Abstract
Description
プリントヘッドにより生成されるインク含有液滴から、支持体(固定式または非固定式)に印刷される画像の、液滴形成に関する情報をプリントヘッドに供給する外部筆記システムによってもたらされる電子信号と連動する、電気相互接続システムと;
マニホールドから液滴形成部品へ供給されるインクまたは他の流体から液滴を形成するための機能を備える、液滴形成部品が含まれる。
ケイ素系CIJ印刷システムにおいて液滴形成をもたらす液滴形成部品は、ケイ素集積回路の構築に使用される同一技術を用いて製造されるケイ素系デバイスを使用する。ケイ素系デバイスはマルチプル流体チャネルと、複数の小さなオリフィス(ノズルとも称される)を含有でき、それは、流体系によって供給されるインクまたは他の流体を、流体ジェットとも称される流体の1種以上のコラム構造を介して、マニホールドから支持体へ流れることを可能とし、それは、適当な圧力が施されたときにケイ素系デバイスから退出させる。流体コラムまたは流体ジェットは、適当な条件下にて、明確に定義された液滴に変換させる。ケイ素系CIJ印刷システムにおいて採用される圧力は、一般に、69kPa以上であり1380kPa未満である。ケイ素系MEMS CIJプリントヘッドにおけるケイ素系デバイスを構築する材料は、多岐に亘り、流体システムまたはマニホールドによって供給されるインクまたは他の流体と接触する構造体の材料は、本発明において特に興味深い。
該組成物は、少なくとも第1着色剤と、水性組成物とケイ素系材料を接触させる際に、ケイ素系材料の腐食を抑止するのに十分な濃度の可溶性有機芳香族アゾ化合物とを含有し、該可溶性有機アゾ化合物の濃度が0.001〜1.0重量パーセント未満であることを特徴とする、該組成物を提供する。
該組成物は、水性組成物とケイ素系材料を接触させる際に、該ケイ素系材料の腐食を抑止するのに十分な濃度の可溶性有機芳香族アゾ化合物を含有し、該水性組成物は2重量パーセント未満の任意の着色剤を含有することを特徴とする、該組成物を提供する。
R5およびR8は、H、あるいは式(1)に関して記載したような無機または有機カチオンである。
本発明において有用な染料の具体例には、以下のものが含まれる(ただし、これらに限定されない):アシッドイエロー、リアクティブイエロー、フードイエロー、アシッドレッド、ダイレクトレッド、リアクティブレッド、フードレッド、アシッドブルー、ダイレクトブルー、リアクティブブルー、フードブルー、アシッドブラック、ダイレクトブラック、リアクティブブラック、フードブラック、CAS No. 224628-70-0(日本化薬株式会社から JPD Magenta EK-1 液として販売されている)、CAS No. 153204-88-7(クランプトン・アンド・クノールズカラー社から、INTRAJET(登録商標)MAGENTA KPRとして市販されている)、およびUS特許5997622と同6001161に記載されている金属アゾ染料。伝統的な、ニッケルベースの連続インクジェットプリントヘッド用の、有用な染料ベースの着色剤系は、EP0781818B1に開示されている。補助的な着色剤として本発明において有用なものは、ポリマー染料またはポリマー染料または添加染料/ラテックス粒子(loaded-dye/latex particles)である。ポリマー染料の例は、US6457822B1と該明細書内の参考文献に記載されている。添加染料/ラテックス粒子の例は、US6431700B1、US2004/0186199A1、US2004/0186198A1、US2004/0068029A1、US2003/0119984A1およびUS2003/0119938A1に記載されている。本発明において使用されるインク組成物において使用される補助的な着色剤は、任意の効果的な量で存在でき、一般に1.0〜10重量%、好ましくは2.0〜6重量%の量で存在できる。
この実施例は、緩衝液における腐食を最小限にするために、本発明において記載された材料がどのように使用されているかを示す。緩衝液は、水へN-メチルジエタノールアミン(MDEA)を添加し、酢酸(HOAc)を添加して、実験的なpH値へ適応させることにより調製された。ケイ素の腐食は、温度、圧力および流れを調節できる再循環系を用いるUS2009/0065478A1(ドッケリー等)において開示された方法を使用して、低コヒーレンス干渉法によるインサイチュでのケイ素(Si(100))クーポン(26mm×26mm、厚さ0.3mm)に基づき測定される。観察されたエッチング速度はケイ素腐食の直接的な尺度をもたらすので、ケイ素腐食の抑制を評価することの決定的手段となる。表1において細述された実験の全ては、131kPaの圧力で行われた。
この実施例において、ケイ素の腐食は、インクジェット用インク配合物において一般に使用される種類の界面活性剤と保湿剤を含有する溶液から調製された一連の配合物に関して評価されている。これらの実施例は、実施例1において用いられた緩衝液配合物と比較して、より実用的な本発明における実施態様を用いて、本発明による配合物のケイ素腐食抑制を評価する手段を提供する。基本となる溶液(溶液1、Sol.1)の配合を表2に記載する。
