Abstract
Description
・ 少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層が、第1の軸に沿って配置されており、光軸に対して約45°から135°傾斜している;

・ 光学素子は、眼内レンズ、または角膜内レンズであり、少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程は、例えば、眼科開業医によって、患者の目内にその光学素子を手術により配置した後に行われる;

・ 複数の隣接する屈折セグメントは、弓形または湾曲セグメントである;
・ GRIN層の複数のセグメントは、レンズ材料の屈折率に関して、(i)走査方向における屈折セグメントの部分、および(ii)屈折セグメントに直交する軸の一部に沿った、の少なくとも一方の屈折率の一定の正の変化によって特徴付けられる;
・ GRIN層の複数のセグメントは、レンズ材料の屈折率に関して、(i)走査方向における屈折セグメントの部分、および(ii)屈折セグメントに直交する軸の一部に沿った、の少なくとも一方の屈折率の一定の率の増加または減少する正の変化によって特徴付けられる;
・ 少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層は二次プロファイルを有する;
・ 少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層は、わずかしかまたは全く散乱損失を示さない、すなわち、形成されたGRIN層は、そのGRIN層がある形態の画像強調なくして人の目にとって実質的に透明であるように、位相差強調のない適切な拡大ではっきりとは目に見えない;
・ 少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程は、2から10のレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程を含む;
・ 少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程は、第1の軸に対して実質的に垂直な第2の軸に沿って少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層の上かまたは下のいずれかに配置された2から10のレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程を含む;
・ GRIN層は、2μmから10μmの独立した厚さを有し、GRIN層はほとんどまたは全く散乱損失を示さない;
・ 2から10のGRIN層は、5μmから10μmの厚さを有する非修正高分子レンズ材料の層間の間隔を有する。
・ 複数の隣接する屈折セグメントは線セグメントである;
・ 複数の隣接する屈折セグメントは、同心セグメントおよび弓形または湾曲セグメントからなる群より選択される;
・ 高分子レンズ材料は増感剤を含む;
・ 光増感剤は、750nmと1100nmの間で少なくとも10GMの2光子吸収断面を有する発色団を含む;
・ GRIN層の複数の隣接する屈折セグメントは、1から5μmの独立した線幅を有し、2つの隣接するセグメントのセグメント間の間隔が、2つの隣接するセグメントの平均線幅より小さい;
・ GRIN層の複数の屈折セグメントは、非修正高分子レンズ材料に対する屈折率の変化である、第1の軸および横の第2の軸の少なくとも一方に沿った屈折率の一定の正の変化によって特徴付けられる;
・ GRIN層の複数の屈折セグメントは、非修正高分子レンズ材料に対する屈折率の変化である、第1の軸および横の第2の軸の少なくとも一方に沿った屈折率の一定または可変の率の増加または減少する正の変化によって特徴付けられる;
・ 高分子レンズ材料はヒドロゲルである;
・ 素子は眼内レンズまたは角膜内レンズである。
により示されるように、局所瞬間温度は、パルス強度および2光子吸収(TPA)係数の大きさの両方に依存する。純粋に屈折特徴のものである、すなわち、非吸収または非散乱の材料の光学変調を生じるために、光学損傷、すなわち、高分子材料に観察される焼け(スコーチング)または炭化を避けることが重要である。そのような材料または光学損傷は、臨界自由電子密度を超える励起強度によって生じ得る。かなりの量の水を含有するヒドロゲルポリマーについて、その光学的破壊閾値は、シリカガラスにおける閾値よりもずっと低い。この破壊閾値により、ヒドロゲルポリマーが耐えられ、それでも焦点体積内の屈折率の観察された変化を提供するパルスエネルギーが(多くの場合、約0.1nJから20nJに)制限される。
光学高分子材料にレーザを照射して、その材料の屈折率を選択された領域において修正するためのレーザシステム10の非限定的な実施の形態が図7に図解されている。レーザ源は、4Wの周波数二倍Nd:YVO4レーザ14により励起されたカーレンズモード同期Ti:サファイアレーザ12(コロラド州、ボールダー所在のKapteyn-Murnane Labs)を含む。このレーザは、300mWの平均出力、30fsのパルス幅、および800nmの波長での93MHzの繰返し周波数のパルスを発生する。光路においてミラーとプリズムからの屈折力損失、特に、対物レンズ20からの屈折力損失があるので、材料上の対物レンズの焦点で測定される平均レーザ出力は約120mWであり、これは、フェムト秒レーザのパルスエネルギーが約1.3nJであることを示す。
