Abstract
【解決手段】液晶装置(100)は、電圧無印加時における配向状態がスプレイ配向である液晶分子を含んでなる液晶層(50)を挟持する一対の基板(10、20)と、該一対の基板の一方の基板上における画素領域(10a)の周囲を規定する額縁領域(53a)に少なくとも部分的に配置されると共に、額縁領域における液晶層をベンド配向状態にするための電位とされる導電性の配向維持部材(210)とを備える。

Description
本発明の液晶装置に係る実施形態について、図1乃至図7を参照して説明する。
次に、本実施形態に係る液晶装置における配向維持部材の変形例について、図8を参照して説明する。ここに、図8は、本実施形態に係る配向維持部材の変形例を示す平面図である。
本発明に係る電子機器の実施形態について、図9を参照して説明する。ここに、図9は、上述した液晶装置100が適用されたカーナビゲーション装置の斜視図である。
Claims (10)
- 電圧無印加時における配向状態がスプレイ配向である液晶分子を含んでなる液晶層を挟持する一対の基板と、
前記一対の基板の一方の基板上における画素領域の周囲を規定する額縁領域に少なくとも部分的に配置されると共に、前記額縁領域における前記液晶層をベンド配向状態にするための電位とされる導電性の配向維持部材と
を備えることを特徴とする液晶装置。 - 前記配向維持部材は、前記画素領域の外縁のうち相対向する二辺に沿って配置された本体部を有することを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記配向維持部材は、前記外縁のうち前記二辺の少なくとも一方に相隣接する辺に沿って配置された延設部を更に有することを特徴とする請求項2に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記延設部は、前記本体部が配置された第1層とは異なる第2層に配置されていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記電位を、前記配向維持部材に供給する電圧供給手段を更に備えることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記電圧供給手段は、前記画素領域における前記液晶層を駆動するための各種駆動用信号の一部と共用で、前記電位を供給することを特徴とする請求項5に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記配向維持部材は、静電気から当該液晶装置を保護する静電気保護回路の少なくとも一部を構成することを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記配向維持部材は、前記一方の基板上で平面的に見て、島状に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置。
- 前記一方の基板は、前記画素領域にマトリクス状に配列された複数の画素電極を有し、
前記配向維持部材は、前記複数の画素電極と層間絶縁膜を介して互いに異なる層に配置されている
ことを特徴とする請求項1乃至8のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置。 - 請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載の液晶装置を備える電子機器。
