Abstract

【課題】ガス化システムに使用する、耐摩耗性が強化されたポンプを提供する。
【解決手段】ポンプ80は、入口84及び出口86を有する筺体82と、筺体内に支持されるロータ88とを備える。ロータは、ハブ90と、ハブ区画によって離間され、固体炭素質原料を搬送するための複数の搬送路を画定する、複数のディスク92とを備えて構成される。ポンプは、固体炭素質原料に隣接する内部原料対向面を画定し、内部原料対向面の少なくとも一部が、イオンの埋め込み及び浸透、或いはその他の被覆法を用いて塗布された被膜で覆われている。

Description

本発明は、概してガス化システムに使用するポンプに関し、特に、耐摩耗性が強化されたポンプに関する。
石炭ガス化システム等のガス化システムに使用するポンプは、通常、かなり短時間の使用の後でも、深刻な摩耗及び損傷を受ける。これらの摩耗損傷は、ガス化の信頼性を低下させるだけでなく、ガス化のコストも上昇させる。
したがって、ポンプの耐摩耗性を強化することで、ポンプの動作寿命を延長し、より信頼性の高いガス化システム及びプロセスを開発することが、大きな課題である。
一態様において、本発明の実施例は、ガス化システムに使用するポンプを提供する。ポンプは、入口及び出口を有する筺体と、筺体内に支持されるロータとを備える。ロータは、ハブと、ハブ区画によって離間され、ガス化システムに固体炭素質原料を搬送するための複数の搬送路を画定する、複数のディスクとを備えて構成される。ポンプは、固体炭素質原料に隣接する内部原料対向面を画定し、この内部原料対向面の少なくとも一部が、被膜で被覆されている。
別の態様において、本発明の実施例は、ガス化システムに使用するポンプの耐摩耗性を強化する方法を提供する。本方法は、ポンプの内部原料対向面の少なくとも一部を被膜で被覆するステップを含む。
本発明の態様に従った例示的なポンプの断面図である。
これより、添付図面を参照しながら本開示の実施例を記述する。以下の記載において、無用の詳述によって本開示が曖昧にならないように、周知の機能又は構造を詳述しない。
本明細書で使用する「ガス化システム」又は「ガス化装置」は、酸素及び/又は蒸気の量を制御しながら原材料を高温で反応させることによって、石炭、コークス、バイオマス、ビチューメン、又は炭素含有廃棄物等の炭素質材料を、一酸化炭素及び水素に変換するためのシステムを意味する。
図1を参照すると、図示の例において、固体炭素質原料を搬送するためのガス化装置で使用するポンプ80は、炭素質材料を受け取る入口84及び炭素質材料を排出するための出口86を有する筺体82と、筺体82内に支持され、筺体82に対して回転するロータ88とを備える。ロータ88は、ハブ90と、ハブ90の区画によって離間される複数のディスク92とを備えて構成され、これらは入口84及び出口86と連通する複数の搬送路94を画定する。ポンプ80をガス化装置で使用すると、固体炭素質原料、固体炭素質材料を含み、任意でその他の固体、液体、又は気体を含む原料が、入口84からポンプ80内に供給され、ロータ88を回転させることによって、ディスク92が作動して、搬送路94内の炭素質材料を、出口86に向かって移動させる。ポンプ80は、固体炭素質原料に隣接する原料対向内面を備える。一実施例において、原料対向内面は、筺体82の内面96、ディスク92及びディスク92どうしの間のハブ区画によって画定される表面98、入口84の内面102、及び出口86の内面104を備える。一部の実施例では、原料対向内面の少なくとも一部が、被膜で覆われている。本明細書で使用する「被膜」は、元の表面上に取り付けられた除去可能な層、或いは、表面処理又は改質プロセスにおいて元の表面を処理又は改質することによって得られる被膜であり得る。このプロセスでは、(1)表面に被膜を塗布し、(2)化学種を表面に吸着させ、(3)表面上の化学基の化学的特性(例えば静電気帯電特性)を変化させ、且つ/又は(4)表面特性を別法で改質する。一実施例では、この被膜が、原料対向内面の少なくとも一部に取り付けられた、除去及び交換可能な耐摩耗層である。耐摩耗層を取り付けるには、ファスナ、幾何学形体、溶接、蝋付け、及び/又は接着剤を含むがこれらに限定されない手段を用いることができる。代替実施例では、被膜を、イオンの埋め込み及び浸透を含む表面処理プロセスを用いて塗布する。一実施例では、原料対向内面全体を、被膜で覆う。
