノール樹脂等を用いることができる。無機絶縁材料としては、酸化シリコン、酸化窒化シリコン等を用いることができる。隔壁の作製が容易となるため、特に感光性の樹脂を用いることが好ましい。
補助配線は必ずしも設ける必要は無いが、電極の抵抗に起因する電圧降下を抑制できるため、設けることが好ましい。
発光パネルの封止方法は限定されず、例えば、固体封止であっても中空封止であってもよい。例えば、ガラスフリットなどのガラス材料や、二液混合型の樹脂などの常温で硬化する硬化樹脂、光硬化性の樹脂、熱硬化性の樹脂などの樹脂材料を用いることができる。発光パネルは、窒素やアルゴンなどの不活性な気体で充填されていてもよく、PVC(ポリビニルクロライド)樹脂、アクリル樹脂、ポリイミド樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、シリコーン樹脂、PVB(ポリビニルブチラル)樹脂、EVA(エチレンビニルアセテート)樹脂等の樹脂で充填されていてもよい。また、樹脂内に乾燥剤が含まれていてもよい。
光取り出し構造としては、半球レンズ、マイクロレンズアレイ、凹凸構造が施されたフィルム、光拡散フィルム等を用いることができる。例えば、基板上に上記レンズやフィルムを、該基板又は該レンズもしくはフィルムと同程度の屈折率を有する接着剤等を用いて接着することで、光取り出し構造を形成することができる。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の発光装置に用いることができる発光素子について図5を用いて説明する。
図5(A)に示す発光素子は、第1の電極201及び第2の電極205の間にEL層203を有する。本実施の形態では、第1の電極201が陽極として機能し、第2の電極205が陰極として機能する。
以下に、それぞれの層に用いることができる材料を例示する。なお、各層は、単層に限られず、二層以上積層してもよい。
陽極として機能する電極(第1の電極201)は、導電性を有する金属、合金、導電性化合物等を一種又は複数種用いて形成することができる。特に、仕事関数の大きい(4.0eV以上)材料を用いることが好ましい。例えば、インジウムスズ酸化物(ITO:Indium Tin Oxide)、珪素もしくは酸化珪素を含有したインジウムスズ酸化物、インジウム亜鉛酸化物、酸化タングステン及び酸化亜鉛を含有した酸化インジウム、グラフェン、金、白金、ニッケル、タングステン、クロム、モリブデン、鉄、コバルト、銅、パラジウム、又は金属材料の窒化物(例えば、窒化チタン)等が挙げられる。
陰極として機能する電極(第2の電極205)は、導電性を有する金属、合金、導電性化合物などを1種又は複数種用いて形成することができる。特に、仕事関数が小さい(3.8eV以下)材料を用いることが好ましい。例えば、元素周期表の第1族又は第2族に属する元素(例えば、リチウム、セシウム等のアルカリ金属、カルシウム、ストロンチウム等のアルカリ土類金属、マグネシウム等)、これら元素を含む合金(例えば、Mg−Ag、Al−Li)、ユーロピウム、イッテルビウム等の希土類金属、これら希土類金属を含む合金、アルミニウム、銀等を用いることができる。
正孔注入層301は、正孔注入性の高い物質を含む層である。
正孔輸送層302は、正孔輸送性の高い物質を含む層である。
発光層303は、蛍光を発光する蛍光性化合物や燐光を発光する燐光性化合物を用いることができる。
電子輸送層304は、電子輸送性の高い物質を含む層である。
電子注入層305は、電子注入性の高い物質を含む層である。
電荷発生領域は、正孔輸送性の高い有機化合物に電子受容体(アクセプター)が添加された構成であっても、電子輸送性の高い有機化合物に電子供与体(ドナー)が添加された構成であってもよい。また、これらの両方の構成が積層されていてもよい。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の発光装置を用いた電子機器について図6を用いて説明する。
携帯電話機7350は、筐体7351、表示部7352、レンズ7354、レンズ7356、発光装置7360等を有する。発光装置7360には、本発明の一態様の発光装置が適用されている。発光装置7360は発光部7353及び非発光部7355を有し、発光部7353は、レンズ7354を囲うように配置されている。発光部7353は、非発光時に鏡として用いる仕様であってもよい。

Claims (6)
- 定電流および制御パルス信号が供給され、定電流パルスを供給することができる開閉回路と、
前記定電流を供給することができる定電流電源と、
前記制御パルス信号を供給することができ、スタートスイッチを備える駆動回路と、
前記定電流パルスが供給される発光パネルと、を有し、
前記駆動回路は、半値幅が1ミリ秒以上1000ミリ秒以下の定電流を前記開閉回路が供給するように、前記制御パルス信号を前記スタートスイッチの開閉動作に伴い出力する、発光装置。 - 前記発光パネルが、支持基板と、前記支持基板上に面状に広がる発光素子と、を有し、
前記発光素子は、前記支持基板側に第1の電極と、前記第1の電極と重なる第2の電極と、前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極の間にEL層と、を備える、請求項1記載の発光装置。 - 前記発光パネルが、曲面と、可撓性を有する支持基板と、前記支持基板上に面状に広がる発光素子と、を有し、
前記発光素子は、前記支持基板側に第1の電極と、前記第1の電極と重なる第2の電極と、前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極の間にEL層と、を備える、請求項1記載の発光装置。 - 前記定電流電源が、直流電流を供給するACDCコンバータと、
前記直流電流が供給され、定電流を供給することができるDCDCコンバータと、を有する、請求項1または請求項2のいずれか一に記載の発光装置。 - 第1の電圧を供給する電池と、
前記第1の電圧が供給され、前記第1の電圧より高い第2の電圧を供給する第1のDCDCコンバータと、
前記第2の電圧が供給されるコンデンサと、
前記コンデンサから電力が供給され、定電流を供給することができる第2のDCDCコンバータと、を有する請求項1または請求項2のいずれか一に記載の発光装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項4のいずれか一に記載の発光装置を備えるカメラまたはデジタルスチルカメラ。
