Abstract
Description
本願は、2009年7月3日提出の「User Interface System」と題する米国仮出願第61/223,004号の利益を主張し、これを参照してその全体を援用する。
第1の好適な実施形態の変位デバイス130は電気で動かされ、(1)流体容器127の既存の流体の容量を変更することによって、または(2)流体容器127に流体を移動し、そこから流体を移動することによって、流体112の容量を変更する事が好ましい。しかしながら、変位デバイス130は、任意の適切な電動のデバイスあるいは方法によって流体112の容量に影響を及ぼしてもよい。流体容器127(あるいはキャビティ125および/またはチャネル138)の既存の流体の容量を変更することはおそらく構成を複雑にしないという利点を有している一方、流体容器127(あるいはキャビティ125および/またはチャネル138)に流体を移動し、そこから流体を移動することは(バルブあるいは他のロック可能な機構を用いる場合)おそらく追加エネルギを必要とすることなく表面115の変形を維持するという利点を有している。以下の実施例は、キャビティ125とチャネル138を含む流体容器127を膨脹させることを記載しているが、流体容器127はキャビティ125とチャネル138の任意の他の適切な組み合わせにすることができる。
第2の好適な実施形態の変位デバイス130は手動で動くことが好ましく、これがユーザインターフェイス拡張システム100を相対的に単純な仕組みにすることができる。第2の好適な実施形態の変位デバイス130の起動がさらに変位デバイス130を動かすことが好ましい。あるいは、変位デバイス130の起動を変位デバイス130の動力から切り離してもよい。例えば、ユーザが与えた動力を放出することによって変位デバイス130を起動するまで、ユーザが与えた動力を変位デバイス130に蓄えることができる。さらに具体的な実施例では、変位デバイス130がアキュムレータ(図示せず)を具えることができ、ユーザにより与えられた動力を用いてアキュムレータの中の流体を加圧することができる。ユーザは次いで、アキュムレータのバルブを開くことによって変位デバイス130を起動し、流体にキャビティ125を膨脹させる。ユーザは、アキュムレータに直接動力を与えることができる。例えば、アキュムレータは所定量の流体を入れるリザーバとして機能することができ、ユーザがアキュムレータの中の圧力を増加する力を与える。あるいは、ユーザがリザーバから加圧したアキュムレータに流体を押し込む力を与えてもよい。しかしながら、任意の他の適切な構成のアキュムレータを用いてもよい。しかしながら、任意の他の適切な構成の動力と変位デバイス130の起動とを用いてもよい。以下の実施例はさらに、デバイス130を動かす変位デバイス130の起動を説明するが、当業者は変位デバイス130の以下の実施例の起動を変位デバイス130の動力から切り離すことができることを理解するでろう。
双方の好適な実施形態の変位デバイス130は、デバイスによって起動することができるが、代わりにユーザが起動してもよい。変位デバイス130がデバイス10によって起動される変形例では、ユーザインターフェイス拡張システム100がデバイス10と通信するよう機能し、デバイス10がキャビティ125の膨張を起動するよう機能する。この好適な実施形態では、触覚誘導をユーザに提供すべきことをデバイス10が決定したときはいつでも、デバイス10がキャビティ125の膨張を起動する。デバイス10は代わりに、触覚誘導が望まれるデバイス10にユーザが入力したときにキャビティ125の膨張を起動することができる。デバイス10はさらに、キャビティ125が膨張すべき時間の長さを決定することが好ましく、ユーザに与えた触覚誘導に影響しうるキャビティ125の膨張率、キャビティ125の膨張のレベル、および/またはキャビティ125の膨張の任意の他の特性は、デバイス10によって制御することができる。ユーザインターフェイス拡張システム100が第2のキャビティ125bを具える変形例では、デバイス10がさらに、キャビティ125と第2のキャビティ125bの一方あるいは双方の膨張を選択的に起動するよう機能することができる。膨張すべきキャビティあるいは複数のキャビティの選択は、対応する特定領域113の位置でユーザに触覚誘導を提供すべきかどうかに依存するであろう。しかしながら、キャビティ125および/または第2のキャビティ125bの膨張の起動を決定するのに適切な任意の他の要因を用いてもよい。
Claims (18)
- タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムであって、
・所定量の流体(112)と、
・ユーザが触れることができる表面(115)を規定し、第1の領域と特定領域(113)とを具える層部分(110)であって、前記特定領域(113)は、弾性材料からなり、
・前記特定領域(113)が前記第1の領域と共に実質的に平らな収縮容量設定と、
・前記特定領域(113)が前記第1の領域より高くなる膨張容量設定と、
の間で動作可能であり、
・前記第1の領域と前記特定領域(113)との間の境界を規定する付着点(117)で前記第1の領域に取り付けられた基板部分(120)であって、前記基板部分(120)が前記基板部分を介して前記特定領域(113)に前記流体(112)を連通する流体チャネル(138)を規定し、前記基板部分(120)が前記特定領域(113)に隣接し、前記特定領域(113)から接続を絶った支持部分を規定し、ユーザが前記特定領域(113)に力を加えるときに前記特定領域(113)が前記チャネル(138)の中に押し下げられるのを防止する、基板部分(120)と、
・前記流体チャネル(138)を介して前記特定領域(113)の方へ前記流体(112)の一部を操作し、前記特定領域(113)を前記収縮容量設定から前記膨張容量設定に遷移させるよう構成された変位デバイス(130)であって、前記特定領域(113)が前記膨張容量設定で前記第1の領域の平面より上になる、変位デバイス(130)と、