本出願に記載された方法にしたがってレーザで照射され得る光学ヒドロゲル高分子材料は、高分子レンズの技術分野の当業者、特に眼内レンズを製造するために使用される光学高分子材料に精通している当業者に公知のいかなる光学ヒドロゲル高分子材料であっても差し支えない。そのような材料の非限定的な例としては、シロキシ含有ポリマー、アクリル親水性または疎水性ポリマー、もしくはそのコポリマーなどの眼用素子の製造に使用されるものが挙げられる。屈折構造の形成が、高分子光学シリコーンヒドロゲル、または高分子光学非シリコーンヒドロゲルの選択された別個の領域において屈折率を変更するために特に適している。
クマリン1染料(2.5g)を、10mLのエタノールおよび5mLの水を含有するエタノールと水の混合物中に溶解させる。「Akreos」サンプルの乾燥質量を記録する。これらのサンプルを純水中で水和させ、その質量を記録する。水和工程後、サンプルを、一定の質量に到達するまで、クマリン1染料を含有するエタノールと水の混合物中に浸漬する。染料溶液中の浸漬後の質量を記録する。添加した染料の質量は、溶液中の浸漬後の質量と、エタノールと水の混合物中の染料の質量濃度で乗じた乾燥質量との間の差として計算される。添加した染料の百分率は、乾燥質量に対する添加されたクマリン1染料の質量を100で乗じた比として計算される。
先に記載された光学システムを使用して、光学材料の選択された領域に線セグメントを形成した。実験は、光増感剤を含む場合と含まない場合で、「Akreos」IOL材料に行った。「Akreos」IOL材料は、約80質量%のHEMAおよび約20質量%のMMAを含み、上述したのと同様のプロセス条件を使用し、約26%の含水率である。
フルオレセイン(0.25g)染料を、50mLのエタノールおよび50mLの水を含有するエタノールと水の混合物中に溶解させる。「ピュアビジョン」サンプルの乾燥質量を記録する。これらのサンプルを純水中で水和させ、その質量を記録する。水和工程後、サンプルを、一定の質量に到達するまで、フルオレセイン染料を含有するエタノールと水の混合物中に浸漬する。染料溶液中の浸漬後の質量を記録する。添加した染料の質量は、溶液中の浸漬後の質量と、エタノールと水の混合物中の染料の質量濃度で乗じた乾燥質量との間の差として計算される。添加した染料の百分率は、乾燥質量に対する添加されたフルオレセイン染料の質量を100で乗じた比として計算される。
実施例2に記載された光学システムを使用して、水和したバラフィルコンA(「ピュアビジョン」)シリコーンヒドロゲル材料の選択された材料に線セグメントを形成した。光増感剤のフルオレセインを含む場合と含まない場合で、実験を行った。
690nmから1040nmの調整可能な波長範囲で100fsのパルス幅および80MHzの繰返し周波数のパルスを発生する、カーレンズモード同期Ti:サファイアレーザ(ニューポートのMaiTai HP)を備えたフェムト秒レーザ発振器を以下の実施例で使用した。実験において、対物レンズの焦点での平均レーザ出力を可変減衰器により減衰させ、調節し、そして、ヒドロゲルポリマーにおける総光学損傷を回避するために160mW(2nJのパルスエネルギー)未満に設定した。100nmの解像度の3つのNewport VP−25XAリニアサーボステージは、コンピュータにより制御されプログラムされた3Dの平坦な走査台を形成した。焦点対物レンズは60×0.70NAオリンパスLUCPlanFLN長作動距離対物レンズであった。この対物レンズは、球面収差を正確に補正することができ、材料表面の下の様々な深さでほぼ回折限定レーザ焦点スポットを形成することができた。
ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート(HEMA)、メチルメタクリレート(MMA)、エチレングリコールジメタクリレート(EGDMA)および様々な濃度のフルオレセイン−メタクリレート(Fluo−MA)を含む光学ヒドロゲル高分子材料を調製し、それらが表1に纏められている。HEMA(83.7質量%)、MMA(13.7質量%)、EGDMA(0.51質量%)およびAIBN(0.1質量%)開始剤を含有するマスターモノマーバッチを調製した。適量のFluo−MAを個別のモノマー調製物に添加して、表1に列挙されたFluo−MAを記載の質量%で含むモノマー混合物を提供した。これらのモノマー混合物を当該技術分野において周知の方法にしたがって重合し、700μm厚の平坦フィルムの形態で硬化させた。

