運転条件であれば、破損が生じた排気浄化装置における圧力損失は、破損していない正常な排気浄化装置における圧力損失と比較して小さくなる傾向がある。よって、ある運転状態のもとで実際に検出された排気浄化装置における圧力損失が、排気浄化装置が破損していなければ当該運転状態のもとで検出されるであろうと推定されるところの圧力損失と比較して小さければ、排気浄化装置に破損が生じていると判定することができる。

Claims (8)
- 内燃機関の排気通路にタービンを有し且つ吸気通路にコンプレッサを有するターボチャージャと、
前記タービンより下流の排気通路に設けられた排気浄化装置と、
前記排気浄化装置より下流の排気通路と前記コンプレッサより上流の吸気通路とを接続するEGR通路と、
前記EGR通路に設けられEGR通路の流路断面積を変更するEGR弁と、
内燃機関の運転状態が所定の運転状態である場合に、前記EGR弁を開弁方向に制御することで内燃機関からの排気の一部を吸気通路へ還流させるEGR制御手段と、
前記排気浄化装置の破損を検出する破損検出手段と、
を備え、
前記EGR制御手段は、前記破損検出手段により前記排気浄化装置の破損が検出された場合は、内燃機関の運転状態が前記所定の運転状態であっても、前記EGR弁を閉弁し、前記EGR通路を介して行われる排気の還流を停止することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。 - 請求項1に記載の内燃機関のEGRシステムにおいて、
前記排気浄化装置の温度を検出する温度検出手段を更に備え、
前記破損検出手段は、前記温度検出手段によって検出される温度が所定の温度より高い場合に、前記排気浄化装置が破損していると判定することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。 - 請求項1に記載の内燃機関のEGRシステムにおいて、
前記排気浄化装置における圧力損失を検出する圧力損失検出手段と、
前記排気浄化装置に破損が生じていないと仮定した場合に想定される前記排気浄化装置における圧力損失を推定する正常時圧力損失推定手段と、
を更に備え、
前記破損検出手段は、前記圧力損失検出手段によって検出される圧力損失が前記正常時圧力損失推定手段によって推定される圧力損失より小さい場合に、前記排気浄化装置が破損していると判定することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。 - 請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関のEGRシステムにおいて、
前記タービンより上流の排気通路と前記コンプレッサより下流の吸気通路とを接続する高圧EGR通路と、
前記高圧EGR通路に設けられ高圧EGR通路の流路断面積を変更する高圧EGR弁と、
を更に備え、
前記EGR制御手段は、内燃機関の運転状態が第2の所定の運転状態である場合に、少なくとも前記EGR弁を開弁方向に制御することで内燃機関からの排気の一部を吸気通路へ還流させる手段であって、前記破損検出手段により前記排気浄化装置の破損が検出された場合は、内燃機関の運転状態が前記第2の所定の運転状態であっても、前記EGR弁を閉弁し、少なくとも前記EGR通路を介して行われる排気の還流を停止することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。 - 内燃機関の排気通路にタービンを有し且つ吸気通路にコンプレッサを有するターボチャージャと、
前記タービンより下流の排気通路に設けられた排気浄化装置と、
前記排気浄化装置より下流の排気通路と前記コンプレッサより上流の吸気通路とを接続するEGR通路と、
前記EGR通路に設けられEGR通路の流路断面積を変更するEGR弁と、
内燃機関の運転状態が所定の運転状態である場合に、前記EGR弁を開弁方向に制御することで内燃機関からの排気の一部を吸気通路へ還流させるEGR制御手段と、
前記排気浄化装置の破損を予測及び/又は前記排気浄化装置が破損する兆候を検出する破損予測手段と、

前記EGR制御手段は、前記破損予測手段により前記排気浄化装置の破損が予測される場合及び/又は前記排気浄化装置が破損する兆候を検出した場合は、内燃機関の運転状態が前記所定の運転状態であっても、前記EGR弁を閉弁し、前記EGR通路を介して行われる排気の還流を停止することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。 - 請求項5に記載の内燃機関のEGRシステムにおいて、
前記排気浄化装置の温度を検出する温度検出手段を更に備え、
前記破損予測手段は、前記温度検出手段によって検出される前記排気浄化装置の温度に基づいて前記排気浄化装置の破損を予測及び/又は前記排気浄化装置が破損する兆候を検出することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。 - 請求項5に記載の内燃機関のEGRシステムにおいて、
前記排気浄化装置における圧力損失を検出する圧力損失検出手段を更に備え、
前記破損予測手段は、前記圧力損失検出手段によって検出される圧力損失に基づいて前記排気浄化装置の破損を予測及び/又は前記排気浄化装置が破損する兆候を検出することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。 - 請求項5から7のいずれか1項に記載の内燃機関のEGRシステムにおいて、
前記タービンより上流の排気通路と前記コンプレッサより下流の吸気通路とを接続する高圧EGR通路と、
前記高圧EGR通路に設けられ高圧EGR通路の流路断面積を変更する高圧EGR弁と、
を更に備え、
前記EGR制御手段は、内燃機関の運転状態が第2の所定の運転状態である場合に、少なくとも前記EGR弁を開弁方向に制御することで内燃機関からの排気の一部を吸気通路へ還流させる手段であって、前記破損予測手段により前記排気浄化装置の破損が予測される場合及び/又は前記排気浄化装置が破損する兆候を検出した場合は、内燃機関の運転状態が前記第2の所定の運転状態であっても、前記EGR弁を閉弁し、少なくとも前記EGR通路を介して行われる排気の還流を停止することを特徴とする内燃機関のEGRシステム。
