Claims (17)
- 第1の端部と第2の端部を有する、車両の排気系統用のセラミック製ウォールフローフィルタを検査するための方法であって、
前記方法は、
a)フィルタ内の材料を加熱するのに適した熱エネルギー源を提供する工程、
b)フィルタ内の材料を加熱するために、フィルタの第1の端部に、熱エネルギー源からの熱エネルギーを加える工程、
c)放射された放射線のパターンの画像を形成するために、フィルタの第2の端部で放射線検出器を用いて、フィルタ内の加熱された材料によって放射された赤外線放射を検出する工程を含み、放射された放射線のパターンはフィルタの状態の兆候を与える、方法。 - フィルタの第1の端部に加えられる熱エネルギーは、第2の端部を通って十分には伝達されない、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 画像の形成は、複数の時間間隔をあけて行われ、複数の画像を生成する、請求項1または2に記載の方法。
- 複数の画像は、フィルタの第1の端部に熱エネルギーを加えてから、5−300秒間、好ましくは、15−60秒間に得られる、請求項3に記載の方法。
- フィルタの第1の端部に熱エネルギーを加えるのをやめる工程、
フィルタの第2の端部に熱エネルギーを加える工程、および、
放射された放射線のパターンの画像を形成するために、フィルタの第1の端部で放射線検出器を用いて、加熱された材料によって放射された赤外線放射を検出する工程をさらに含み、
放射された赤外線のパターンはフィルタの状態の兆候を与える、請求項1乃至4のいずれかに記載の方法。 - 画像の形成は、複数の時間間隔をあけて行われ、複数の画像を生成する、請求項5に記載の方法。
- フィルタの経路内の閉塞物の位置と長さを、前記閉塞物に対応する熱画像が形成されるまたは薄くなるまでにかかる時間から、測定する工程をさらに含む、請求項1乃至6のいずれかに記載の方法。
- フィルタの経路内の閉塞物の位置と長さを、前記閉塞物に対応する各々の熱画像が形成されるまたは薄くなるまでにかかる時間から、測定する工程をさらに含む、請求項5または6に記載の方法。
- 放射された放射線パターンを観察することによって測定されるフィルタ内の閉塞した経路の数または割合が、あらかじめ決められた閾値を超えるかどうかによって、フィルタがロット判定基準に合格するか否かを測定する工程をさらに含む、請求項1乃至8のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 加えられた熱エネルギーは、放射線検出器によって検出される放射された放射線の放射ピーク波長とは大きく異なる放射ピーク波長を有する、請求項1乃至9のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 加えられた熱エネルギーは、0.9−3μmの範囲で放射ピーク波長を有し、放射された放射線は、7−14μmの波長帯でピーク波長を有する、請求項1乃至10のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 画像の少なくとも一部は、その他の画像とは異なるコントラストを有し、加えられた熱エネルギーはほとんど変化していない、請求項3または4に記載の方法。
- フィルタのセラミック材料はシリコンカーバイドである、請求項1乃至12のいずれかに記載の方法。
- フィルタのセラミック材料は触媒コーティングを支持し、セラミック材料は好ましくは、コージライト、シリコンカーバイド、または、チタン酸アルミニウムである、請求項1乃至12のいずれかに記載の方法。
- 請求項1乃至14のいずれかの方法を用いるための装置であって、
前記装置は、
a)車両排気系統用のセラミック製ウォールフローフィルタ内の材料を加熱するのに適した熱エネルギー源、
b)熱エネルギーが、熱エネルギー源から放射されると、フィルタ内の加熱された材料によって放射された赤外線放射が放射された放射線のパターンの画像を形成するような温度まで、フィルタの第1の端部の少なくとも一部を加熱するように、フィルタを取り付けるための手段、および、
c)フィルタ内の加熱された材料によって放射された放射線のパターンの画像を形成することができる放射線検出器を備え、放射された放射線のパターンはフィルタの状態の兆候を与える、装置。 - 熱エネルギー源は、少なくとも10kW.m−2、好ましくは10乃至20kW.m−2の単位面積当たりの出力を有する、請求項15に記載の装置。
- 熱エネルギー源は、フィルタの第1の端部の少なくとも一部の温度を少なくとも20℃、上昇させるために並べられ、かつ、上昇させるのに適している、請求項15または16に記載の装置。
