Claims (20)

第一方向及び第二方向の間で前記電場の方向を周期的に変更する段階であり、周期毎に、前記第一方向には20から500msの間にわたって、前記第二方向には20から500msの間にわたって前記電場が印加される段階とを備えた方法。 - 周期毎に、前記第一方向には50から250msの間にわたって、前記第二方向には50から250msの間にわたって前記電場が印加される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 周期毎に、前記電場が前記第一方向と前記第二方向に同じ時間だけ印加される請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記第一方向が前記第二方向に実質的に直交する請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記電場が100から200kHzまでの間の周波数を有する請求項2に記載の方法。
- 周期毎に、前記電場が前記第一方向と前記第二方向に同じ時間だけ印加される請求項5に記載の方法。
- 腫瘍を処置する方法であり、
(a)第一期間にわたって第一方向に第一電場を前記腫瘍に印加する段階と、
(b)前記第一期間の後の第二期間にわたって第二方向に第二電場を前記腫瘍に印加する段階と、
(c)前記(a)段階及び前記(b)段階を周期的に繰り返す段階とを備え、
前記第一電場が、分裂細胞に損傷を与えるが非分裂細胞には実質的に害を与えない周波数及び電場強度を有し、前記第一期間が処置の有効性を増加するように選択されていて、
前記第二電場が、分裂細胞に損傷を与えるが非分裂細胞には実質的に害を与えない周波数及び電場強度を有し、前記第二期間が処置の有効性を増加するように選択されている方法。 - 前記第一期間が20から500msまでの間であり、前記第二期間が20から500msまでの間である請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記第一期間が50から250msまでの間であり、前記第二期間が50から250msまでの間である請求項7に記載の方法。
- 前記第一期間が前記第二期間に略等しい請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記第一方向が前記第二方向に実質的に直交する請求項7に記載の方法。
- ターゲット領域に治療用電場を印加する方法であり、
第一及び第二出力状態を有する周期的な制御信号を発生させる段階であり、ここで前記第一出力状態の期間が20から500msまでの間であり、前記第二出力状態の期間が20から500msまでの間である段階と、
前記制御信号が前記第一出力状態である際に第一AC信号を発生させ、前記制御信号が前記第二出力状態である際に第二AC信号を発生させる段階と、
前記第一信号を第一電極対に加えて、第一方向に第一電場を前記ターゲット領域に印加する段階であり、前記第一電場が少なくとも1V/cmの電場強度及び50から500kHzまでの間の周波数を有する段階と、
前記第二信号を第二電極対に加えて、第二方向に第二電場を前記ターゲット領域に印加する段階であって、前記第二電場が少なくとも1V/cmの電場強度及び50から500kHzまでの間の周波数を有する段階とを備えた方法。 - 前記第一出力状態の期間が50から250msまでの間であり、前記第二出力状態の期間が50から250msまでの間である請求項12に記載の方法。
- 前記第一出力状態の期間が前記第二出力状態の期間に略等しい請求項13に記載の方法。
- 前記電場が100から200kHzまでの間の周波数を有する請求項13に記載の方法。
- ターゲット領域に治療用電場を印加するための装置であり、
導体と、該導体から絶縁され患者の体に対向して配置されるように構成された表面部とを有する第一の絶縁された電極対と、
導体と、該導体から絶縁され患者の体に対向して配置されるように構成された表面部とを有する第二の絶縁された電極対と、
第一及び第二出力状態を有する周期的な制御信号を発生させる矩形波発生器であり、前記第一出力状態の期間が20から500msまでの間であり、前記第二出力状態の期間が20から500msまでの間である矩形波発生器と、
前記制御信号が前記第一出力状態である際に前記第一の絶縁された電極対の導体に第一AC信号を発生させ、前記制御信号が前記第二出力状態である際に前記第二の絶縁された電極対の導体に第二AC信号を発生させるAC信号発生器であり、前記第一AC信号及び前記第二AC信号が50から500kHzまでの間の周波数を有するAC信号発生器とを備えた装置。 - 前記第一出力状態の期間が20から500msまでの間であり、前記第二出力状態の期間が50から250msまでの間である請求項16に記載の装置。
- 前記第一AC信号及び前記第二AC信号が100から200kHzまでの間の周波数を有する請求項17に記載の装置。
- 前記AC信号発生器が、単一の信号源と、前記信号源の出力を前記第一の絶縁された電極対または前記第二の絶縁された電極対のどちらかに分配するスイッチとを備える請求項16に記載の装置。
- 前記AC信号発生器が、前記第一の絶縁された電極対に動作可能に接続された第一信号源と、前記第二の絶縁された電極対に動作可能に接続された第二信号源とを備える請求項16に記載の装置。
