Claims (37)

チャネル内において、該第1の速度よりも実質的に大きい第2の速度で該第2のドロッ
プレットを移動させる、ステップと、
該第1の流体ドロップレットと該第2の流体ドロップレットとが合体しないように、
該第2の流体ドロップレットを該第1の流体ドロップレットと接触させるステップと、
該第1のドロップレットと該第2のドロップレットとが合体して1つの複合ドロッ
プレットとなるように、該第1の流体ドロップレットと該第2の流体ドロップレットと
のうちの少なくとも1つに電場を印加するステップと、
を包含する、方法。 - 前記第2の速度は、少なくとも前記第1の速度の約150%である、請求項1に記載
の方法。 - 前記第2の速度は、少なくとも前記第1の速度の約200%である、請求項1に記載
の方法。 - 前記第2の速度は、少なくとも前記第1の速度の約300%である、請求項1に記載
の方法。 - 前記第2の速度は、少なくとも前記第1の速度の約500%である、請求項1に記載

とも1つは、酵素を備える、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記第1の流体ドロップレットおよび前記第2の流体ドロップレットのうちの一方
は、化学反応において相互作用する2つの反応物を備え、かつ、他方の流体ドロップレ

- 前記マイクロ流体チャネルは、前記第1の流体ドロップレットおよび前記第2の流体
ドロップレットを含有する液体を備える、請求項1に記載の方法。 - 前記複合ドロップレットの少なくとも一部分を硬化させるステップをさらに包含す
る、請求項1に記載の方法。 - ドロップレットの第1の流体流を提供するステップであって、該第1の流体流内の該
ドロップレットが、約100ミクロン未満の平均直径と、該ドロップレットの約5%以

ドロップレットの第2の流体流を提供するステップであって、該第1の流体流内の該

ドロップレットの該第1の流体流の少なくとも1つのドロップレットと、ドロップレ
ットの該第2の流体流の少なくとも1つのドロップレットとが、合体して1つの複合ド
ロップレットとなるように、ドロップレットの該第1の流体流の該少なくとも1つのド
ロップレットおよびドロップレットの該第2の流体流の該少なくとも1つのドロップ
レットに、電場を印加するステップと、
を包含する、方法。 - 前記第1の流体ドロップレットの体積は、前記第2の流体ドロップレットの体積より
も大きい、請求項21に記載の方法。 - 前記電場を印加する行為は、ドロップレットの前記第1の流体流およびドロップレッ