ポンプは、金属又は合金で作製可能である。一部の実施例では、ポンプの少なくとも一部を、ニッケル、コバルト、又は鉄基合金から作製する。
一部の実施例では、イオン埋め込みは、ポンプを処理室内に配置するステップと、アルゴンを含むガスを処理室内に供給して約0.002Paの真空を創出するステップと、熱イオン放出、高周波、又はマイクロ波励起によってプラズマを発生させ、ポンプをプラズマ浸漬するステップと、ポンプを陰極とし、ポンプに埋め込まれる元素を含有する部材(金属箔等)を陽極として、約10MeVから約20MeVの範囲の単一場パルス電圧を印加することによってプラズマ中の電子をポンプから陽極に移動させ、陰極の役割を果たすポンプに陽イオンを向けるステップとによって実行される。ポンプがプラズマに浸漬されると、陽イオンを、様々な方向からポンプの表面に埋め込む。この埋め込みの後、約10nmから50μmの厚みを有する埋め込み層が形成される。埋め込まれる元素/イオンは、W、V、Nb、Cr、又はこれらの組み合わせであってもよい。
このポンプは次に浸透に曝されるが、この浸透は、表面への元素添加を伴う浸炭、窒化、浸炭窒化、又はその他の拡散処理であり得る。浸炭を例にとると、一部の実施例では、イオン埋め込み後のポンプを約800℃で約1時間焼き鈍すステップと、浸炭炉を約800℃まで加熱し、増熱剤又はメタノール等の分解ガスを浸炭炉に供給し、約920℃から約940℃の範囲の浸炭温度まで浸炭炉を更に加熱し、炉内の増熱剤又はガスが規則的に流動するようになるまで約1〜2時間浸炭炉を浸炭温度に維持することによって、浸炭炉を準備するステップと、ポンプを約50〜100Paの圧力下で約1〜2時間、浸炭炉に配置して浸炭を行うステップとによって実行可能である。浸炭の間、ポンプに拡散した炭素原子が、埋め込み層に埋め込まれたイオンと反応することにより、W、V、Nb、Cr等の埋め込まれる元素の炭化物を含む拡散層を形成する。しかし、浸炭ではなく浸透を適用する場合、別の化合物を含む拡散層が形成される。例えば、埋め込まれた成分が窒化プロセスを受ける場合、W、V、Nb、Cr等の窒化物を含む拡散層が形成される。拡散層の厚みは、2mm未満であり得る。一実施例において、拡散層の厚みは約1mmである。
一部の実施例では、イオンの埋め込み及び浸透プロセスによって得られる被膜が、イオン埋め込みプロセスによって形成される埋め込み層、及び浸透プロセスによって更に形成される拡散層の両方を含む。
X線光電子分光法(XPS)によって測定される元素分布は、被膜内で濃度勾配が得られることを示しており、この被膜の接着性は、濃度変異が生じ得る蒸着層よりもはるかに高い。被膜のビッカース硬度は1500Hvよりも高くてよい。一部の実施例では、被膜のビッカース硬度が、約2000Hvから約3000Hvの間であり、被膜の耐摩耗性は、このような被膜の表面よりも2〜3倍高い。更に、被膜の結果として、部品の表面に或る一定の圧縮応力が発生するので、部品のクラックを防止し、ポンプの耐疲労性能を強化することができ、変動する温度環境下でのポンプの動作寿命の大幅な延長が可能である。
一部の実施例では、原料対向内面の被膜が、別のプロセスを用いて塗布される別の被膜材料である。ポンプ内面に使用可能な被膜材料のその他の例として、MCrAlY(クロム・アルミニウム・イットリウム)被膜(Mはコバルト、ニッケル、又はコバルト/ニッケル)、並びにアルミニウム、シリコン、マグネシウム、及びカルシウムの酸化物を含むが、これらに限定されない。加えて、一部の実施例では、被膜を有さない原料対向内面の一部、又は原料対向内面以外のポンプの表面を、アルミ被覆等、別のプロセスによって被覆する。
原料対向表面に被膜を有するポンプは、その硬度及び耐摩耗性が大幅に強化され、大気圧下で固体炭素質材料を搬送する当該産業において、非常に効果的に動作寿命を延長することがわかった。
典型的な実施形態において本開示を図示及び記述しているが、本開示の概念から逸脱することなく、様々な改変及び置換が可能なことから、ここで示した細部に本開示が限定されることはない。このように、当業者には、ごく日常的な実験を用いて本明細書の開示内容の更なる改変及び等価物が想到可能なので、かかるの改変及び等価物も全て、添付の特許請求の範囲により定義される開示の概念及び範囲内にあると考えられる。

