Abstract
【解決手段】上部電極、電界発光層、及び下部電極を含む発光素子において、不本意に形成された上部電極と下部電極との短絡部にレーザ光を照射することにより、該短絡部を除去した領域を設け、該領域に透光性を有する絶縁樹脂を充填し、上部電極と下部電極との短絡を解消して照明装置の歩留まりを向上させる。

Description
本実施の形態では、本発明の一態様である照明装置及びその作製方法について説明する。図1(A)は、本実施の形態における照明装置の構造例を説明するための断面図である。なお、図1(A)は、図1(B)の平面図における線分X−Yの断面に相当する。
本実施の形態では、実施の形態1における発光素子に用いることのできる電界発光層の構造例について説明する。
本実施の形態では、前述した実施の形態における照明装置の作製方法で作製した照明装置を用いた機器の例について説明する。

Claims (6)
- 第1の電極を形成し、
前記第1の電極に接する電界発光層を形成し、
前記電界発光層上に接する第2の電極を形成して発光素子を形成し、
前記第1の電極と前記第2の電極との短絡部の位置を特定し、
前記短絡部にレーザ光を照射して前記短絡部を除去した領域を形成し、
前記領域を充填するとともに、前記領域を覆うように液状の絶縁樹脂を局所的に供給し、
前記液状の絶縁樹脂を硬化することを特徴とする照明装置の作製方法。 - 第1の電極と第2の電極を形成し
前記第1の電極に接する第1の電界発光層、及び前記第2の電極に接する第2の電界発光層を形成し、
前記第1の電界発光層に接する第3の電極、並びに前記第2の電界発光層及び前記第1の電極に接する第4の電極を形成して、
前記第1の電極、前記第1の電界発光層、及び前記第3の電極を有する第1の発光素子と
前記第2の電極、前記第2の電界発光層、及び前記第4の電極を有する第2の発光素子を電気的に直列に接続し、
前記第1の電極と前記第3の電極との短絡部、及び前記第2の電極と前記第4の電極との短絡部の位置を特定し、
前記短絡部にレーザ光を照射して前記短絡部を除去した領域を形成し、
前記領域を充填するとともに、前記領域を覆うように液状の絶縁樹脂を局所的に供給し、
前記液状の絶縁樹脂を硬化することを特徴とする照明装置の作製方法。 - 請求項1または2において、前記短絡部の位置は、前記発光素子に逆バイアスを印加することにより生じる発光素子の状態変化を検出することで特定することを特徴とする照明装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1または2において、前記短絡部の位置は、前記発光素子の表面状態を観察し、画像解析により異常部を検出することで特定することを特徴とする照明装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至4において、前記絶縁樹脂は透光性を有し、前記電界発光層よりも屈折率が大きいことを特徴とする照明装置の作製方法。
- 請求項1乃至5において、前記絶縁樹脂には、光を散乱させる粒子が含まれていることを特徴とする照明装置の作製方法。