任意のレンズ材料または材料の改質、例えば、光増感剤の含有、または先に記載されたレーザパラメータに関する除外なく、先に開示された技法および装置を用いて、以下に限られないが、IOLまたは角膜内レンズの形態にある、光学高分子材料、典型的に、光学ヒドロゲル材料の屈折特性、およびそれゆえ屈折度を、光学材料の一次元、二次元または三次元の屈折率分布を有する屈折構造を作製(機械加工)することによって、修正することができる。分布屈折構造は、走査速度および/または平均レーザ出力を変えながら(これにより、セグメントに沿ってポリマー内に屈折率分布が形成される)、光学材料中の少なくとも1つの連続セグメント(走査線)内にそれに沿って制御された焦点体積を有する連続した一条のフェムト秒レーザパルスを連続的に走査することによって形成できる。したがって、材料における屈折率が一定に変化した屈折構造の別個の、個々の、または群を成したまたは束になった、隣接セグメントを形成するのではなく、連続した一条のパルスを連続的に走査することによって、分布屈折率が屈折構造内に、それによって光学材料において形成される。以下により詳しく説明されるように、材料における屈折変更は多光子吸収プロセスにより生じるので、球面(および他の)収差について補正された十分に制御された焦点体積が、走査長に亘り、一貫した、所望であれば、一定の深さを有するセグメントを生成する。さらに述べるように、高繰返し周波数のフェムト秒パルスからなる強集束レーザビームが、レーザの入射波長で公称上透明である材料に入射したときに、焦点領域から離れた材料には、もしあるとしてもわずかしか影響がない。しかしながら、焦点領域において、その強度は、平方センチメートル当たり1テラワットを超えることができ、2以上の光子を同時に吸収する可能性が著しくなり得る。特に、2光子吸収の量は、適切な波長(例えば、750nmと1100nmの間)で大きい2光子吸収断面を示す選択された発色団を被照射材料に添加するか、他の様式で含ませることによって調節できる。このように発色団を有することにより、既に記載したように走査速度を著しく増加させることができる。また、様々なセグメントについて異なる走査速度および/または異なる平均レーザ出力レベルを使用して、層に亘り、すなわち、走査方向に対して垂直に屈折率分布を形成することによって、材料中に層状に多数のセグメントを書き込むことができる。さらに、患者の目の高次収差のいくつか、ほとんど、または全てを矯正する所望の屈折率変化を材料に与えるために、z方向(すなわち、概して、材料を通る光の伝搬方向)に沿って材料に多数の間隔の置かれた屈折率分布(GRIN)層を書き込むことができる。
xyz移動システムを使用して、屈折率分布(GRIN)層を書き込むことができる。薄(1〜10μm)層により、平面内で可変位相シフトを生じ、結果として光の位相面に曲率が生じる。図29は、高分子材料の平らな一片に書き込まれた1つの薄いGRIN層の三次元表示である。既に論じたように、屈折構造を書き込むことのできるモードがいくつかある。屈折率分布の変化は、走査速度および/または光出力の変動に依存するので、モードのいずれかまたは両方を一緒に使用して、屈折素子を書き込むことができる。ここでは、便宜上、これらを「速度モード」および「出力モード」と称する。

Claims (29)
- 光学素子の屈折度を変化させる方法において、
光学素子に、前面と後面およびそれらの面と交差する光軸を有する光学高分子レンズ材料を提供する工程、および
前記前面と前記後面との間に配置された少なくとも1つのレーザ修正屈折率分布(GRIN)層を、可視または近IRレーザからの光パルスを前記光学高分子レンズ材料の領域に沿って走査することによって、該光パルスで形成する工程、
を含み、
前記少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層は、非修正高分子レンズ材料の屈折率に対して屈折率が変化している複数の隣接する屈折セグメントを含み、前記GRIN層は、(i)走査方向に直交する前記隣接する屈折セグメントの部分、および(ii)走査方向に沿った前記屈折セグメントの部分:の少なくとも一方の屈折率の変動によって特徴付けられている方法。 - 前記前面と前記後面との間に配置された少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層が、前記光軸に対して約45°から135°の間に向けられた第1の軸に沿って配置されている、請求項1記載の方法。
- 前記高分子レンズ材料が光増感剤を含む、請求項1または2記載の方法。
- 前記光増感剤が、750nmから1100nmのレーザ波長範囲の間で少なくとも10GMの2光子吸収断面を有する発色団を含む、請求項3記載の方法。
- 前記光増感剤が、重合性モノマーの一部であるか、または前記光学高分子レンズ材料内に物理的に分散されている、請求項3または4記載の方法。
