Abstract

- 中心から外縁へと、中心コアと、内側クラッドと、低くしたトレンチと、外側光クラッドとを含み、
−中心コアが半径r1および外側光クラッドに対してアルファ屈折率プロファイルを有し、
−内側クラッドが半径r2および外側光クラッドに対して屈折率差Δn2を有し、
−低くしたトレンチが幅Wtおよび外側光クラッドに対して屈折率差Δntを有する、
マルチモード光ファイバであって、
中心コアのアルファインデックスプロファイルの端と外側光クラッドとの間の屈折率差がゼロであり、ボリュームが式V=1000×Wt×Δntによって定義される低くしたトレンチのボリュームVが−40μmと−30μmとの間で構成されることを特徴とする、マルチモード光ファイバ。 - 光ファイバが低くしたトレンチのない同じ屈折率プロファイルを有する光ファイバに対して開口数の拡大が0.010未満である、請求項1に記載のファイバ。
- 外側光クラッドに対しての低くしたトレンチの屈折率差Δntが−6×10−3と−15×10−3との間である、請求項1から2のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 外側光クラッドに対しての低くしたトレンチの屈折率差Δntが−7×10−3と−10×10−3との間である、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 低くしたトレンチの幅Wtが4.5μmよりも小さく、好ましくは1.5μmよりも大きいまたは2μmよりも大きいことさえある、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 内側クラッドの半径r2と中心コアの半径r1との間の差が0と5μmとの間で構成される、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 内側クラッドの半径r2と中心コアの半径r1との間の差が0μmであり、低くしたトレンチが中心コアと直接接触する、請求項6に記載のファイバ。
- 中心コアが62.5±3μmの直径および0.275±0.015の開口数を有する、請求項1から7のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 中心コアが50±3μmの直径および0.2±0.015の開口数を有する、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 15mmの曲率半径の周りに2回巻の状態で850nmの波長において、同じインデックスプロファイルを有するが低くしたトレンチのない光ファイバに対して少なくとも40%だけ少ない曲げ損失を有する、請求項1から9のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 10mmの曲率半径の周りに2回巻の状態で850nmの波長において、同じインデックスプロファイルを有するが低くしたトレンチのないファイバに対して少なくとも30%だけ少ない曲げ損失を有する、請求項1から10のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 7.5mmの曲率半径の周りに2回巻の状態で850nmの波長において、同じインデックスプロファイルを有するが低くしたトレンチのないファイバに対して少なくとも20%だけ少ない曲げ損失を有する、請求項1から11のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
- 5mmの曲率半径の周りに2回巻の状態で850nmの波長において、同じインデックスプロファイルを有するが低くしたトレンチのないファイバに対して少なくとも20%だけ少ない曲げ損失を有する、請求項1から12のいずれか一項に記載のファイバ。