略記(wt%)は、構成要素の重量パーセントを表す。カーボンブラック顔料分散体の含有量は、カーボンブラックの重量パーセントに基づく。
ポリマー分散剤P-1
1リットルの、還流冷却器を備える3つ口の丸底フラスコ中へ、窒素雰囲気下にて、37.0gのベンジルメタクリレート、30.0gのステアリルメタクリレート、および33.0gのメタクリル酸、1.5gの1-ドデカンチオール、400mLのメチルエチルケトン、並びに1.2gのAIBNを混合させた。溶液を撹拌し、20分間窒素でパージし、一定温度の浴槽中で70℃まで加熱した。24時間後、得られた溶液を冷却した。得られたポリマー溶液を、水とジメチルアミノエタノールで混合させ、100%の酸中和をもたらした。その後、混合物全体を、減圧条件下50℃にて蒸留させ、有機溶媒を除去した。最終的なポリマー溶液は水中で約20wt%の濃度を有し、そのpHは約7であった。重量平均分子量は10800ダルトンであった。
5リットルの、機械撹拌器と還流冷却器およびガス注入口を備える3つ口の丸底フラスコを、225gの1-メトキシ-2-プロパノールで充填させ、窒素を拡散させた。Akzo-ノーベル化学社製の開始剤PerKadox AMBN-GR(1.9g)を撹拌させながら添加した。反応容器を225gの1-メトキシ-2-プロパノール、23.4gの1-ドデカンチオール、203.5gのベンジルメタクリレート、165.0gのステアリルメタクリレートおよび181.5gのメタクリル酸で充填し、溶液を窒素拡散によって脱気させた。その中に、AMBN-GR(7.7g)を添加し混合させた。反応温度を77℃まで上昇させ、360分にわたり2.3mL/分の速度にて、容器から反応物を送り出した。反応混合物を77℃で少なくとも12時間撹拌させた。ジメチルアミノエタノールを用いて完全にポリマーを中和させ、45分間撹拌させた。反応混合物を2580gの水で希釈し、Pall社製のUltipleatポリプロピレンカートリッジフィルターを介してろ過した。最終的なポリマー溶液は約20wt%の固形分濃度を有し、そのpHは8.6であった。重量平均分子量の平均は9070ダルトンであった。
顔料分散体K-1
2.5ガロンで、9-インチの直径と12-インチの深さを有し、4つのバッフルを具備する、2重壁のステンレススチール製混合容器へ、水(1273g)とポリマー分散体P-1の溶液(20.6wt%溶液を727g)を添加した。チャーレスロス&ソン社の形式HSM-100LH-2高せん断ミキサーにより駆動される、わずか4インチの環状の分散羽根(ホックマイヤー・エクイプメント社、D-ブレード)を、撹拌容器の底から2インチ上方の中心位置へ配置し、撹拌を開始する。デグサ社製のNIPex(登録商標)180IQカーボンブラック顔料(500g)を流体内へゆっくりと調合させる。50マイクロメーターの平均粒径を有するポリスチレン樹脂ビーズ(スチレンとジビニルベンゼン/エチルビニルベンゼン混合物のコポリマー)を含有する粉砕媒体(3000g)を、羽根車の速度を上昇させながら、ゆっくりと添加する。混合物を、初期温度25〜35℃にて、20時間、約19m/秒の撹拌翼の先端速度で粉砕する。マイクロトラック社製のNanotrac(登録商標)150動的光散乱分析器によって粒径を測定するために、サンプルを定期的に取り出し、希釈および濾過した。粉砕が完了した際に、分散体/粉砕媒体混合物を、10%の最終顔料濃度と、5000gの理論分散バッチサイズを有するように、水(2475g)とローム・アンド・ハース社製のKordek(登録商標)MLX防腐剤(25g)との溶液でさらに希釈する。羽根を分散体/粉砕媒体混合物から取り出し、真空分離フィルタープローブを浸漬させる。フィルタープローブは、密閉された2−インチ長の1.25インチOD管状の、38マイクロメータスクリーン(ジョンソンスクリーン)へ連結された0.25インチのID Tygon(登録商標)プラスチックチューブから構成される。ぜん動性ポンプは、粉砕媒体から分散体を分離するために使用され、その後、それらは、0.3マイクロメーターの除去効率を示す、奥行きのあるフィルターであるパール社製のProfileII(登録商標)を用いて、除去される。おおよそ4kgの分散体が回収され、収率は約80%である。体積加重した50番目の百分位数(50th percentile)粒径での分布粒径は62nmであり、95番目の百分位数(95th percentile)粒径での分布粒径は110nmである。
顔料分散体K-1に類似する手順を用いて、20時間にわたり、50マイクロメーターの平均粒径を有するポリマー樹脂製の粉砕媒体(3000g)を用いながら、NIPex180IQカーボンブラック顔料(500g)を、水(1000g)とポリマー分散剤P−2の溶液(20.1wt%溶液を1000g)との溶液中に分散させる。粉砕に続けて分散体/粉砕媒体混合物を、10%の最終顔料濃度と、5000gの理論分散バッチサイズを有するように、水(2475g)とKordek(登録商標)MLX(25.0g)との溶液で希釈する。分散体を粉砕媒体から分離し、その後、0.3マイクロメーターの効果的な孔径を有し奥行きのあるフィルターを介して、それを濾過する。およそ4kgの分散体が回収され、収率は約80%である。体積加重した50番目の百分位数(50th percentile)粒径での分布粒径は60nmであり、95番目の百分位数(95th percentile)粒径での分布粒径は105nmである。