- 前記光パルスを光学高分子レンズ材料の領域に沿って走査する工程が、0.01nJから20nJのパルスエネルギーを有する連続した一条のレーザパルスを含む、請求項1から5いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記光学素子が眼内レンズまたは角膜内レンズである、請求項1から6いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが1から5μmの独立した線幅を有し、2つの隣接する屈折セグメントのセグメント間の間隔が、該2つの隣接する屈折セグメントの平均線幅より小さい、請求項1から7いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが実質的に平行なセグメントである、請求項1から8いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが、前記第1の軸に沿った中心点から外側に突出した同心セグメントである、請求項1から8いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが弓形または湾曲セグメントである、請求項1から8いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記GRIN層の複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが、(i)走査方向に直交した屈折セグメントの部分、および(ii)走査方向に沿った屈折セグメントの部分:の少なくとも一方の屈折率の一定の正の変化によって特徴付けられる、請求項1から11いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記GRIN層の複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが、(i)走査方向に直交した屈折セグメントの部分、および(ii)走査方向に沿った屈折セグメントの部分:の少なくとも一方の屈折率の一定の率の増加または減少する正の変化によって特徴付けられる、請求項1から11いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層が二次プロファイルを有する、請求項1から13いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層がほとんどまたは全く散乱損失を示さない、請求項1から14いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程が、2から10のレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程を含む、請求項1から15いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程が、前記第1の軸に対して実質的に平行な第2の軸に沿って該少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層の上かまたは下のいずれかに配置された2から10のレーザ修正GRIN層を形成する工程を含む、請求項1から15いずれか1項記載の方法。
- 各GRIN層は、2μmから10μmの独立した厚さを有し、前記複数のGRIN層はほとんどまたは全く散乱損失を示さない、請求項17記載の方法。
- 前記2から10のGRIN層は、5μmから10μmの厚さを有する非修正高分子レンズ材料の層間の間隔を有する、請求項17または18記載の方法。
- 光学素子において、
前面と後面およびそれらの面と交差する光軸を有する光学高分子レンズ材料、および
前記前面と前記後面との間に配置され、前記光軸に対して45°から135°の第1の軸に沿って配置された少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層であって、非修正高分子材料の屈折率に対して屈折率が変化した複数の隣接する屈折セグメントを含み、(i)前記隣接する屈折セグメントの横(transverse)断面、および(ii)前記屈折セグメントの側(lateral)断面:の少なくとも一方の方向に沿った屈折率の変動により特徴付けられる、少なくとも1つのレーザ修正GRIN層、
を備えた光学素子。 - 前記複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが線セグメントである、請求項20記載の光学素子。
- 前記複数の隣接する屈折セグメントは弓形または湾曲セグメントである、請求項20記載の光学素子。
- 前記高分子レンズ材料が増感剤を含む、請求項20から22いずれか1項記載の光学素子。
- 前記光増感剤が、750nmと1100nmの間で少なくとも10GMの2光子吸収断面を有する少なくとも1つの2光子吸収発色団を含む、請求項23記載の光学素子。
- 各GRIN層の複数の隣接する屈折セグメントが、1から5μmの独立した線幅を有することができ、2つの隣接する屈折セグメントのセグメント間の間隔が、該2つの隣接する屈折セグメントの平均線幅より小さい、請求項20から24いずれか1項記載の光学素子。
- 前記屈折率の変化が、屈折セグメントの横断面、および屈折セグメントの側断面の少なくとも一方に沿った、屈折率の一定の正の変化である、請求項20から25いずれか1項記載の光学素子。
- 前記屈折率の変化が、屈折セグメントの横断面、および屈折セグメントの側断面の少なくとも一方に沿った、屈折率の一定の率の増加または減少する正の変化である、請求項20から25いずれか1項記載の光学素子。