・前記基板部分(120)を前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)に非永久的に連結し、前記基板部分(120)が前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)と前記層部分(110)との間に配置されるよう構成された取付部品(220)とを具えることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。 - 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記層部分(110)が収縮容量設定と膨張容量設定とで動作可能な第2の特定領域(113)を規定し、前記特定領域(113)と前記流体チャネル(138)がキャビティ(125)を規定し、前記第2の特定領域(113)と前記流体チャネル(138)とが前記キャビティ(125)と実質的に同じ第2のキャビティ(125B)を規定することを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項2に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムがさらに、前記第2の特定領域(113)の方へ前記流体(112)の一部を移動し、前記特定領域(113)と独立して前記第2の特定領域(113)を前記収縮容量設定から前記膨張容量設定へ遷移させる第2の変位デバイス(130)を具えることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記収縮容量設定では、前記表面(115)が前記第1の領域と前記特定領域(113)とにわたって実質的に連続し、平らであることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項4に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記表面(115)が第1の面の第1の部分と、前記第1の面に実質的に垂直な第2の面の第2の部分とを規定することを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記変位デバイス(130)が、前記流体(112)の一部を前記特定領域(113)から離すよう操作し、前記特定領域(113)を前記膨張容量設定から前記収縮容量設定へ遷移させることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記層部分(110)、前記基板部分(120)、及び前記流体(112)が実質的に透明であることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項7に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記流体(112)が前記基板部分(120)の一部の屈折率と実質的に同じ屈折率であることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムがさらに、前記変位デバイス(130)を前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)に非永久的に接続するデータリンク(205)を具え、前記データリンク(205)が前記変位デバイス(130)と前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)との間の通信をサポートし、前記変位デバイス(130)が電力を供給され、前記データリンク(205)を介して前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)によって起動されることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項9に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記データリンク(205)が無線送信機及び無線受信機を具えることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記変位デバイス(130)が前記流体(112)を入れるリザーバ(132)を具え、前記変位デバイス(130)が前記リザーバ(132)と前記特定領域(113)との間で流体を移動し、前記特定領域(113)を前記収縮容量設定と前記膨張容量設定との間で遷移させることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項11に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記変位デバイス(130)が、前記リザーバ(132)の中に配置されたプランジャを具え、前記プランジャが前記リザーバ(132)の中で手動で操作され、前記リザーバ(132)と前記特定領域(113)との間で流体を移動させることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムがさらに、前記変位デバイス(130)が、前記流体(112)を熱することによって、前記流体(112)を膨張し、前記特定領域(113)を前記収縮容量設定から前記膨張容量設定へ遷移させる抵抗ヒータを具えることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記変位デバイス(130)が、潜在的なエネルギとして前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)の中に手動入力を蓄える蓄積器を具え、前記変位デバイス(130)が蓄えられた潜在的なエネルギを前記蓄積器から解放し、前記特定領域(113)を前記収縮容量設定と前記膨張容量設定との間で遷移させることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記変位デバイス(130)が、前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)のヒンジで連結されたフリップカバーに連結され、前記変位デバイス(130)が前記流体チャネル(138)の中に流体を移動し、前記ヒンジで連結されたフリップカバーの作動に応じて前記特定領域(113)を前記収縮容量設定から前記膨張容量設定へ遷移させることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記取付部品(220)が、前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)を実質的に包むことを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記取付部品(220)が、前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)のタッチパネルディスプレイの上に前記基板部分(120)を取り付けることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
- 請求項1に記載のユーザインターフェイス拡張システムにおいて、前記取付部品(220)が、前記タッチインターフェイスデバイス(10)に前記基板部分(120)を連結する実質的に透明で非永久的な接着剤を具えることを特徴とするユーザインターフェイス拡張システム。