ブラック着色した連続インクジェット用インク組成物インクA〜Fを、表4において記載された相対的比率で原料を混合することにより、顔料分散体K-1およびK-2から調製した。代表的な方法の場合、下記の機能性成分オーダーで、マグネチック撹拌子を具備する1リットルのポリエチレンビーカー中に、表Iに従い均整のとれた良好な混合で原料を混合することによって、500gのインクを調製する:水、酸、塩基、保湿剤、殺生物剤、防食剤、アゾ化合物(アゾ1、ダイレクトブラック19)、顔料分散体、界面活性剤および消泡剤。インク組成物は、原料を添加する間に2分間混合され、次いで、消泡剤の添加後に1時間撹拌させる。インク組成物は76Torrの真空条件下、47mmのパール社製Versapor(登録商標)1200膜を介して濾過し、次いで、密封したボトルに貯蔵した。
この実施例は、連続流インクジェット用プリントヘッドダイを備える連続流インクジェット系においてインクが使用される場合において、当該技術分野で既知の種類のインクと比べ、本発明に係るインクの有利な点を示す。この実施態様において、圧力、流れおよび温度を調整でき測定できるアッセンブリに固定物が連結される状態で、連続流インクジェット再循環系は、ケイ素を基剤とするMEMS連続流インクジェットプリントヘッドダイ(87mmの長さと5mmの幅を有し、1cmあたり236個のノズルを有し、ノズル径は9μmである)へ取り付けられることにより組み立てられる。この実施例において、圧力と温度が一定となるように調整した。実験条件および結果を表6にて概説する。
Claims (20)
- プリンターに水性インク組成物を充填すること、および記録材料に対して該インク組成物を噴出することを含み、
インク組成物と接触するケイ素系材料を含有するインクジェットプリンターを用いて、水性インク組成物を印刷するための方法であって、
該インク組成物が、少なくとも第1着色剤と、インク組成物により接触させる場合に、該ケイ素系材料の腐食を抑制するのに十分な濃度で可溶性有機芳香族アゾ化合物を含有する該方法。 - YまたはS1の少なくとも1つが、少なくとも1つのスルホン酸塩基で置換される、請求項2に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つの置換基R1、R2、R3、R4、R6、R7がヒドロキシルである、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも1つの置換基R1、R2、R3、R4、R6、R7がヒドロキシルであり、少なくとも他のものがアミノまたはアミドである、請求項4に記載の方法。
- R9〜R13の少なくとも1つがニトロ基である、請求項7に記載の方法。
- 可溶性芳香族アゾ化合物が1.0重量パーセント以下の濃度で存在する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 可溶性芳香族アゾ化合物が0.001〜1.0重量パーセント未満の濃度で存在する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 着色剤が顔料を含有する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 着色剤が染料を含有する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 着色剤がイエロー、マゼンタ、またはシアン染料若しくは顔料を含有する、請求項1に記載の方法。
- インクジェットプリンターが、ケイ素系の液滴形成プリントヘッドを用いる連続インクジェットプリンターである、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 少なくとも第1着色剤と、水性組成物により接触させる場合に、ケイ素系材料の腐食を抑制するのに十分な濃度で可溶性有機芳香族アゾ化合物を含有し、
該水性インク組成物と接触するケイ素系材料を含有するインクジェットプリンターにおいて使用するための水性インク組成物であって、
該可溶性有機アゾ化合物の濃度が0.001〜1.0重量パーセント未満である、該組成物。 - 着色剤がイエロー、マゼンタ、またはシアン染料若しくは顔料を含有する、請求項15に記載のインク組成物。
- 水性組成物により接触させる場合に、ケイ素系材料の腐食を抑制するのに十分な濃度で可溶性有機芳香族アゾ化合物を含有し、
該水性組成物と接触するケイ素系材料を含有するインクジェットプリンターにおいて使用するための水性組成物であって、
該水性組成物が2重量パーセント未満の任意の着色剤を含有する、該水性組成物。 - 水性組成物が0.001〜1.0重量パーセント未満の可溶性有機アゾ化合物を含有すると共に、1.0重量パーセント未満の着色剤である任意の化合物を含有する、請求項18に記載の水性組成物。