Claims (20)

  1. ガス化システムに使用するポンプであって、
    入口及び出口を有する筺体と、
    前記筺体内で支持され、前記筺体に対して回転するロータであって、ハブと、前記ハブの区画によって離間される、前記ガス化システムに固体炭素質原料を搬送するための複数の搬送路を画定する複数のディスクと、を備えて構成されたロータと、
    前記固体炭素質原料に隣接する内部原料対向面と、
    を備え、
    前記内部原料対向面の少なくとも一部が被膜で覆われる、ポンプ。
  2. 前記被膜が、イオンの埋め込み及び浸透によって塗布される、請求項1に記載のポンプ。
  3. 前記ポンプの一部が、ニッケル、コバルト、又は鉄基合金から成る、請求項2に記載のポンプ。
  4. 前記イオンが、タングステン、バナジウム、ニオブ、及びクロムのうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項2に記載のポンプ。
  5. 前記浸透が、浸炭、窒化、及び浸炭窒化のうちの少なくとも1つを含む、請求項2に記載のポンプ。
  6. 前記被膜の厚みが、約10ナノメートルから約50マイクロメートルの間である、請求項2に記載のポンプ。
  7. 前記被膜の硬度が、約1500Hvよりも高い、請求項2に記載のポンプ。
  8. 前記固体炭素質原料が、石炭、コークス、バイオマス、ビチューメン、及び炭素含有廃棄物のうちの1つ以上を含む、請求項2に記載のポンプ。
  9. 前記被膜が、前記内部原料対向面の少なくとも一部に取り付けられた、除去及び交換可能な耐摩耗層である、請求項1に記載のポンプ。
  10. 前記耐摩耗層が、ファスナ、幾何学形体、溶接、蝋付け、及び/又は接着剤によって取り付けられる、請求項9に記載のポンプ。
  11. ガス化システムに使用するポンプの耐摩耗性を強化する方法であって、前記ポンプの内部原料対向面の少なくとも一部を被膜で被覆するステップを含む方法。
  12. 前記被覆プロセスが、
    前記ポンプにイオンを埋め込むステップと、
    前記ポンプの一部を浸透に曝すステップと、を含む請求項11に記載の方法。
  13. 前記埋め込みプロセスは、
    前記ポンプをプラズマ浸漬するステップと、
    前記ポンプを陰極とし、前記ポンプに埋め込まれる元素を含有する埋め込み部材を陽極として、電圧を印加することによって前記元素のイオンを前記埋め込み部材から前記ポンプに移動させるステップと、を含む請求項12に記載の方法。
  14. 前記電圧が、約10MeVから約20MeVの範囲のパルス電圧である、請求項13に記載の方法。
  15. 前記埋め込まれるイオンが、タングステン、バナジウム、ニオブ、及びクロムのうちの少なくとも1つのイオンを含む、請求項12に記載の方法。
  16. 埋め込み層の厚みが、約10nmから約50μmの間である、請求項12に記載の方法。
  17. 前記浸透が、約920〜940℃の温度及び約50〜100Paの圧力下における約1〜2時間の浸炭である、請求項12に記載の方法。
  18. 浸透層の厚みが約2mm未満である、請求項12に記載の方法。
  19. 前記イオンの埋め込み及び浸透の間にポンプを焼き鈍すステップを更に含む、請求項12に記載の方法。
  20. 前記被膜が、ファスナ、幾何学形体、溶接、蝋付け、及び/又は接着剤によって前記内部原料対向面の少なくとも一部に取り付けられた、除去及び交換可能な耐摩耗層である、請求項11に記載の方法。
