Abstract
【解決手段】
マトリックス状に複数の画素が配置され、液晶層を介して対向配置される第1基板及び第2の基板と、前記第1基板側に前記画素毎に形成される第1電極と、前記第1基板又は前記第2基板側に形成される第2電極とを有し、前記第1電極と前記第2電極との間に印加される液晶駆動電圧で前記液晶層を駆動する液晶表示装置であって、最低輝度を表示する際に前記画素に印加する液晶駆動電圧をVLmin、最高輝度を表示する際に前記画素に印加する液晶駆動電圧をVLmax、前記画素に印加する最高の液晶駆動電圧をVmaxとした場合、各画素に印加される液晶駆動電圧はVLmin≦VLmax<Vmaxを満たす液晶表示装置である。

Description
図1は本発明の実施形態1の液晶表示装置の全体構成を説明するための図であり、以下、図1に基づいて、実施形態1の液晶表示装置の全体構成を説明する。
図7は本発明の実施形態2の液晶表示装置における画素への印加電圧と表示輝度との関係を説明するための図である。以下、図7に基づいて実施形態2の液晶表示装置における広視角電圧と視角制御電圧とを画素に印加した場合の視角制御動作について説明する。なお、以下の説明においても実施形態1と同様に、最高輝度の画素に対するドレイン電圧の供給は、コントローラが備えるテーブルデータの参照によって実現可能である。
図8は本発明の実施形態3の液晶表示装置における画素への印加電圧と表示輝度との関係を説明するための図である。以下、図8に基づいて実施形態3の液晶表示装置における広視角電圧と視角制御電圧とを画素に印加した場合の視角制御動作について説明する。

DDR……映像信号駆動回路、GDR……走査信号駆動回路、CNT……コントローラ
CDR……共通信号駆動回路、PNL……液晶表示パネル、ES……外部信号
IDA……通常表示領域、OPA……妨害パターン領域
Claims (6)
- マトリックス状に複数の画素が配置され、液晶層を介して対向配置される第1基板及び第2の基板と、
前記第1基板側に前記画素毎に形成される第1電極と、前記第1基板又は前記第2基板側に形成される第2電極とを有し、前記第1電極と前記第2電極との間に印加される液晶駆動電圧で前記液晶層を駆動する液晶表示装置であって、
最低輝度を表示する際に前記画素に印加する液晶駆動電圧をVLmin、
最高輝度を表示する際に前記画素に印加する液晶駆動電圧をVLmax、
前記画素に印加する最高の液晶駆動電圧をVmaxとした場合、
各画素に印加される液晶駆動電圧はVLmin≦VLmax<Vmaxを満たすことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記最高輝度を表示する画素に印加される液晶駆動電圧がVmaxであることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記液晶駆動電圧Vmaxが印加される画素が配置される第1領域と、VLmin≦VLmaxの液晶駆動電圧のみが印加される画素が配置される第2領域とが、同一の表示領域内に形成されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項1乃至3の内の何れかに記載の表示装置において、
前記液晶駆動電圧Vmaxの使用又は不使用を切り替える表示切替手段を備えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記液晶駆動電圧の基準となる交流の共通信号を前記第2電極に供給する共通信号駆動回路と、
前記共通信号に同期し、各画素の表示輝度に対応した映像信号を前記第1電極に供給する映像信号駆動回路を備え、
前記切替手段の出力に基づいて、前記共通信号駆動回路が前記共通信号の振幅幅を変動させると共に、前記映像信号駆動回路が前記液晶駆動電圧VLminを変動させることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。 - 請求項4に記載の液晶表示装置において、
前記液晶駆動電圧の基準となる交流の共通信号を前記第2電極に供給する共通信号駆動回路と、
前記共通信号に同期し、各画素の表示輝度に対応した映像信号を前記第1電極に供給する映像信号駆動回路を備え、
前記切替手段の出力に基づいて、前記映像信号駆動回路が前記映像信号の最大振幅幅を変動させ、前記液晶駆動電圧をVLmaxからVmaxに切り替えることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
