Abstract
【課題】表示品位の良好な液晶表示装置を提供する。
【解決手段】互いに対向した一対の基板12、14と、一対の基板12、14間に保持された液晶層LQと、マトリクス状に配置された画素PXを含む表示領域11と、を備え、一対の基板12、14の一方は、表示領域11を囲む領域に配置された遮光手段LS1、BMと、遮光手段LS1、BMと一方の基板12、14端との間に配置された第2遮光部LS2と、を備え、第2遮光部LS2の遮光手段LS1、BM近傍と前一方の基板12、14の端近傍とが非連続である液晶表示装置。

Description
液晶表示パネルは、互いに対向したアレイ基板および対向基板と、一対の基板間に保持された液晶層と、を備えている。液晶表示パネルは、複数のアレイ基板となる第1マザー基板と、複数の対向基板となる第2マザー基板とを対向するように貼り合せて、これらを割断ラインに沿って割断して切り出される。
図1は、第1実施形態の液晶表示装置の一構成例を概略的に示す図である。

- 互いに対向した一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板間に保持された液晶層と、
マトリクス状に配置された画素を含む表示領域と、を備え、
前記一対の基板の一方は、前記表示領域を囲む領域に配置された遮光手段と、前記遮光手段と前記一方の基板端との間に配置された第2遮光部と、を備え、
前記第2遮光部の前記遮光手段近傍と前記一方の基板の端近傍とが非連続である液晶表示装置。 - 前記一方の基板は、前記画素が配列する行に沿って延びた走査線と、前記画素が配列する列に沿って延びた信号線と、前記走査線と前記信号線とが交差する位置近傍に配置された画素スイッチと、を備え、
前記第2遮光部は、前記走査線或いは前記信号線と同じ層に配置された請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2遮光部は、前記一対の基板の一方に配置された複数の第1遮光パタンと、前記一対の基板の他方に配置された複数の第2遮光パタンを含み、
前記第2遮光パタンは前記第1遮光パタン間と対向する位置に配置されている請求項1又は請求項2記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記第2遮光部は、複数の第3遮光パタンと、前記複数の第3遮光パタンとは異なる層に配置された複数の第4遮光パタンとを含み、
前記複数の第3パタンと前記複数の第4パタンとは互いのパタン間と対向している請求項1記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記一方の基板は、前記画素が配列する行に沿って延びた走査線と、前記画素が配列する列に沿って延びた信号線と、前記走査線と前記信号線とが交差する位置近傍に配置された画素スイッチと、を備え、
前記第3遮光パタンは前記走査線と同じ層に配置され、前記第遮光4パタンは前記信号線と同じ層に配置された請求項4記載の液晶表示装置。
