Abstract
【解決手段】繊維強化プラスチック(FRP)の製造に使用されるプラスチック樹脂を強化するために用いられるガラス繊維に施用するためのサイジング組成物。このサイジング組成物は、ヒドロキシ官能性基、またはこれとフェニル及び/またはアルコキシル化官能性基との混合物からなる群から選択される少なくとも一種の官能性モノマーから製造されるコポリマーを含む。サイジング組成物でサイジングされたガラス繊維は、低レベルのホワイトガラスから示される、FRPの製造に使用される樹脂との優れた相容性を有する。

Description
ポリマーラテックスの製造:
乳化重合によって一連のポリマーラテックスを製造した。モノマー組成は表1に示す。表に示したモノマー組成は、モノマーの全重量を基準にした重量%として表している。各々のモノマーの重量%は表中の括弧内に示す。サンプルA、B及びCは比較例である。
サイジング組成物を、以下の処方に従い各々のポリマーに調製した。
ポリエステル積層樹脂を、次の処方に従い製造した。DERAKANE 470-300は、Dow社のエポキシノボラックに基づくビニルエステル樹脂である。
前記ガラス繊維ストランドを2インチの長さに刻み、そしてFRPの全重量を基準にして28重量%の量で以下の手順に従いプラスチック樹脂中に組み入れた。サイジングされそして切断されたこれらのガラス繊維を平坦なパネル上に置き、そしてプラスチック樹脂を、この切断ガラス上に注いだ。このガラスは最小の力で樹脂中に組み入れられた。この処理されたガラス繊維とプラスチック樹脂とを組み合わせたものを、別の平坦なプレートで覆い、そしてプレスして一定の厚さとした。この組み合わせ物を、フォースドラフトオーブン中で80℃に50分間加熱して硬化させた。硬化されたこのFRPをオーブンから取り出しそして室温まで放冷した。
高分子量もしくは低分子量ポリマーからそれぞれ製造したFRPをその透明性及びホワイトガラスの存在について視覚評価した。FRPは、主観で、不良、可、良、非常に良好または優とランク付けした。
固有粘度は、乾燥したポリマー1gをアセトン中に溶解することによって測定した。次いで、IVを、Canon50Y767フローチューブを用いて30℃の温度でフロー試験により測定した。

Claims (17)
- a) ヒドロキシ官能性モノマー単位、フェニル官能性モノマー単位、アルコキシル化官能性モノマー単位、及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される官能性モノマー単位0.1〜30重量%、
b)一種または二種以上の非官能性エチレン性不飽和モノマー単位70〜99.9重量%
を含む成膜性官能性コポリマーバインダーを含む、ガラス繊維用サイジング組成物。 - 上記成膜性官能性ポリマーが、上記官能性モノマー単位を0.2〜20重量%の割合で含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 前記アルコキシル化官能性モノマー単位が、式−(RO)n−を有し、但し、式中、Rはメチル、エチル、プロピルもしくはブチル基、またはこれらの混合物であり、そしてnは1〜50である、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 上記ヒドロキシ官能性モノマー単位が、ヒドロキシエチルアクリレートまたはヒドロキシプロピルアクリレートを含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 上記官能性コポリマーが、酢酸ビニルモノマー単位を少なくとも50重量%の割合で含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 上記フェニル官能性モノマー単位が、フェノキシエチル(メタ)アクリレートを含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 上記官能性コポリマーが、30,000〜2,000,000の分子量を有する、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 上記官能性ポリマーが、55,000を超える分子量を有する、請求項6のサイジング組成物。
- 上記組成物が、更に、非官能性ポリマーを含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 上記コポリマーバインダーを1〜50重量%の割合で含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 上記コポリマーバインダーを2〜25重量%の割合で含む、請求項10のサイジング組成物。
- 上記組成物が固形物を2〜25重量%の割合で及び水を75〜98重量%の割合で含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- コポリマーバインダーの重量を基準にして20重量%までの割合で助剤を更に含む、請求項1のサイジング組成物。
- 繊維強化プラスチックを製造するために使用されるガラス繊維であって、固形物/固形物基準で、
a)ヒドロキシ官能性モノマー単位、フェニル官能性モノマー単位、アルコキシル化官能性モノマー単位、及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される官能性モノマー単位0.1〜30重量%、及び
b)一種または二種以上の非官能性エチレン性不飽和モノマー単位70〜99.9重量%、
を含む成膜性官能性コポリマー組成物が前記ガラス繊維に直接付着している、上記ガラス繊維。 - プラスチック樹脂及びガラス繊維を含む繊維強化プラスチックであって、
a)ヒドロキシ官能性モノマー単位、フェニル官能性モノマー単位、アルコキシル化官能性モノマー単位、及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される官能性モノマー単位0.1〜30重量%、及び
b)一種または二種以上の非官能性エチレン性不飽和モノマー単位70〜99.9重量%、
を含む成膜性官能性コポリマー組成物が前記ガラス繊維に直接コーティングされている、上記繊維強化プラスチック。 - プラスチック樹脂が、スチレン化ポリエステル、アクリルポリエステル、ビニルエステル樹脂、エポキシ樹脂、エポキシノボラック樹脂、ナイロン、ウレタン、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、及びアクリル樹脂からなる群から選択される、請求項15の繊維強化プラスチック。
- プラスチック樹脂が、ビニルエステル樹脂または低スチレンエポキシ樹脂を含む、請求項16の繊維強化プラスチック。
