本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の発光装置の構成について図1を用いて説明する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1で説明した画素の構成を有するアクティブマトリクス型発光装置の具体的な構成について説明する。
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様の発光装置に用いることができる発光素子の構成について説明する。具体的には、一対の電極にEL層が挟持された発光素子の一例について、図6を参照しながら説明する。

Claims (8)
- 第1の基板と、
前記第1の基板上に形成された第1の絶縁膜と、
前記第1の絶縁膜上に形成された第1の隔壁と、
前記第1の絶縁膜および前記第1の隔壁を覆い、凹曲面の表面を有する第2の絶縁膜と、
前記第2の絶縁膜上に形成され、前記第1の隔壁と重なる位置に端部を有する第1の電極と、
前記第1の隔壁上に形成され、前記第1の電極の端部を覆う第2の隔壁と、
前記第1の電極および前記第2の隔壁上に形成された発光性の有機化合物を含む層と、
前記発光性の有機化合物を含む層上に形成された第2の電極と、
前記第2の電極上に位置し、前記第1の基板と重なる第2の基板と、
を有することを特徴とする発光装置。 - 第1の基板と、
前記第1の基板上に形成された第1の絶縁膜と、
前記第1の絶縁膜上に形成された第1の隔壁と、
前記第1の絶縁膜および前記第1の隔壁上に形成され、当該第1の隔壁上に端部を有する第1の電極と、
前記第1の隔壁上に形成され、前記第1の電極の端部を覆う第2の隔壁と、
前記第1の電極および前記第2の隔壁上に形成された発光性の有機化合物を含む層と、
前記発光性の有機化合物を含む層上に形成された第2の電極と、
前記第2の電極上に位置し、前記第1の基板と重なる第2の基板と、
を有することを特徴とする発光装置。 - 請求項1または2において、前記第1の隔壁の表面は曲面を含んで形成されていることを特徴とする発光装置。
- 請求項1乃至3のいずれか一項において、前記第2の電極と前記第2の基板との間に透光性を有する液体材料または固体材料が含まれていることを特徴とする発光装置。
- 請求項4において、前記液体材料または前記固体材料の屈折率は、前記第2の電極よりも大きいことを特徴とする発光装置。
- 請求項1乃至5のいずれか一項において、前記第2の隔壁の上部にスペーサーが形成されていることを特徴とする発光装置。
- 請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項において、前記第1の電極は反射電極であり、前記第2の電極は透光性を有する電極であり、前記発光性の有機化合物を含む層が発する光は、前記第2の電極を通して外部に放出されることを特徴とする発光装置。
- 請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項において、前記第2の隔壁の屈折率は、前記発光性の有機化合物を含む層の屈折率よりも小さいことを特徴とする発光装置。
